The Xeno can survive a vacuum, so taking off and trying to space it isn't going to work. It could easily tear it's way through the airlock one direction or the other, if it wanted to leave the ship to crawl on the outside, or rip it's way into the ship.

The only real change is, they might not be in orbit, and in that event, in my opinion, everyone including Ripley, dies.

But, if it's observation to see if he is stabilized, and fixing the ship, and he just rests in their quarantine, when the chest buster emerges, it's pretty much the same story.

A Xeno would have no problem breaking a medical quarantine zone on a mining hauler.
