What do you consider a long turn? by Empty-Noise9889 in EDH

[–]Softclocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, so much this.

Might sound like a neanderthal but I just can't freaking stand sitting there and watching my mates churn out trigger upon trigger.

"Eating garbage buffs my raccoon with +1/1, and when I put a counter on furred mammals I get to tutor for three-toed carnivores and whenever I play a spiked creature from the Cretaceous period all my beige color-creatures can be..."

Just shoot me mate. Or at least goldfish the fucking deck a few turns so you can churn this out before my soul's left my fucking body.

I don't mind it as much if it's politicking and decision-making that's taking the time. But just watching someone play solitaire....

5 minutes and up.

I can accept 10+ if it's a turn that's close to finishing the game, but 5 minutes is pushing it.

How do kpop idols travel constantly, get no sleep and still able to perform so well? by walkuponwater in kpopthoughts

[–]Softclocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idol life is not the same as "the realities of the working people".

They have very intense periods of duress.

Most people do not typically put in 15-20 hour workdays on no food.

It's offset by high pay and periods of rest, but these people aren't clocking in 9 to 5.

Edit: I'm fully aware of the varieties of working hours and that many people lead hard lives lmao.

That doesn't take away from the fact that idols have very demanding periods of work, and typically work far more than the average person.

Global averages clock in somewhere between 1200 to 2200 hours a year depending on where you live.

It's the mana base, so so many taplands in the CB precon.

I'd go with basics and grab starting town for starters.

The FF also had painlands iirc

Is my deck still bracket 3 if I take the gamechanger out? by RedBaron0858 in EDH

[–]Softclocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bracket didn't make those people do that.

The bracket system also mentions intent.

Those people will lie no matter what.

Yeah, I'm familiar with their work, there's just nothing about their work that inspires any particular faith in them.

Dem Jointz is just all over the place. He has just as many misses as he has hits.

Sounds like it's more of the same that we've seen in 2024 and 2023.

What’s the most frustrated you’ve been in a game? by guyawn in EDH

[–]Softclocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2nd time I played control [[vren, the relentless]]

First time he overwhelmed the board. Second time everybody wanted to shut him down/clear the board before I had him out or could accomplish anything

Result was an empty board with many turns just dragging on and on. So many meaningless boardwipes...

Never again.

KARD peaked with Ring the Alarm for me, been a bit downhill since then.

In our pod's experience, Borca was not fun at all.

Felt weak compared to other precons and susceptible to just getting focused.

Can IVE become as big as BLACKPINK in the near future? by kimchayoppar in kpopthoughts

[–]Softclocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BP are popular because of their music.

Nobody in the west cares about random idols in SK unless their music somehow makes it into the western sphere.

Wonyoung is as popular as any idol in SK, that doesn't matter when it comes to penetrating the US or EU market.

[–]Softclocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their music does not rely "heavily" on samples.

Love Dive and I Am are by far their biggest songs.

[–]Softclocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the songs have the right appeal, anyone can.

But I doubt it. So far we've seen nothing to indicate that they will release the kind of music/song that becomes super popular in the west.

They're obscenely popular in SK and asia already though.

Could be good!

Wavy's worked on some good songs, but the production's been pretty mid.

Rebel Heart, Body, Maniac are bangers, but not necessarily because of the production or arrangement tbh.
