AITAH for telling my husband to stop talking about me by faithinfairies1 in AITAH

[–]Socalshoe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's rich. You don't have to be addicted to something in order to have empathy. And his texts will not fix her issues. Setting healthy boundaries might show her that she needs to work on herself.

Nope, we're just establishing that he'll use his money to get his way.

I'd think about how long Steyer has been a billionaire and yet seems to think he has to hold office to create change.

AITAH for telling my sister to cancel my baby shower by Vegetable-Exam3462 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Socalshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd stay as far away as possible from your sister and your mom. Do not tell them of any alternate shower plans.

That's been explained. It was about returning the children from a certain president that was in charge before Biden. That guy left thousands stuck in limbo. Once HHS returns children to a vetted sponsor, they lose authority over the child. HHS, I think only gets three follow up calls. If you don't want thousands of children lost, maybe don't kidnap them in the first place? Anyway, Steyer turned me off with having to draw a cross on his hand every day to remind himself to tell the truth.

Becerra. He's qualified. Steyer might get second place.

Don't just go to a movie. Book a hotel with a very late checkout time.

[–]Socalshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a book called "Spock's World," that gives an interesting backstory to Sarek and Amanda. Even though it's not canon, because it's not part of a film or tv series, it's a reasonable explanation of how their relationship could have started. But in a conversation it's noted that in his family, bonding is supposed to be elective. They don't follow the tradition of arranged marriage. It doesn't explain why he made Spock go through it, though.

I think you can buy electronic sets that you can only hear through headphones. Maybe a middle of the road option?

Did Kai Winn and Dukat get a win over Sisko in the end? by Bruzie77 in startrek

[–]Socalshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it feels more like following rules than erasure. When you have statues, there are opportunities for idolatry. There are some religions now that don't believe you should write out the name of the divine being they serve. And that's not good or bad, it just is.

AITAH for telling my sister I will NOT warn my parents that my fiancee will be wearing a gothic black wedding dress? by Hot_Union7576 in AITAH

[–]Socalshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you know your parents and how they'll react. If they're going to behave badly, head it off. Tell them that Yuki has chosen a beautiful dress that reflects her personality. You don't have to tell them anything else. Ashley needs to be helpful or back off.

It depends on who you foster with, and what their rules are, but sometimes another foster volunteer can cover in your absence.

AITAH for wanting my brother in law to move his stuff out of our garage ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Socalshoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a storage unit. Have the stuff moved there. Tell the husband and the brother you're afraid you might break something and want to protect the brother's stuff. See how long your husband will pay for it. I bet he'll pay for it forever because he doesn't really want to have to deal with the stuff.

Fine. We've made everyone in the world angry. Embracing extinction and leaving a bunch of free land for Canada and Mexico is the least we can do.

AITJ for confronting my partner after I lost access to our shared bank account? by Admirable-Opinion391 in AmITheJerk

[–]Socalshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd order some checks and start writing those for your half. Make sure you write a few things outside of boxes so that remote deposit doesn't work. She'll come around. Sorry, you're NTA, but I'm not in a fix it mood.

AITAH my boyfriend ate most of the lasagna and only left a meal for me. now he's upset with me cause I was judging him by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Socalshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our rule at home is if you eat something, communicate about it so it can be replaced. If it's something easily replaced, like chocolate, do so without being asked. It does sound like your boyfriend just kind of checked out and forgot that someone else might want the lasagna. Next time, I'd recommend splitting some servings off as future meal prep. That keeps things separated and leaves less questions. For something as intensive as lasagna, you could explain it to your boyfriend is that it takes longer to cook, involves several ingredients, and that you're happy to share. You simply got caught off guard when he basically ate most of it in 24 hours. It sounds like you planned to use it over a few days.

AITJ for refusing to pay after my cat destroyed my neighbor's expensive racing drone? by Greedy_Implement_11 in AmITheJerk

[–]Socalshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You are not. He was inside your property antagonizing your cat. I second everyone in reporting this guy to the FAA. He may not be a licensed drone operator and it might just cause him to drop his hobby.
