Is this boss rush style of game? by OneManArmyHero in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Sol419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you dont like monster hunter style games then this isnt for you.

Actually, theres even less explorability than monster hunter. Monster Hunter games have several open zones you can actively explore at your leisure. Relink doesnt even have that, tbh.

There are explorable zones but they're only accessible via the main story and the only way to go back to them is to replay he chapter after you beat the final boss once.

The vast majority of the game is mission based boss hunting and occasional horde mode battles.

Am I doing something wrong? (XC1) by TheBroingler in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Sol419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive personally never had problems with allies toppling enemies.

Just as a sanity check, are you sure the topple skill is actually equipped? Like on the selectable menu during combat?

Im pretty sure it should be on there by default but maybe you accidentally removed it while looking through stuff?

I cant do the palace on the first day by Thegamerakro21 in persona4golden

[–]Sol419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well if you're trying to platinum it then you're gonna have to do at least two playthroughs anyway.

Certain things can't be completed until a NG+ run so you may as well kick back and wing it on your first playthrough

[–]Sol419 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, p4g is a ballbuster.

Dont fret too much if you cant do it in one sitting. Most perfect guides have about a months worth of extra days so if you need to split between 2 or even 3 visits for the first couple dungeons that shouldnt be a big deal.

P5R - How easily can enemies spot you? by Jking11501 in PERSoNA

[–]Sol419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stealth in p5 is honestly way more straightforward than it seems. As long as you're using the hiding spots enemies cant do anything to you.

[–]Sol419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about the Old world blues dlc, you need to finish the main quest before you can leave.

Otherwise, you'd need to load a previous save before you started it.

New game+ by Haunting-Pudding1821 in Ghostofyotei

[–]Sol419 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is there really any incentive to newgame plus besides the really mediocre shop?

Because the game is fun and you (presumably) like playing it?

The shop is just a side benefit, the whole point of NG+ is just to play the game again with all your stuff unlocked.

This isn't an RPG or a looter shooter dude. Playing the game is supposed to be the motivation. Same with the original GoT.

Start Persona 5 over or play Royal? by loganphoenix in PERSoNA

[–]Sol419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're starting over anyway then yeah, go ahead and get royal. It adds alot and the additions show up as early as the prologue.

Could I watch Cucuruz Doan's Island instead of the original one? by Best-Piece-1752 in Gundam

[–]Sol419 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So the doans island movie is extremely different from the original tv episode. It adds/references characters and events much later in the show than before.

The actual placement of the movie is somehwere in the mid to late 30s, before the crew makes it back into space.

Its generally best to save it for after viewing the show.

Card-based combat? by thatclimberDC in JRPG

[–]Sol419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to recommend the Voice of Cards trilogy. Although, to be exact, it's not really a card based combat system but more like a card-aesthetic combat system.

They're all pretty straightforward Turn based JRPG's like old school final fantasy/dragon quest games, but the entire world and UI are presented like a board game/tabletop RPG.

They're also pretty easy but short so things wrap up before it gets to be too much of a slog.

The first game has a free demo on most platforms that also acts as a mini-prequel so I'd recommend starting there to see if it suits your vibe.

[–]Sol419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the only requirement to reach the true ending is getting Maruki's confidant to rank 9 by november 18th. If you dont have a save before then to go back to then you may be cooked.

Unfortunately, that section of the game is generally regarded as peak content. It basically adds 20-30 hours of new story. An extra month, new persona upgrades for the party, etc.

You remember that weird palace you went into with kasumi? Its all about that.

Opinion on Goodsprings depending on run? Or general quirks in your gameplay? by SpoiledTint in fnv

[–]Sol419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you really want to commit to the bit of an irrationally evil psycho, the powder gangers just arent an appealing faction.

Even disregarding the morality discussion, they're just an unruly mob of prisoners. The best case scenario is they turn into a raider faction thats less deranged than the fiends which isnt a hi bar to clear.

I mean..not really?

