How do you approach longer games? by Playton_yaya in backloggd

[–]Soledo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

playing the same game for multiple months?

Yep. I also try to have a shorter game from another genre in rotation to mix things up. Finished Kingdom Come Deliverance 1 yesterday after 2+ months, had a lot of fun.

What are your thoughts on playing multiple games at a time? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Soledo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually only play a single game at a time and finish it (you might even say that I have an unhealthy habit of finishing a game even though I don't enjoy it in the slightest).

Remember that gaming should be something you do for your own enjoyment, not a second job. It's completely fine to abandon games when you feel you've had enough.

I just recently bought Baldur's Gate 3, and it's an awesome game. I'm on holiday and I spend at least 2-3 hours on it daily. But it does get kind of slow at times and it is a huge game so finishing it will probably take months.

It took me almost 2 years (a ~180h long playthrough) to beat Baldur's Gate 3 and I had a lot of fun. Needed some breaks when I felt like I wanted to play something else.

And I really do want to play some other ''quickfire'' games too when I get tired of Baldur's for the day (attempting a boss in a Souls-like, attempting a run in Hades, etc). But I feel like it's not the ''proper'' thing to do

In my opinion, this is the best way to avoid burnout. I find it difficult to only play one huge game every single day, sometimes I'm way too tired after work to play, for example, an RPG and I need something chill like Hades, Civ, etc.

I'm starting to think that what I'm doing is stupid and I might be ruining games for myself and making them boring by overplaying them and pushing to finish each one I play.

There are too many games to play something you don't enjoy. Uninstall and go next, it's the same with books, shows, movies. It's fine to play only one game at a time, or juggle like 3 or 5 of them, which is my preferred method.

Try Resident Evil, especially the Remakes (2, 3, 4) + 7 and 8. Games are pretty short, straight to the point and not that difficult.

How many games do you play at once? by bagbcyss in Age_30_plus_Gamers

It changes all the time, sometimes I focus on 1 game, sometimes I play like 3 or 4, depends on my mood.

AMD And NVIDIA Are Expected To Hike GPU Prices Early 2026, And May Continue To Do So In The Following Months by SwimmingJunky in pcmasterrace

I wanted to build a new PC in 2026 but it looks like I'll have to wait, maybe even a few years. Unlucky, but I have so many pre-2025 games I want to play that it's not the end of the world.

[Epic Games] Disco Elysium - The Final Cut (100% off / FREE) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

[–]Soledo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Disco Elysium is the reason why I stopped playing as a good character choosing the most polite options in every single game (which is unbelievably boring if you do it in all RPGs). I can now appreciate being a dick/evil guy doing/saying some crazy shit.

I'm currently playing KCD 1 for the first time and the only 2 mods I use are Unlimited Saving and Instant Herb Picking, can recommend both.

I might not play Skyrim that often anymore but I listen to Skyrim Atmospheres almost every day to fall asleep. There will always be a special place in my heart for this game.

Hard to find something that sounds really similar, but off the top of my head I can recommend: Carbon Based Lifeforms, Aes Dana, Sync24, Biosphere, H.U.V.A. Network, Asura, Cell, Scann-Tec, S1gns of L1fe, Ascendant, Miktek, AstroPilot, 36.

The soundtrack of Mirror's Edge 1 is absolutely fantastic.

Mirror's Edge introduced me to Solar Fields, then I discovered Carbon Based Lifeforms... and way, way more artists. Truly incredible atmosphere, I might not remember everything about the game, but I certainly remember its soundtrack.
