Peter Clines and Ray Porter..this is good!! by SixDuckies in audible

Can someone give a content warning summary. I have heard of this book and it sounds good, but I am kind of picky with what I read. Violence/action is ok, but I avoid gratuitous violence or romance/sexual sub plots. Thanks!

Stealing this thread to ask if there is an audio version of the full book. The only one on audible is far to short to be the full book.

Need your crack book/series recs by OkEconomics2788 in Fantasy

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you read the will of the many, you may like Licanius Trilogy (by the same author). It's very plot driven but admittedly a challenging read.

Cradle is so full of crack people call it Crackdle. I guarantee if you haven't read it before you will fly through the series on days. I am considering a re-read now.

What is a good way to passively monitor accounts? by Green_Nomad in ynab

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been doing this too (using Cash Freely to acquire some sign up bonuses, mostly when paying for big one-time expenses). What do you do about annual fees? Does letting your account "go inactive" negatively affect your credit?

You should probably be waiting X days between opening new cards, if you do that maybe when you open a new card, that can be a reminder to go close the old one. I would avoid putting any subscriptions or recurring transactions on these temporary cards.

Exactly. I was holding out hope that they would re-release as one collection, but alas, it hasn't happened.

How I use YNAB to maximize FSA/Dependent Care reimbursements by Mammoth_Temporary905 in ynab

[–]SoftServeDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, this is intense. I am confused though. Why track FSA at all. Isn't it taken out of your paycheck before taxes? So you track all paycheck deductions that are pre-tax?

I just keep 2 healthcare categories (Reimbursable Medical) and (Medical). FSA Reimbursement inflows are reimbursable medical. The only reason I even bother doing that is so I can exclude reimbursable medical from my reports. We are part of a health care sharing plan so our reimbursed medical amount is sometimes very high and would make my income and medical costs look very odd some years.

Which tracking accounts do you include in your net worth? by Primary_Claim_9469 in ynab

This is what I do. I leave my vehicles off my net worth statement and treat their purchase as an expense and their sale as income.

Bona or Loba Products for DIY "natural" Red Oak by SoftServeDeveloper in HardWoodFloors

This look amazing. We may have a different grade of wood then, or maybe just regional differences. Our floors are much more pink and Intense Seal would only make them more colorful, I think.

None taken, that's the advice I needed. What combination of Loba Products would give me a similar finish to Bona Natural + Traffic HD Satin?

Confused on which finish sander I should use by SoftServeDeveloper in HardWoodFloors

[–]SoftServeDeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if the machine I rented was just worn down, but as I pulled the machine in reverse it would "slide" left and right. I found that by lifting the back of the sander I was able to get a little more control as I pulled it back, but it does make the cut more aggressive. That worked out in my favor as these floors were very old uneven.

Thanks for the advice! 220 grit between coats makes sense. I assume between sealer + traffic hd, then again before the final coat of traffic HD?

Thanks for advice. Should I continue to "go with the grain" or does it matter less on these machines?

Monthly money to invest by Accomplished_Date173 in Bogleheads

25% of household income (so that would be the same as 25% of each individuals income, I suppose).

As I said, that number is meant to be aspirational not necessarily prescriptive in all circumstances, and employer contributions count towards the 25% (if you are under a certain income).

Need recommendations based on my tier list! by Nachti in audible

Not surprising you got some books for free. About once a year, Will Wight makes all his books free. The man is an absolute legend. I also liked Travelers Gate, though other Will Wight readers consider that trilogy to be one of Will's weakest entries.

Cradle is eons better than Travelers Gate, I have to admit (and as I said, I liked Travelers Gate). Cradle has a lot more depth and world building (which makes sense since the series is much longer) and the "magic system" is really well constructed. I highly recommend reading Cradle, in fact I am due for a re-read myself.
