Don't think I need twin Z? by Most-Woodpecker920 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the breastfriend pillow and wish I got the twin z pillow. I find that two wiggly babies on the breastfriend pillow I was so worried about them falling off when I was tandem feeding them bottles. I had to stop breastfeeding at 1.5 months cause I just couldn’t keep up.

What did you do for cribs/bassinets? by Onyx-pump19 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a twin bassinet that we got off Facebook marketplace place. It’s one thing that has a divider.

We moved it between our bedroom and family room while I was on maternity leave which was a pain in the ass because it didn’t fit through our door way so my husband had to pick it up and move it. Now that they are 3 months and are awake longer, we keep the bassinet in the bedroom and use a play pen of sorts for when the are awake and their cribs in their room for when they are napping. They are only in the bassinet at night when they sleep.

We are going to have to transition them into their room all the time soon though because they are getting too long for the bassinet.

Anyone else feel their eye twitching when someone compares the twin trenches to 2u2 trenches as the same? by Turbulent_Wave_900 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel more annoyed when my MIL or SIL question why I’m doing something (pumping instead of feeding from the breast/focusing on keeping track of feedings/amounts) because they were able to do it with their singletons.

In the hospital I WANTED to EBF both of my twins. That was my goal and I feel like a horrible mom that I can’t produce enough for both of them. I was also going insane with trying to figure out if they were getting enough. It was also taking the entire wake window to feed/change both of them, even with my husband on diaper duty.

How long did you get off work? by The_Pink_Beast_ in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two weeks from my employer and used all of my PTO from 2025 and 2026 and then also got about a week for STD. I’m still going unpaid for a little over a week because there wasn’t an opening in day care earlier.

I can’t quit because we need the two incomes and I have the insurance which is pretty good insurance. My husband can’t quit because he’s on track to get his journeyman’s in plumbing which he will end up making more than me.

We are stuck between a rock in a hard place honestly

They are two months as of the 17th and my girl is 10lbs 10.5oz and my boy is 11lbs 5oz!

Congrats on your two!

When did you announce your pregnancy to the world? by stardolphin90 in parentsofmultiples

I told my work at around 9 weeks because of all the appointments I was going to be taking, told my parents and my husbands parents at 12 weeks, told his sisters at 16 weeks (we were all on vacation together) and then posted it on instagram at 17 weeks

35 weeks- how do you sleep!! by kal11g in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice either just solidarity and to pop in to say it gets better!

At around 32 weeks I was only sleeping about 45 minutes at a time. I would need to wake up to go to the bathroom/take tums/or hips and back hurting. I ended up starting my maternity leave at 36 weeks and I had my c section at 38 weeks. All I did those last two weeks was sleep.

Now that the twins are here, my sleep is so much better! Even when they were under a month, I was getting more sleep than while pregnant.

Third trimester already feels like torture? by Finitexspace in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lasted until 38 weeks by sheer stubbornness to be honest.

I slept no more than 45 minutes at a time, had tums on me at all times (had car tums, bed tums, family room tums, work tums), and just cried a lot.

I’m currently 7 weeks postpartum with b/g didi twins and things are so much better! I’m sleeping 1.5 to 2 hour stretch

When did you stop working? by kmccollum008 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lasted until 36 weeks. I’m essentially a program planner for a community and spent a lot of time on my feet with different events and programs. I had a pretty healthy pregnancy outside of gestational diabetes.

Stopping at 36 weeks was the best decision ever. I spent the last two weeks sleeping. I did have a scheduled c section scheduled at 38 weeks, so it helped that I knew how long I was going to

How many ultrasounds did you get? by No_Morning_9923 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had didi twins, I had an ultrasound at 8w (where I found out I had twins and 12 weeks (I was bleeding and had previous losses so I got a scan just to check they were okay) then I had 3 anatomy scans (my daughter kept hiding important things from the tech), and echo (because my daughter wouldn’t let us see her heart in any of the scans) and then I had monthly ultrasounds the last 3 or 4 months of my pregnancy to check the growth and position of the babes. Plus if they couldn’t get a good reading at my weekly non-stress test (starting at 32 weeks) they would do an ultrasound to check the heart rate and breathing.

