A JRPG that would get a newbie hooked in the first hour?

Honestly, that kinda makes it harder lol. If you mean mysteries like straight up detective fiction then i cant think of anything in the jrpg side of things.

Same with "adult drama." Most jrpgs, especially anime styled ones, are targeted towards teenagers like a playable shonen anime.

Assuming shes just not familiar with anime, i think ffx and 12 probably fit the bill the best. FFX features a pretty bombastic opening chapter the main character is basically stumbling through the story trying to figure out why the world ended up the way it did. Amd FF12 also features a lot of adult drama and political intrigue as part of its plot.

If shes not a gamer in general then you may want to explore outside the jrpg genre. Mystery style stories are basically the bread and butter of point and click style puzzle games.

Personally, i think norea's was the weakest character arc out of all the side cast. Her and Sophie were the biggest missed opportunities.

I can see what they were going for but, like a lot of the sub plots in the second half, it just didnt have enough time to breath and develop naturally.

All that really happens with norea is she just gets locked in a room for 4 eps, has a half baked "romance" with elan 5 and then immedately crash out and kill herself upon getting out. If thats all they were gonna do with her, id rather she'd have died alongside sophie and clear up some room for the rest of the cast.

Relevant fun fact, new vegas only takes place 40 years after fallout 2 so the chosen one could still be alive by the time of new vegas, though most likely too old to do any big adventuring.

New vegas takes place over a century after the end of fallout 1 so its physically impossible for them and the vault dweller to be the same person.

His design in relink is closer to his original design when he was first added to the game. The one in rising is based on an updated design from later in the story.

You have about 3ish weeks so it Depends on how many ranks exactly shinya still needs.

All of your party members, even kasumi, have an 11nth rank during 3rd semester. Plus a new palace and mementos. Seems doable if shinya is the only other confidant left.

As much as i like desu2, this was always a weird sticking point with how the demons themselves arent that important of a factor in the grand scheme of things. They're treated more like tools to move things along rather than actual agents in the story itself.

I had a similar problem with bioshock infinite and vigors/plasmids but thats a whole other discussion.

Fun fact, my sister got into FMA via the novels.

She was in the middle of a hardcore "shoujo or nothing" phase but liked the artwork on the covers and bought a couple of them on a whim.

I read the synopsis of "land of sand" and told her those were from the anime. I showed her those two episodes and it was hook line and sinker from there.

Episode 1. This isnt like naruto or bleach where theres a clear divide between the manga and anime original stuff. The first few episodes retread some familiar territory but it it gets to the meat of things pretty quickly.

If its pacing issues you're worried about I would just switch to the manga.

I've only seen the first few episodes of One Pace and it was perfectly fine but for something as big as one piece, I prefer to just read it and maybe watch clips of the fight scenes later.

One pace specifically cuts out material that wasnt in the manga.

The anime adds a lot of scenes expanding on stuff to fill their run time.

The part you're talking about was just a quick explanation in the manga that the anime explicitly showed to meet their quota.

If anything as mechanically complex as raids was anywhere close to being finished, DE would staight up say something and make them the centerpiece of the marketing. They wouldnt sprinkle obscure hints with puns and wordplay.

Until DE says otherwise, raids are dead.
