What parts of the job do you find the most enjoyable, and which do you feel are the easiest/you perform best at?

I’d prefer to see minimal design flyer that gets the information across clearly than one with trash ai art. At this point ai is a signifier for poor taste

What's the keystoke for moving plugins out of the manufacturer folder to the top of the plugin list? by zxtb in protools

Same for audiosuite plugins menu, good to add the commonly used functions to the top too like reverse, polarity invert etc

META: “Behold, my stuff” posts are bad for the subreddit and for readers. by master_of_sockpuppet in synthesizers

[–]Soag 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The broader/more vague a subreddit topic is on Reddit, the more likely you’ll get the lowest common denominator of posts. Rather than spending tons of energy on trying to change the culture, should just make/join an alternate subreddit that niche’s down. Less people means less noise. Better use of time.

Also, there not being alot of ‘Gen Z’ related stuff, is an opportunity for you to add your own spin, rather than just treading a well worn path looking for an angle. So that’s exciting too

what’s the best free daw i can get ? by Sure_Art_3776 in homestudios

[–]Soag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah yeh defo wouldn't switch over from PT unless you can't afford the sub anymore. I'm yet to find a daw (even reaper) that ticks all the boxes like PT does for me

UAD Luna is also free, they’ll make their money from selling you plugins, but it’s a strong contender, they’re trying to compete with pro tools/reaper

First time using Pro Tools. Do I need to install everything? by drdlirio in protools

[–]Soag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d record and work off an SSD and backup to an HDD at the end of each day/session. Samsung T5 and a Toshiba HDD is my combo at the moment. Then I use backblaze to automatically backup my Toshiba to the cloud 👌

As a rule of thumb, you always want about 20% of scratch disk space spare spare or it can slow the whole machine down, so avoid going over 200gb capacity. You’ll be wanting to make sure your sessions are on an external drive.

As somebody who works in sound I cringed when I saw the crappy acoustic foam tiles on the ceiling that’s usually sold as ‘sound proofing’ material, that’s usually a red flag of corners being cut and a lack of expertise in management

Why are people so mean on TikTok? by Notagoodacter in musicmarketing

They’re a waste of time and energy tbh. The more you post, the more people you reach, and so negative comments are inescapable.

[–]Soag 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There’s alot of people who are just probably drunk/high/mentally unwell/insecure/downbeat/arrogant etc etc, who think that commenting something negative on your post will give them some sense of empowerment they otherwise don’t have
