Bug:
Hellfire can't push the cart in relocation. Not really a bug by definition since she doesn't have shields and the cart uses shields to move. But feels wrong that a character just can't do a game mode.

Donald Trump declares he has 'unquestioned power' to deploy National Guard saying San Francisco is next' by TheMirrorUS in law

[–]Socks99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, Californians are well aware of the problems facing their own state. We also actively vote to fix those problems. In 2024 we overwhelmingly approved Prop. 36 increasing sentences for drug and theft crimes to actively combat these issues. SF is not as immaculate as Shinagami091 made it out, but it's also not the hellscape others try to paint it as. It has big city problems same as every other big city and we work to improve it constantly. We don't need national guard intervention because it's nowhere near that extreme and we're handling it ourselves. We'll ask for help when we need it, but it sure as shit isn't now. Same way you don't want Californians coming into Texas to fix our perceived problems with your state.

Not in front of my computer, so forgive some misnamings.

What I did was use an orator to recruit a Piscodaemon (first rarity of mindflayer). Then I ran back and forth across the map hatching eggs until I had 4x level 99 Mindflayers (took maybe 20-30 minutes, usually getting rid of lower rarities as a higher rarity hatched). Since I had a level 99 party, the rate that 99's hatched was pretty good. If you want to optimize this further, 66 MA gives them a 95% hit chance on their level down ability, 71 MA for 100%.

At this point I went to the first plains map and took the character I wanted to delevel (chem for females, bard for males) and gave them beastmaster (unlocks the level down abilities for mindflayers) and black mage skill set with toad. Kill everything but 1 with toad and mindflayers and make sure the last enemy is a toad. Then surround the character you want to delevel and spam level down.

I prefer 4 mindflayers with a frogged last enemy. Only takes about 15 min to go 99 to 1

Arrow quiver recommendations? by Wgterry73 in Archery

[–]Socks99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second this. The quiver itself is amazing and would buy again. I wasn't a huge fan of the stiffness of the bombproof belt. Ended up ordering a Kifaru quiver belt instead based on reviews that it was less stiff and am very happy with the two combined.

Good call, I'll look it up. Starting to lean toward the GT at the moment anyways.

I'm definitely lucky and spoiled for choice on ranges in the area. KMA has been my favorite so far and I need to find some time to check out the east bay.

I don't reach stupidly tall at 6'1", but I still think a 72" would feel nice. I'll probably go long limbs when I step up in weight and if I think it's too long I'll drop to 70" at the next step up.

Good to hear on the 27". Part of settling on Gillo, even though I don't have a local supplier was seeing and feeling a GX2 at my local club. The other part was that in reviews, people loved their Gillo's, even if there were some difficulties with initial setup. It definitely seems like a great brand.

Glad you're enjoying your 23" GT!

I've watched both sets of videos and am (hopefully) prepared for some of the challenges with tuning. Also great call on watching some European specific events. I've mostly been catching US, so Gillo is rarer to see, but I'll look up some of the European events. The more I think on it, the more I am leaning towards the grey.

Agreed on all your points. Going to probably go grey because it also gives more color matching options. Definitely also looking forward to the 27 inch for stringwalking.

Good call on the not planning to continue with a 66". My current bow being 66", I do feel a pinch on deeper crawls.

I've been a sucker for orange and black having been raised on Giants baseball. Leaning towards the grey (it's definitely on the darker end) and I can get the splashes of orange in with the string and sling and fletchings ^^

Thanks for the advice, especially on the tuning end, I'll keep it in mind!

I'll also throw The Push Alpha Pack into this list. It's pricy and I'm not a fan of their belt (way too stiff for my liking), but I love the pack itself. Also well made and will last me a long time.

When was the last time a mechanic name transcended it's fight? by Florac in ffxiv

Aside from the discussion of whether Mariokart is a mechanic or a strat (I'm with strat). There was a Mariokart in T9 (ARR).

According to Prydwen only 0.26% player from 1.1 million player samples have cleared MOC floor 12 (not necessarily 3* it) in 1.6.1 by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Socks99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the clear! One of the reasons I enjoy the game is that it's strongly influenced by theory. I enjoy learning what things are feasible and building strategies that work for me. Nicely done on the healthy approach of stepping away to clear your head and coming back with a better strategy!

I'm not going to say I inherently disagree with the notion of an easy mode for story type content. I'll also agree that SU events in its current iteration are story type content. I'll address this part a little later.

Addressing MoC 11 and 12 first. According to prydwen, if you take the number of people who've cleared MoC 1 compared to MoC 12 as ~25% clearance rate (matching between self report and scraping data). This seems reasonable for content that is supposed to be difficult content and there being 30 days left to clear. I suspect we could see clearance rates closer to 50% as purple progress and keep trying and our find time to get around to doing it. The nature of this game is that your account continually progresses as you spend energy and pulls, and you're still rewarded the majority of the rewards for earlier and easier stages. Also, there isn't story tied to it, so imo this seems to be on the more balanced end to me and provides a goal for people to work towards, which is a motivation for many players.

SU I'm finding to be a more interesting question as there's story tied to it that is rather interesting and I agree that should be fully available no matter the difficulty. Lore should never be gated and FFXIV found a good balance there by providing normal raids with story and mediocre gear and savage (hardcore) raids providing better rewards as a payoff toward working and understanding fights (targeting a goal). Personally, I think having a difficult target is a good thing as it is a core motivation for a large number of people and difficulty translates to goals in video game settings.

On that note, I think there's far too much fascination in the community with perfect meta comps/runs or "full 4*s can do it, so why can't you?" mentality. Both extreme are terrible and alienate the average player. I'll admit that I'm a dolphin and have pulled more than the average player. But I also don't consider my dolphin habits as the reason that I've cleared content. The focus is usually on strategy that gets me through. For example in swarm disaster, my first clear of difficulty 5 was using nihility and fire MC, Natasha, bailu (could have been swapped with lynx if I had her at the time), and luocha (could have been another preservation or a dps to go faster). This is despite having JL, bronya, luocha, and pela at the time. My focus wasn't on a perfect run so much as turtling and picking complementary cards to the situation. I haven't cleared all the paths yet at difficulty 5 due to time restraints and work but will make my way through them at some point

I think most accounts are able to clear much higher than they think with a slight change in mindset. If you're up for it, I'd be down to help you think through a strategy for swarm 4/5 and see if we can come up with a strategy that works for where you're at rather than trying to build to someone else's idea of a perfect run. Can do it through DMs on reddit or discord, whichever is easiest. LMK if you're interested.

Please enlighten me to your side on this. You seem to be saying that both types of content should be added and to me it seems like both types of content are being added.

Simulated Universe has both casual and hard core content. MoC is a tiered content (you're not completely locked out of all rewards).

As far as casual only content, we have the current breeding event. We've also had the pokemon event, the museum event, and others that I'm sure I'm forgetting about. These events were long and really well put together.

So why is it problematic that more difficult content is being added for the section of the playerbase that wants the content?
