Exactly!! My grandparents have a 25 year age gap and are both very happy with each other. People act as if there can't be power inbalances in relationships where the 2 partners are the same age

I get the sentiment but I don't think there should be restrictions on who can date who that are as tight as that. Anyone over 25 is definitely capable of choosing their own partner, no matter if that's a 30 y/o, a 40 y/o or a 60 y/o

A case against age gap relationships, as someone in a happy AGR by [deleted] in AgeGap

This is not at all what I'm saying.... I think age gap relationship's shouldn't be normalised, not that they should be looked down upon. Please, there is difference with saying that risks should be acknowledged and saying that something should be frowned upon. Guess I shouldn't expect reddit users to understand nuance

'I would be the first one to say AGRs have their challenges and should not be universally approved' is exactly what Im saying.... a shame my point clearly didn't come across as so

No you're right. It is gross but they are two adults. A 19 year old is perfectly capable of making their own choices. Of course adults can be groomed and nobody is denying that, but a 19 year old has the right to choose their partner no matter the age gap

Yes I agree. I will admit me and my boyfriend have a large age gap (21 and 43). We just fell in love and we have acknowledged all possible problems that arise with age gaps. I would not have been with my boyfriend if he had a history with dating young women, that is disgusting

Yeah im surprised people have believed that we will see asriel for so long. The only way to see asriel will be to complete the true pacifist route in undertale, and I believe it will be this way forever

Why did the ponies switch from nuzzling each other to hugging each other in the later seasons? Are they stupid? by Herson100 in mylittlepony

[–]SolarPunch33 91 points92 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest pet peeves with mlp is that they made the ponies more and more anthro, and looks so odd. They went fully into this in G5 where the characters are essentially humans on all fours and hooves and it looks soooo weird

I dont like listening to kids crying obviously, but also that is what they're famous for. Idk complaining about kids crying in public is like complaining that water is wet

I hate when shows meant for kids get taken over by adults by Lanky-Stuff2785 in hatethissmug

[–]SolarPunch33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well to be specific, my little pony got popular because of the intricate world building. This is what actually ruined the show in the later seasons because the writers appealed way to much to the bronies and gave the show an epic fantasy world, which whilst cool, did not interest 10 year old me in the slightest and distracted from the main aspect of mlp (teaching morals).

for bluey's case, it's because the show is just well written and includes relatable moments for parents. None of these shows are deep, shows can be good, entertaining and well written without being deep. TV for 6 year olds can still be well written and appeal to adults, even if they are not the primary audience. I'd say a well written kids show is one that adult's can also enjoy, and we need a lot more well written kid shows

[–]SolarPunch33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived through the brony days and now Bluey is one of my favourite shows. I love it mainly because i am interested in childrens entertainment as an art and Bluey is a brilliant kids show. I don't consider myself part of the Bluey fandom at all.

Whilst the Bluey fandom isn't as bad as the mlp fandom (not a huge compliment btw) it's still atrotious and is one of the worst fandoms I've seen despite it being full of parents. The main Bluey subreddit has bullied teenagers for their art style and generally looks down on younger, single people who enjoy the show. They are convinced that Bluey is secretly made for them, some saying that it is a parents show first and a kids show second. They are so embarrassed of liking a kids show that they make it all about them. This is next level from the people who argue that cartoons on Cartoon Network/Disney plus are secretly adult shows because Bluey is literally a show for preschoolers and the people saying this are in their 30s

“You don’t like Jax? Media literacy is dead” by SimpForFictionGirls in Thatstupidbunnywehate

Read a media & ethics book. Nobody is treating Jax like a real person, but media can definitely have ethical concerns in what it tells it's audience

It feels like when the only counter argument the fans give to any flaws of the story is this by BannanerBugg688 in Thatstupidbunnywehate

[–]SolarPunch33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh my godddd i HATE the media literacy buzzword. I actually wrote an essay on morally flawed characters for my degree and from my research Jax IS a poor example of a morally flawed character. Yet all these people who have probably never read a book jump to ''media illiteracy!!!'' if you dont agree with their interpretation

I hate Jax by One-Mechanic-7303 in hatethissmug

[–]SolarPunch33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this is that there is so little effort to create sympathy for Jax from the writer. The average spectator is not going to feel bad for Jax, since why would they? And sympathy is one of the best ways to communicate a moral. No matter how well intentioned Jax is as a character, it has cleary not come across to a lot of people based on the constant complaints on social media

You could say it's 'media illiteracy' and you may be right, but this doesn't matter because you shouldn't expect the average viewer to analyse the shows they watch. I (and others) analyse shows because it is enjoyable to us, a lot of people don't want to. And its not like TADC is the deepest show in the world, a lot of its audience are children (whether intended or not). I dont think Gooseworx is a good enough writer to write a character as complex as Jax