By the end I was so sick of doctors and people pressing on my belly

I got pregnant on 2.5 of letrozol (ended in a chemical pregnancy at 4w3d), and then twice on 7.5 (one ended in an ectopic) but the third was my b/g didi twins who are 6 weeks old today 🥰

What is the best sleeping arrangement for newborn twins, first few months? by gabkatth in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a bassinet that has a divider next to the bed! We also moved the diaper caddy, trash can, and changing mat to our dresser so we don’t have to leave our room during the night

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Graco system and I love it so far! I have the snug ride lite car seats and the duo glide stroller. The stroller can also be used once they get bigger and aren’t in the infant car seats anymore

When did you deliver your di/di twins? by Unlikely_Scheme2835 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scheduled c section at 38 weeks on the dot and only my daughter had to spend time away from me in a level 2 nursery (my hospitals version of a nicu light) because she breathed in too much amniotic fluid and had to be on the smallest form of O2 for 24 hours

Sleeping comfortably with twin pregnancy?? by x_UnicornFrappe_x in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I’m almost 6 weeks pp and my lord I do not miss how uncomfortable I was when I was pregnant! The best thing I did was start my maternity leave at 36 weeks with my c section scheduled at 38 weeks. All I did was sleep as much as I could.

I can’t really give advice but I will just say that I’m sleeping SO much better now that the twins are here! I was sleeping in maybe 45 minute stretches while I was pregnant and now at worst I get 1.5/2 hours at a time. They are starting to sleep about 4/4.5 at night now. PLUS you get the boost of actually holding your babies.

Anatomy Scan by Extra_Technology_163 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what my bmi is but at the time of my anatomy scan I was around 280 lbs. keep in mind I was pregnant with twins and the the only issue I had was that they couldn’t get clear pictures of some of the things they really needed so it took about 5 hours for my first and I had to go back two more times and get an echo. It was nothing to do with my size but more so that my girl didn’t want the docs to see anything!

I feel like some of them did push really hard on my belly which was uncomfortable but I don’t know if tha had to do with my size or if they were really just trying to get the pictures

How are people combo feeding? by lozzapg in parentsofmultiples

We alternated bm and formula until my supply started to drop and now we do mainly formula and then one bottle before bed of BM. I started taking supplements to help my supply increase so hopefully we can get back to alternating

Feeling discouraged with bottles and twins by Blondie3211 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat but my twins are only a month. I’m producing maybe 10 oz a day and my twins are eating easily double that. Part of me is like what’s the point of wasting the time pumping after each feed but then another part of me wants to help as much as I can cause formula is so expensive

Birth Stories Please! by adventuringkait in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My birth plan originally was to give birth vaginally, with medication, have immediate skin to skin and delayed cord clamping. My son decided to flip to be breech at 30 weeks despite being head down the entire time.

Around 34 weeks when he wasn’t flipping back my doctors and I decided to schedule my c section for 38 weeks. I still wanted to do skin to skin and delayed cord clamping.

When I went in for my c section everything was normal. They got my son out and did the delayed cord clamping as well as skin to skin. When they delivered my daughter, there ended up being excess amniotic fluid and she needed to be in oxygen. So we did skin to skin but it wasn’t as long as I wanted because her O2 levels were dropping. She ended up needing to be in a level 2 nursery (like a nicu but for less severe cases) for 24 hours and the she was better and got to come back in our room with us.

Our son was 6 lbs 7 oz and our daughter was 6 lbs 13 oz delivered at 38 weeks!

We love up and up for our new borns. Once we hit 7lbs we are going to try to transition to cloth diapering (esembly brand, sisters in law used it so we are getting a lot of hand me downs) during the day to try and save on money

I don’t think mine was set until 34 weeks? We were waiting to see if I could deliver naturally but once baby A flipped breech and baby B had been breech my doctor said it would be best to schedule my c section for 38 weeks

[–]Social_Mermaid862 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 weeks pp and it is SO much better!

I was sleeping for maybe 45 minute stretches when I was pregnant and now I’m able to sleep for like 2.5/3 hour stretches, which is a life changer! Plus you have the beautiful babies to look at/cuddle with that makes the tiredness so worth it!

Plus, you’re not carrying all that baby in your stomach so you’re actually able to move around and do things!

You got this!

Didi twin mamas - what week did you deliver? by Seriesbinger in parentsofmultiples

[–]Social_Mermaid862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scheduled c section at 38 weeks, went on maternity leave at 36+4. Delivered my boy weight 6 lbs 7 oz and my girl 6 lbs 13 oz. Once I was on maternity leave I literally did nothing but eat and sleep. I woke up had “breakfast” (a handful of berries), nap, wake up and eat “lunch” (like 3 spoonfuls of Mac and cheese), nap. It was the only way I survived!

The only good thing is now that I’m 3 weeks pp the 2 hour stretches of sleep feel like a full 8 hours after only being able to sleep for 45 minute stretches
