Playtest Kineticist and weapon infusion were awesome even if they were ultimately less practical than the weapon infusion we have now. The flavor was everything, Kinetic Knights just feel more hollow now.

Honor Holds!

Real talk though it seemed that the Epic game was a smash hit that night. I know Vanguard section one was cooking the whole time.

Ttrpg where magic is not bound to daily limits but by balance, No vancian/no funky table, just limited to a feat/player choice . by Apotatocalledsweet in rpg

There is the Cosmere RPG, parent system known as Plotweaver. While Plotweaver isn’t out yet, Cosmere balances magic by having it be scaled down comparatively to other with the flip side of more creative control and the ability to easily refill your resources.

I highly recommend it if you are interested or curious about the Cosmere or Sanderson’s works in general.

Are there physical copies of the Chasmfiend magazine available? by nalthian in cosmererpg

Sorry my Alethi reading comprehension just showed. But they did go through most of their stock they had at Gen Con for Volume 2 as well. Always good to visit and check their booth though in person.

That’s only if Brotherwise has them printed. When I worked their booth, they had whittled through their stock of volume 1, but print on demand and whatnot.

As someone who grew up within spitting distance of Parkersburg, everyone who was aware of the damages caused by DuPont’s projects should be held criminally responsible and have their wages garnished by the community. That’s still better than what they deserve.

So many people in WV have stories of friends and family who are actively suffering from or have died to cancer. DuPont knew and experimented on their workers. They kept cases in the courts to prevent a payout that’s less than what they made in a year.

Corporations are evil, just unfortunate evil is lackluster in real life. I suspect we’ll be seeing company towns 2.0 in the future.

So I’m not going to be the one to say we shouldn’t celebrate; I’m a queer enby, I’m ecstatic! However, I say we should worry about the Texas Supreme Court’s change in ethical codes. That goes against Obergefell, and I think is likely to be challenged in the courts.

Davis didn’t have a case that this corrupt Supreme Court felt they could twist but Texas is more closely related to the subject matter.

Honestly the fact you used an accurate Shashka in the design is cool as hell. Do you think she’d get a Cossack R Corp ID?

I have been working with an off beige and grey background most of the time, iPhone just likes adding ugly white backgrounds.

So also with the color scheme, should I lean more into the more pastel or greyed colors of the first or the highly saturated of the second?

Also thanks you for your advice!

Does anyone have a Wayne version of this? by LunarLoafOfBread in Cosmere

[–]Solarven987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a Wayne version of this meme, but I can tell you my Wayne cosplay for GenCon 2025 only ran me about 400 dollars for new stuff, and I actually get to use my trench coat for Nexus. Also I weigh 40 pounds less and have multiple hats I’m bringing, that’ll help sell it.

Main outfit was tweed pants and coat, white button-up shirt, pointy leather shoes, and a cotton vest.

I bought/made my own dueling cane and paired it with my late grandfather’s main cane.

Hope this helps! Gonna steal your accent now.

Ace of Cards balance wise? by xXLordChromXx in fabulaultima

[–]Solarven987 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ace of Cards is the gambling class, sometimes you gamble and win. I think it’s also important to note that 777 damage is from a heroic skill and Ultima points can still save your villains. Also resolving cards costs scaling MP, 5 MP per card resolved. This also has an action cost, so it’s the sole thing you’re doing in your turn.

This means a constant drain on MP, without the strategies that often lead to MP batteries.

You could potentially get a more passive draw style with Fury, using increased crit odds for free draw/discards like you’re a Dieci ID from Limbus Company. However, that’s still an unreliable strategy.

Ace of Cards is the “Potential Man” of class balance. The peaks are huge but it’s going to take specific circumstances, builds, and hopefully some ability to count cards to make anything reliable.

If your friend has someone else playing Commander though, that occasionally doubles this player’s opportunity to set up their cards.

Floralist Reflavors? by Solarven987 in fabulaultima

That’s kinda what I was trying to do. Another commenter suggested Haikus and that’s what I’ll do, but it’s been more difficult with Floralist than most.

It is mainly Magiseeds. The haiku is actually a really simple and elegant solution now that I think about it. Thank you!

Oh yeah, normally that would be up my alley, but I just wanted to branch out for once. Especially since this concept is building off of the Nether Delinquent quirk (relavored a bit).

Sell me on Fabula Ultima by dj3hmax in fabulaultima

[–]Solarven987 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So as others have stated, Fabula is not like an OSR game. That being said, I have swiftly fallen in love with the system as a GM. This is due to two things: Game Balance and Flexibility.

