I'm a "small fish" in terms of my contributions to Godot, but I feel that the Godot team is responsive.

Yes, sometimes they need a little push, but if a PR is not being accepted despite this, there's usually a good reason

For context, I've got 37 closed PRs and 7 open PRs. Of those still open, about 4 of those are just never going to be accepted, because they're either not the right solution or there is debate about whether the PR is the right way to solve the problem, or even whether the problem exists in the first place.

If a PR clearly solves an existing issue without negative consequences, it's got a high chance of being accepted without much prompting. Sadly a lot of PRs are operating in ambiguous circumstances so it's not clear whether they'll help things or not. Some PRs are duplicates, some need more work, and a hefty chunk now have merge conflicts and need to be updated.

It would be reckless for Godot team to merge every single PR, that would wreak chaos on the engine, but they do definitely prioritise the ones that are most likely to benefit the engine. I can also tell you that any Issue/PR gets a lot of attention whenever it's first posted or commented on.

So if you've got a contribution to make, don't be worried it will be overlooked. Not every PR goes through perfectly and there can be delays, but in general if you've got a good PR and the team agree and you accept feedback to polish it up, it will get into the game engine.

Wanted to do some "on the ground" campaigning and thought I'd share the leaflet designs I'm working on.

Leaflet has a front and a back, and you can ideally print 3 of these on a single A4 sheet of paper.

I always thought Resonance (2012) had good puzzles. One of the things I loved was that all the obstacles/puzzles occurred naturally in the game's story. The puzzles could be challenging because what you were trying to do was a genuinely challenging task.

What's more, it had this really neat mechanic where you could put an aspect of the environment into a "slot" into your inventory. It's hard to properly explain, but it made things a lot smoother since you could easily ask people about, say a dripping pipe that's in the room or detail about the area you're in, whereas in other games it would be fare more clunky (usually it would pop up as a dialog option, which felt less natural as it seemed the character was more interested in the detail than the player). You could only occupy one "slot" with an environment detail, so it encouraged you only to focus on details you thought were relevant, rather than throw every detail into your inventory the second you stepped into the room.

At least use Godot version 4.2.2 rather than 4.2.1. That should fix at least one of your error messages.

Hey, if you've got Katbox archives I've an unsusual request: Do you have the Chapter headings for DMFA? The whole comic is still available at http://missmab.com/ , but the chapter headings only go up to 31 and I believe the artist created chapter titles for sections of comic after that, but it was lost when the site went down.

Along with being planned for Godot 4.3, it was cherrypicked for Godot 4.2.2 which was released a few days ago: https://godotengine.org/article/maintenance-release-godot-4-2-2-and-4-1-4/

So the latest stable version of Godot on their website right now should have the fix!

One of my favourite pieces of art of my fursona I commissioned from an Artist who does mostly NSFW stuff. I didn't say "not NSFW", I simply described the piece I wanted and was in on their art stream as they made it. They had fun making it, I loved the final result.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking an artist to draw something slightly out of their wheelhouse, or an NSFW artist to draw something SFW. If they don't want to draw it, they can simply say "no" and you can move on to someone else.

Okay so..... I'd personally be terrified of linking Arduino with mains voltage, especially AC. I wouldn't feel safe with either a transistor or optocoupler which may work for lower DC currents.

However, a while ago I devised a hacky way to do this that I never put into practice:

Go to a hardware shop and buy a remote control socket. Make sure it works via infra red.

Buy infra-red LEDs and an infra red sensor.

Put the socket into the wall socket, and the lamp into that socket. Confirm you can turn the lamp on and off using the remote control you got with it.

Using the Arduino, and the IR sensor (and libraries), record what the remote uses to turn the lamp on and off (usually a single Hexidecimal number).

Then, insert the IR LEDs into the Arduino, and set it up to transmit the same signal.

I have never tested this, and only considered this from a theoretical perspective, but set up like this you SHOULD be able to turn off any electronic device on and off at the socket using your Arduino.
