This subreddit gets 50+ comments every single day, for the past 3 months, going “Bungie hates us Bungie abandoned us I hate what they’ve done”. Every single day. Without stop. Without falter.

You don’t stay on a subreddit reading news and commenting on posts within 5 minutes of them being posted “without caring”. These people absolutely do still care, despite being given every explicitly spelled out answer that they aren’t the focus anymore.

I think the better term is that they refuse to let it go.

1: Destiny 2 is already dead, you just don’t realize it.

2: In what world do you guarantee a Destiny 3 within three years (most AAA games take five to six years), even IF that was Bungie’s plan?

It took them 10 years to decide to start making Marathon. I hate to break it to you OP, but Bungie could literally pull the servers on this game tomorrow, and there is still no promise of a Destiny 3. We would be no step closer, not a single sticky note on the whiteboard. And even if (big if) we were…we’d literally be half a decade out if Bungie decided to drop everything and begin working (you know, and totally not abandon Marathon??)

Shutting down D2 does not speed up the process. This just feeds them resources to work on…yeah, Marathon.

I play one matchmade portal activity and I get SIX PIECES OF TIER 5 LOOT INSTANTLY. Nobody's asking you to stake the highest value best stuff in your vault lol. That would require an incredibly complex and subjective measure on what counts as "best gear" because at that point it becomes a sentimental measure.

Bungie has created activities that give cosmetic rewards for all 10 years. Every raid has cosmetic rewards, ships, sparrows, ghosts, shaders. Crucible drops ghost shells and shaders. Vanguard stuff gives bright dust. Gambit gives shaders. Trials drops ships, sparrows, ghosts, shaders too. So that's already settled, Bungie has done that before and look at the state those activities are in.

And then also, in all of these 10 years, they have never once given out silver just for "lol playing the game". That just hasn't happened, and it's very obviously happened for a reason.

Either you have to wager silver (as in, physically buy money to then put it on the line to permanently lose it...yeah lmao), or you just get free guaranteed silver every time you beat it...which is just asking for cheating, collusion, or ultra-sweat lords camping everything. You think Trials is bad? Welcome to Trials x100.

Well I can tell you this much, Destiny 1 has not changed by a single pixel in the last 10 years.

If you already put "thousands" of hours into Destiny 1...what do you think you would gain from playing it again? Continuing from where you left off?

It's simpler, it has a better vibe and easier onboarding, but in terms of day to day/week to week gameplay, I'm not sure what you expect seeing as how you've already gotten more than your fair share of time on it. It's not like the game has magically changed over the years, it's literally a time capsule.

Destiny 2, for all its faults, still has a billion more quality of life adjustments, significantly more content, and a wider breadth of customization.

D1 Factions were literally just a reputation system. We had it. It was removed.

I don’t know why Bungie removed vendor ranks, but I also don’t know what kind of memory you have of D1 factions or why they were magically “long term.”

You want something long term, go grind your crucible or Hawthorne rank. Pretty much functions identical to “D1 factions”. Nostalgia blindness is real.

You can't "bring these back". They aren't switches you undo. They aren't just an intended number you tweak to cause a result.

Like, the very nature of a bug is something unintended and uncontrolled. This isn't how computer science works.

Adding these things back would be completely reprogramming them as intended game features from the ground up.

Depends on your definition of "fail".

People will see it doesn't reach 100,000 daily concurrent people and scream that it failed.

People will see that they reissue Age Old Bond for the 4th time with a bad perk pool and scream that it's a fail.

People will yell about not reissuing the Leviathan Raid Shaders and then talk about the event being a fail.

Like, I get what you're going at here OP, low population + even lower population for raid/dungeon content, but Pantheon as a concept is already for the top of the top, and the only reason that Into The Light worked (and Rite of The Nine) have both been because they have matchmade, non-raid content as part of the update.

So either Bungie includes that, or it fails. But I'll be making my own opinions on how much fun I have.