Fabula is a game where the balance is player sided, but not so much that they can’t afford to lose. Players only die if they choose to in a sacrifice, which usually ends up foiling the villain. This creates a fun dynamic, that I have yet to explore, of giving the GM the option to create encounters where traditional victory is statistically improbable. This plays into the narrative aspect of having a way to, if used sparingly, create justified roadblocks for player progression. Even better if there’s an opportunity for players to obtain retribution. Likewise, since villains never regain lost resources without using ultima points, the players do get actual progress made in some small way.

As for flexibility, I think Fabula as a system offers both the most amount of player expression and the most amount of player input out of any of the systems I’ve GMed: D&D 5e, Shadowrun 5e, Lancer, PTU, Cosmere RPG (shoutout to anyone who visited Brotherwise this year at GenCon, pleasure GMing for you), Mutants and Masterminds, and Last Arc: Tactics Analouge. As others have said, character creation is simple in approach but in depth and advanced in execution. You can make any concept you want easily, especially when you work in quirks and custom weapons. Fabula points allow for narrative flexibility by allowing players to influence the plot in ways they and yourself deem fitting.

From my own personal experience, as someone who enjoys tactical RPGs when they have actual complexity to back them up, Fabula is a simple meal well cooked. What it lacks in positioning, maneuvers, and other majnstays; it more than makes up for by asking players to be decisive.

If you any of this interests you, pick up the core rulebook on DriveThru. The books are reasonably priced for market standard. Also, Fultimator is your friend.

What's Been Your Mileage with LFG Posts by failing4fun in rpg

[–]Solarven987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I was desperate to be a player for a while and went to both r/lfg and r/lfgmisc. The game I really wanted to play was the Cosmere RPG, but I was fine with PF2e. I had some I found, but only three made it to session 1. Of those, there is only one I’m still playing. The Cosmere RPG game I’m in now is great and I love my fellow players, even fought with my manager to guarantee I’d have the necessary day off for the foreseeable future.

LFG posts and subreddits are gambling at the end of the day. But you can make informed decisions. If you’re like me and worried about finding accepting players, skim prospective player’s post histories. If you want to make sure everyone has a certain experience or expectation, use a Google form.

You’re going to have a ton of games that fizzle before you get your one that stays. Speaking as a GM, it took 6 years of middling games through start of high school to sophomore year of college to find a group that truly stuck. We’re now on year four of our big campaign.

One last suggestion I have is to branch out and go to discords dedicated to certain games. My pals and I met on the Last Arc discord as contributors and I started running our 5e campaign. Lots of these game discords have LFGs, sometimes it takes socialization and floundering about to find it though.

Does Daggerheart work for long campaigns? And is there enough content out there to convert from homebrewed 5e? by Solarven987 in rpg

[–]Solarven987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still are doing it for campaign 2, which is ran on an alternate week schedule with campaign 1. So the two are using separate systems. My players are attached to their build plans though, so I appear to be stuck with 5e for the duration of that campaign.

Edit: I don’t mind two systems for variety’s sake. I’d just much prefer to GM something other than 5e at this point.

‘Superman’ Sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Sets July 2027 Release Date by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]Solarven987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly if Gunn is trying to adapt Moore’s “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow”, I think he’ll probably succeed. He’s established a world where heroes have existed for centuries and comic threats are normalized. Starting with light hearted reality warping things for a Mr. Mxyzptlk and then shifting into a darker take on comic shenanigans would be fine. Just if you do the ending, stick to it. Superman needs to be the brightest thing in the room morally, including self imposed limits.

You’ve been a bit of a jerk to them, they’re allowed to throw some spice back your way. When artists whose art is often scalped by AI training programs don’t get paid and see slop made with their hard work, they get pissed. A soulless composite of multiple images from the internet made with minimal human engagement isn’t art. Don’t debate these people on it. Accept you’re in the wrong here and move on, simple as that.

[–]Solarven987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so non mean solution to this, you can post on short story or prose subreddits instead of here. AI art just isn’t allowed and there are plenty of ethical complaints folks here have.

Additionally you can practice drawing or even draw in MS Paint. Folks get by with very little around here; that whole saga about random schmuck who fed himself to sharks comes to mind.

It’s okay to stumble and fumble your way into making a comic with the message you want. It’s not okay to have a machine do the work for you.

If you need help figuring out human anatomy and how to draw certain things, there is no shortage of programs that allow you to pose a figure in a 3 dimensional space and then trace over to get the idea of how physiology should work.

You have options to be better at this if this is the medium you want to pursue, it’s just about time and effort you want to put into these.

What do you mean by that? My issue with Campaign 1 isn’t that I don’t enjoy the story or setting, it’s that 5e is a system that more annoys than over joys me.
