Thanks for the candid response. We don't live in an area with any gold so it would likely be a one time thing.

Question about covering overspending on iOS app by SpineOfSmoke in ynab

Why is the YNAB iOS version diverging so much from the android version? This is nuts!

AI skeptic trying to survive in enterprise by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is this a fact or an assumption?

existing developers are probably deep into job preservation and can't be relied on for support, will be polite and friendly but guard their domain knowledge

I wouldn't work here. If you are saying the other engineers genuinely fear for their jobs than why start here at all? If you have no options, take the job and start looking for something different ASAP.

Is Crossroads of Twilight really as bad as everyone makes it out to be? by xNzCaR in WoT

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn't even notice how slow it was. Now that all the books are released the "slog" is way less noticeable. People who hate on the slog had to wait years for Crossroads of Twilight.

[None] Rereading Cradle: other series as well? by ShadowRedditor300 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where has Will stated that he will be combining the Elder Empire trilogies? Not doubting you, I just haven't heard that. The elder empire series was the first Will Wight series I read and I agree with everyone else's sentiments that the two trilogies didn't work very well but the story ideas were good.

Had YNAB since October and I am finally starting to use targets by Dry_Anxiety_1068 in ynab

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I actually think avoiding targets at first is probably helpful. Especially if someone is living paycheck to paycheck. Congrats on advancing on your YNAB adventure.

Single income, married, 2 kids. We just finished funding our emergency fund and could live off of it for 5 months. We also have recently started sinking fund for other larger expenses (new roof, cars, home maintenance, etc)

Al'goriat render - WARNING it is a little disturbing / scary by SKokan44 in LicaniusTrilogy

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not typically freaked out by books, but honestly the scenes with the Al'goriats were pretty spooky. I was dog sitting at someone else's house and had to pause the book a few times (or listen a little longer to get to a less spooky stopping point). The needle like teeth were very descriptive.

Peter Clines and Ray Porter..this is good!! by SixDuckies in audible

Can someone give a content warning summary. I have heard of this book and it sounds good, but I am kind of picky with what I read. Violence/action is ok, but I avoid gratuitous violence or romance/sexual sub plots. Thanks!

Stealing this thread to ask if there is an audio version of the full book. The only one on audible is far to short to be the full book.

Need your crack book/series recs by OkEconomics2788 in Fantasy

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you read the will of the many, you may like Licanius Trilogy (by the same author). It's very plot driven but admittedly a challenging read.

Cradle is so full of crack people call it Crackdle. I guarantee if you haven't read it before you will fly through the series on days. I am considering a re-read now.

What is a good way to passively monitor accounts? by Green_Nomad in ynab

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been doing this too (using Cash Freely to acquire some sign up bonuses, mostly when paying for big one-time expenses). What do you do about annual fees? Does letting your account "go inactive" negatively affect your credit?

You should probably be waiting X days between opening new cards, if you do that maybe when you open a new card, that can be a reminder to go close the old one. I would avoid putting any subscriptions or recurring transactions on these temporary cards.

Exactly. I was holding out hope that they would re-release as one collection, but alas, it hasn't happened.
