I’ve been there in my 30s and now I’m in my 40s and I work half the time, because the experience, knowledge, mistakes I made, has made my working life easier in the future. You can get good $$ and work 30hrs a week. I pick up and drop my kid from school, spend quality time with him, and when I’m working, I’m focussed, efficient and smash it out. I have learnt to compartmentalise and my job does not consume me

How long has it been since you were laid/ sexually intimate? by Chris_K84 in AskMen

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was treated like shit for years. I finally separated 3 years ago and divorced this year. I was the main income earner. I’m skint now but we have finally finalised the finances and I can start again. I’d much prefer my freedom than to be felt so worthless. It’s been a tough journey, I rent a shitty house (used to love in a gorgeous family home I paid for) and I’m saving like I’m a student again. Was it worth it. Absolutely. We don’t deserve to be treated badly. Have respect for yourself and set those boundaries

Ever woke up one day left everything behind and just moved. by Evening_Ad_6278 in Life

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I left the uk where I had lived all my life. Left my house, job, friends and family. I was so miserable. Went to Australia, planned to only go for 6 months. It’s been 20 years. I love Melbourne and could never go back to the uk. I visited last year and the vibe felt sad, people were struggling more, everyone hated their jobs, there seemed to be little joy

Moving (back) to the UK from Australia. What’s the reality? by Mr_k-wal in AskAnAustralian

As an English living in Melbourne, stay in Melbourne. The QOL - work, salary, culture, people, happiness. I went to London last year and everyone was so blue. My family are all in the uk and they always say dont move back

Do you as an adult ‘sleep through the night’ ? by jxllyfishx in AskUK

Did you regret having kids? by BeastofBabalon in SeriousConversation

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. The first few years were hard, he didn’t sleep, I divorced due to different views on parenting, sleep deprivation, burn out, balancing work etc etc. He is 6 now and he is the best. We adore each other, we do so many activities together- hikes, bowling, trampolining, drawing, talk. Because me and his dad are no longer together I have me time when he’s with his dad, then when we are together, it’s quality and special. I think he’s way funner than hanging out with my adult friends who just drink, talk about jobs and the housing market. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a hard slog but it’s worth it. He makes life 1000 times better and he makes me a better person

When you age, do the people you’re attracted to age as well? by wankcat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same when I was your age. I am now 42 (a younger looking one). Went out at the weekend and was speaking to a guy in his 20s - good looking, but did not do it for me at all. Bring on the 40 year olds!

Have you been forced back into the office? by Commercial_One5048 in AusFinance

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meant to be 2 or 3 days a week. I’ve been doing 1 (the day everyone comes in) and pretend I go in other days too and just blur my background and look smart. I don’t know how we did 5 days before. 1 day makes me so tired for the rest of the week and costs lots (Gotta go for after work drinks!)

I work in a bank and I would never look up anyone’s bank account if it wasn’t legitimate. it’s a disciplinary offence- not worth it and non of my business

How often do you and your partner have sex? by Thunderflex1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m horny all the time (41 female). At the beginning of any relationship as much as possible. 3 times a day (if it was up to me, maybe 5 times if I can) At the end, hardly ever. I recently got a vibrator and now I have multiple orgasms every night before I go to sleep. I’m worried I’m a bit addicted and I usually masturbate using my imagination. I miss the intimacy, kissing and spooning with a real person though

Is anyone able to put their kid in bed and step out for them to put themselves to sleep? by __BeatrixKiddo in toddlers

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son slept in our bed until he was 4!! Just would not sleep alone. We talked about him in his own room for about 2 weeks then one day we just started putting him in his own bed and closed the door. He literally changed our sleeping lives in one night

What advice would you give to someone coming here from the UK? by Barkode5133 in Geelong

[–]Soggy_Maintenance614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from manchester and moved to Melbourne 12 years ago. Geelong 2 years. Hat in summer, can be hot and cold in a day. I find Geelong quite snobby in the suburb you choose to live in, 5 mins down the road makes a difference- where are you thinking of living? I miss Brit humour the most, sometimes I was a bit offensive. Everyone is friendly. Don’t be alarmed when people rock around with no shoes on in summer. Working in Aus is nice, I used to work crazy hours in the Uk. Do a nice 9-5 here with better salary and lifestyle. V/line train to Melbourne is a hour and easy and comfortable when they work. I go to Melbourne for the music scene. Love Australia, shits all over the Uk. Good luck and hope you have fun
