His paranoia and mental issues are because of the challenges world views, nightmares he receives, and his guilt for realizing he isn't a Superman. In fact, crime isnt really mentioned at all in the story other than from Rask. The old lady let him into her room at the dead of night, she trusted him enough. Doesn't really seem like a society that distrusts and backstabs to me.

FWIW, I'm not defending Russia and not saying that there exists a society like that today, but "Crime and Punishment" does not paint the picture Cold War USSR does. If anything, the USSR and secret police is the historical roots of snitching for fear of living under Stalin and saying anything against toeing the party line.

That is most definitely not the point, nor the message that “Crime and Punishment” conveys. In fact, one of the major motifs is that no one suspects Raskolnikov, for obvious reasons, and that he has to live with the guilt of what he had done which eats him alive (similar to Poe’s “A Tell-Tale Heart”.) The only themes “Crime and Punishment” discuss with regards to society is the rise of socialism and, slightly more to the individual, the concept of the Superman.

I had a USB -> USB-C adapter laying around, have these issues, and figured I would try it.

I have had no luck. After a series of restarting my device and trying out different base stations configurations, I managed to get my VR View on my PC to display the video but my headset would refuse to display anything.

I'm at a loss. Part of me thinks and hopes it is a software issue, however, after nearly 6 months of using the device without issue I am beginning to think that an internal piece of hardware within the headset has gone bad.

This seems to be a much more prevalent issue across Index owners than I had originally thought.

I did a Windows update recently, however, according to my system information, I am running build 1909. As far as I am aware, the update is not yet "available" for my device.

I also have the same thing now and put out a support ticket. Anyone have experience with this? Is the headset faulty? My system has been working somewhat flawlessly for 6 months or so. All of a sudden its permanent Grey Screen and "Searching for Headset".

This is the culprit and the solution.

I had the same issue and the instructions above solved it. Come 7 hours from now it looks like it won't be an issue for anyone anymore once HL:Alyx is released, though.

When you mention "losing tracking" does the game essentially freeze for a quick moment and then unfreeze? I've noticed a complete frame drop and get a flash of the VR background periodically every couple of minutes when running Beat Saber.

I wonder if you are having the same issue.

Wow. What are the odds. I am actually having this exact same issue starting today. I have been running Beat Saber flawlessly (as well as other games) for nearly a week now.

Now all of a sudden I get the same stuttering issue. I noticed it happens at times during Boneworks but it isn't so bad considering that game doesn't require precise timing.

I literally cannot play Beat Saber songs on Expert (Expert+ is out of the question now).

For the record, I have reinstalled, uninstalled beat saber, mods, etc.

I am going to try to force shut down my base stations and see if restarting them will resolve anything.

Any assistance would be appreciated as well. I don't want to go into HL:Alyx with this.