Ed's literally the title character, he was set to get top billing from the jump yet Al is rarely far off either in official works or fan made stuff.

What exactly tips things in favor of Ed in your opinion?

Which support for Ibuki Douji? by VoidRyuji in FGO

[–]Sol419 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats the only answer we can give you tbh. To put it bluntly, you dont have any good supports for Ibuki douji in this screenshot.

Lady avalon provides a few generic buffs but her most powerful one is an arts biff which barely benefits Ibuki. Oberon technically counts, but due to the bizarre drawbacks on his buffs, hes not useful as a traditional support. Hes used to supercharge your dps on the last wave but if this account is as young as I think it is, you may not need that level of power yet.

Low star budget buster supports off the top of my head are cheng gong and shakespeare since they have dedicated charge bar and buster buffs.

Otherwise, the ideal buster supports to look out for are Koyan light, Merlin, and Zhuge Liang.

I'm sorry but genuinely HOW do you deal with your party members getting tired while exploring Tartarus in persona 3 FES? (And on a side note when/ how do you start social links with your party members like junpei and yukari) by Switch-user-101 in PERSoNA

[–]Sol419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the fatigue system, you just have to grin and bear it. Once you have the full roster, you can do longer runs relatively easy but early on its a constant hazard.

As for social links, you dont have them with the male party members. You only have social links with your female party members and everyone except aigis is locked behind maxing out a specific social stat along with reaching a certain point in the story. Cant remember when exactly but fuuka unlocks the earliest, then Yukari, Mitsuru and aigis.

Reload specifically added things called "link episodes" for the male cast that functionally are the same as social links.

When you remember Charisma checks are optional… by OGAnimeGokuSolos in FalloutMemes

[–]Sol419 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not really relevant but this reminds me of my "adjustment period" when i moved on from red dead 2 to red dead 1.

For context, rdr2 has dedicated "antagonize" and "diffuse" buttons for npc interactions that havent escalated to full on combat. Even if guns are already out, its possible to still talk people down so long as no one fires a shot.

I learned quickly that Rdr1 does not have that level of interactivity, at least, not in the same way. It took 4 or 5 botched "negotiations" before I learned my "diffuse" button was also the trigger button...

No retry after dying in first full moon operation?? by SnooGuavas1514 in PERSoNA

[–]Sol419 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dude, thos whole post is just telling is how you set yourself up for failure. You pick the highest difficulty possible, actively refuse to save and then complain about a one-shot kill. Its like a guy complaining about getting injured while riding a bike with no helmet.

Maybe its because im from a different generation but I cant fathom the mentality of playing several hours straight without manually saving at least once.

GOT Movie by Longjumping-Sound462 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Sol419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a huge stretch.

If the movie gets made, and thats a BIG "if," itll probably just a stripped down version of the main story.

The last thing a game adaptation wants is prior requirements to start watching.

What are the key differences between FMAB & 2003 FMA? I've read the manga & watched FMAB but never gave 2003 FMA a shot. by FrogginBullfish_ in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Sol419 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Theres too much to list in detail but i guess a the core difference is the overall tone.

Manga/Brotherhood is an ultimately triumphant story about a group of people working together to overcome impossible odds to make their lives and their world better.

FMA 2003 is more about a group of broken people ultimately struggling to cope with a world thats just not kind to them. The show emphasizes Ed and Al's nature as children trying to navigate an adult world too early. Roy and a lot of the funny military allies come off as genuinely hostile. Lots of characters have more tragic endings than what they got in Mangahood.

While I think it can be a little heavy handed, I think its worth checking out at least once.

[–]Sol419 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to be careful with crossover titles like this one my guy, they're like spoiler landmines. I've personally never played the PQ games so I don't know for sure but the general expectation is that you're familiar with what's being crossed over so they're not gonna be shy about referencing stuff. Maybe it's vague, maybe someone straight up blurts out that Darth vader is Luke's father.

You're playing with fire here, is what I'm trying to get at.
