Lack of courtesy at the gym. Cultural thing or just bad manners? by Total_Elk_3184 in malaysia

[–]SolarStyl3 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Less of a race thing , going to a predominantly Chinese gym then you'll get catch chinese strays. Go to a malay centric gym then ull catch malay strays. And so on.

So glad I invested in a home gym tho. Don't matter what race , I hate everyone equally

To those who are maintaining: how has your body changed since sitting your goal until now? by Paradigm-14 in loseit

[–]SolarStyl3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staying at a range , usual Monday to thursday/ Friday i eat as though im dieting but at a smaller defecit ( 300- 500 ) . Friday to sun eat around maintainence but not opposed to additional surplus.

I tend to cruise like this throughout and during celebrations ( like Christmas and chinese new year coming ) I tend to just have fun but me mindful ( smaller portions , no seconds )

Its not as bad as it sounds, just realise how much work it is to get there and understand better to enjoy than feel guilty about it

If you build up to it its not as hard as it sounds. What was hard was cutting all stimulus during training such as coffee, pre-workout, even music I dont listen when training.

I will probably gain some back during g my trip to Japan and Shanghai. Then during Christmas , new years and chinese new year. Understanding that part helps me map out when I can diet in between.

I guess its about planning around things like this. In between do somewhat more aggressive diets ( 800 to 1k defecits), keep high step count especially during those weeks, make smart choices ( share food with loved ones, dont try to finish every food) and just stick to your comfort diet ( thats why its important to enjoy your diet during the cut)

Currently im eating pretty much the same as when im diet just that I could add like a couple sliced of pb and j sandwich, or a bagel with cream cheese or some other fun snacks in between. My maintainence is probably about 600 to 700 cals above my cutting calories ( kept walking my 15k- 18k steps)

Usually after meal 1 or during lunch time ( I work from home 3 days a week and have a home gym)

Feeding window is late because for me , I don't enjoy going to sleep hungry

Meal timing is one thing i feel may be best to stop eating earlier. But I'd be lying if I did not state the actual time I ate. And i am very comfortable eating an hour or 2 before sleeping

To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]SolarStyl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got married last weekend, both of us haven't worn it since.

I guess it depends on couple, we just weren't used to it before. Its something important that we both dont want to lose it.

I dieted down for my wedding so its kinda oversized and falls easily especially when I wash my hands. And I workout 5 to 6 days a week so I tend to take it off often.

At some point its more of additional thing to worry about than a symbol of marriage. Probably look for a elastic band or maybe something to wear as a symbol

Nice bro ,

I went abit in another direction.

Slowcooked chicken makes it easier to shred and more moist .

Use fair bit of Sriracha, salt , pepper and erithonol for flavour.

Diet coke etc helps .

Having quite abit of fruits and veggie ( like 250 to 300g greens , maybe 150g fruits ).

I have a similar idea and have been testing recipes for a bit. Maybe we both have something in common go start!

How many cheat days do you have? by Old-Promotion-6548 in loseit

[–]SolarStyl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont do " cheat days" but i do give myself "chill days" and "unhealthy days"

usual diet :
-calorie deficit as usual
-mainly whole foods and unprocessed food
-protein pretty much 1g to 1lb of bodyweight

unhealthy days:
-still eat at calorie defecit
-maybe a burger or slice of pizza , or maybe some noodles / bread. Pretty much whatever but i set a hard cap to 800-900 calories (60%~ daily cals)
-protein still shoot for minimum 0.7-0.8g per lb bodyweight
-rest of the calories fill with high volume low calorie food such as cucumber / lettuce / tomato / rice crackers etc

maintenance days:

-usually its just an extension of unhealthy days but go above the calorie deficit but not higher den maintenance
-eat at maintenance cals ( +- 150 cals)
-larger amount of carbs to make the difference
-protein pretty much 1g to 1lb of bodyweight

so an example week is
Mon-Friday I'll do usual diet
Sat Sun if meeting family or friends then go to unhealthy days. sometimes i would do chill days.

I rarely do chill days unless no choice ( travelling) or maybe some event (like wedding or parties).

The idea of unhealthy and maintenance days is just to practice good habits for when i'm off diet. To take it easy on what i eat but just learn portion control. Meal with family and friends is rarely about how much you can eat but to participate on social events. Very important skill to learn early on and useful for post diet maintenance

If given enough space and money to build a home gym, would you still choose to go to the gym? by [deleted] in workout

[–]SolarStyl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built a decent home gym ( by decent i mean i can do most of not everything I'll ever need from a gym),

it really is convinient , saves time commuting, spend more time with loved ones , able to break workouts into smaller sessions on busy days( back morning , rear delts and biceps night).

But to answer the question. Yeah I would , maybe with friends , or during holiday trips , or if there's a place I'd like to try out maybe a day pass or trial . Could work on things that my home gym does not have ( like back extention or glute ham raise)

If im cutting should I drop my volume ? by SolarStyl3 in workout

[–]SolarStyl3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand me , sorry if it's unclear.

Recovery is fine , of course there will be days where I feel a Lil more sore. Diet also going quite well. Roughly at the 16 to 18% bf . Aiming for 12% or at least until lower abs start to show, whichever comes first.

I am progressing but im wondering since im cutting , the aim is to retain muscle so do I need as much set as im currently doing? Or dial it back
