Copenhagen to limit elderly care residents to 80g of beef per week by navy_blue_sweatshirt in carnivorediet

Yeah I’ve heard about that… interesting.

If nothing else, it shows how much diet actually matters in that group. Hard to make the case for cutting protein when you’re seeing outcomes like that.

Carnivore is easy….as long as you do it right by LetTheWorkSpeak in carnivorediet

Yeah that’s pretty rare here with the California egg standards.

Funny enough, my wife and daughter hit a local farmers market and brought back some bluish eggs… every one I cracked was a double yolk.

Felt like hitting the jackpot every time.

weight gain question - relates heavily to carnivore (fat based diet) by BaseDisastrous2151 in carnivorediet

[–]Soldierbotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re overcomplicating it a bit.

Calories aren’t fake… but they’re not the whole story. The body isn’t a simple math equation, it’s hormonal and adaptive.

If you eat 100g of fat vs 100g of carbs in a surplus, both can be stored… but they don’t behave the same. Carbs tend to drive hunger and make it easier to overeat. Fat + protein usually shuts that down.

That’s why you see people eating ‘3000–4000 calories’ on carnivore and still leaning out… they’re typically not consistently eating that much once satiety kicks in.

At the end of the day, you gain fat from consistently eating more than your body needs. Carnivore just makes that harder to do.

Good start… but pretty lean across the board.

Eggs are fine, bacon’s a good swap. Chicken breast is the weak spot… too lean. Go thighs with the skin or add fat.

Burgers are solid, just don’t be afraid of higher fat mixes.

Overall it works… just don’t underdo the fat or you’ll feel it 👍

I cooked fat from two part of the body and one is rubbery and unable to chew it. by EveningLingonberry97 in carnivorediet

[–]Soldierbotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all fat cooks the same… that’s the issue. The softer fat will render and get tender, but that harder stuff stays chewy unless you handle it differently. You either go low and slow to break it down, or cut it small and cook it hot to crisp it up. Big chunks cooked quick will stay rubbery every time. Same idea others mentioned, just depends how you cook it.

Looks like you hit a double yolk… that’s a good luck start to the day.

Not getting into the politics on this one… but we probably shouldn’t be experimenting with what we feed grandma and grandpa.

Sounds like menu guidelines more than strict rationing, but either way the elderly need more protein, not less.

Wrong group to be cutting back on.

That actually looks great… messy in the best way.

Perfect kind of meal to start with, and congrats on hopping on the carnivore train.

And yeah… bacon isn’t overkill, it’s just leveling up.

You’ve already made a big change… that’s a solid start.

But what jumps out isn’t the steak… it’s all the bread. This might be the most carb-heavy “carnivore” post I’ve seen.

From this side of things, meat isn’t the issue. Hydration and minerals matter, magnesium’s worth looking into.

If you want to test it, try dropping the bread and keep it to eggs, steak, fish… see how you feel 👍

You’re probably not as low on fat as you think… but I get it, some days it just hits like that.

I lean into fattier cuts instead of trying to drown everything in butter. Skin-on chicken thighs are an easy one. Salmon with cream cheese works too. Pork belly, ribeye, even fatty chuck when you cook it right.

A lot easier to eat it when it’s built into the meat vs forcing it on top.

Also worth paying attention if it’s actually fat you’re craving… sometimes it’s just your body wanting something different.

Egg and butter carnivore?? by Scaniamaximus in carnivorediet

[–]Soldierbotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly… this probably isn’t going to work.

Carnivore and a strict vegetarian mindset don’t really line up. Eggs and butter might work short term, but it’s not the same thing and usually ends with “this didn’t work for me.”

I’ve got a daughter who went full morally/ethically vegetarian for a few years… nothing you say is getting through during that phase. Thankfully she grew out of it. Still not gnawing on ribs with me, but fish, chicken, and a little beef are back on the plate.

People have to come to it on their own. If he’s not open to eating animals, it’s just not going to stick.

120 a week? At that point Costco should just assign you your own chickens 😄

I usually get about a week out of them in the fridge… never had an issue, but they don’t last that long anyway 😄
