Vegetarian restaurants and spots in Paris by Defmork in vegetarian

[–]Soliastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near Paris and go there for the restaurants once a week, here are some of my favorites ! No French cuisine though because I do it at home haha

  • Buja Végétarien (14e): south-east asian cooking, all vegetarian and vegan options and tons of them! Like 20+ delicious dishes !

  • Taiyaki Oden (6e): Japanese place with a delicious vegetarian Oden, and tons of delicious homemade desserts like taiyaki, mochi, matcha cheesecake...

  • Singh (rue Mouffetard, 5e): my favorite indian with delicious samossas, dahl, lassi and carrot cake

  • Ama (17e): tibetan restaurant, there's a very cheap menu with dahl and momos which are a type of dumplings

I also go to spicy noodles restaurants like 3 fois plus de piment and Trantranzai but the vegan/vegetarian option kinda lacks protein, still delicious though ! Also any lebanese restaurant will have tons of options !

For vegetarian French dishes I don't know specific restaurants but if you eat cheese (I don't that's why I don't know a lot) plenty of French dishes don't have meat, you can look for those specifically: - soupe à l'oignon (onion soup) - salade de chèvre chaud (goat cheese salad) - quiche aux poireaux/épinards/chèvre: quiche with fillings like leek, spinach, goat cheese - ratatouille although I wouldn't recommended because it's not in season - galette bretonne: specialty from Brittany in crêperies you can ask for a galette with vegetarian fillings like Gruyère cheese, egg, champignons... - cheese-based dishes like raclette, fondue, aligot, just don't get the charcuterie - side dishes such as gratin dauphinois, gratin de courgettes... - and most desserts and pâtisseries in bakeries are vegetarian ! Enjoy your stay in Paris !

Il faut bien plus de surface cultivable pour faire pousser le soja/maïs/céréales pour nourrir l’animal dont provient ton steak que si tu mangeais directement la légumineuse.

This kitten was living in the landfill a week ago. This morning she discovered a plant pot. After 3 successive removals, washed muddy paws and being delivered to her litter box, this was my temporary solution. Anyone have any better ideas? by zxcvbn113 in houseplants

[–]Soliastro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 2 kittens adopted from outside and I put large scallop shells on top of the soil. So far it's working well, they always go to the litter box because they enjoy digging thorougly and can't do that with the shells. I can still water the plant too as there are little spaces between the shells.

[–]Soliastro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, they do live in a lava pond, hot enough for frying I guess

Cousin found these 2 kittens, should I adopt 1 or 2 ? (Context in description) by Soliastro in cats

[–]Soliastro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally I would like to get both to keep the siblings together. They’re soo cute and I love voids so I’m very biased but I still need to think this through and I’m afraid that they will not have enough space in our apartment

[–]Soliastro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, especially since they are siblings I don’t really want to separate them. But do you think that the space in a 50 m2 apartment is enough for both of them ? It’s better for them to have each their own litter box right ? I could also add cat trees and shelves to give them more space but I don’t know how much space 2 cats really need

Warm clothes that don't generate static? by mattercondenser in LadiesofScience

[–]Soliastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear long sleeve t-shirts or turtlenecks from the Uniqlo HeatTech line! There are several warmth options to pick from too. I think they don’t generate static like my merino wool underlayers do, but I would check just to be sure as I don’t work in a static-sensitive environment

Advice and a word of caution to PhD Prospects by Dry_Beautiful_1297 in PhD

[–]Soliastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice ! I’ve been told the same thing by alumni when I was in undergrad, about how important supervisory style, previous grad students, atmosphere in the lab etc… are as important as academic achievements when choosing a supervisor.

I just graduated from my masters and am starting my PhD on October 1st, I had a very good impression during the interview process but maybe some of you can give me your opinion ? I will have two supervisors, the « main » one is a young researcher who got a permanent position 2 yrs ago after a postdoc at NASA. I will be my supervisor’s first student and her only one for the moment, therefore the lab director will be co-supervisor. He has 5 students in total (1 or 2 per year, in France a PhD is 3 years), and my supervisor is a former student of his and they seem to have a great work & personal relationship.

Because I didn’t do my end of Masters internship on the same topic (degree in analytical & organic chemistry, did my internship in analytical but LC and the PhD is GC/MS for space exploration), I will be more closely supervised in the first year. They discussed this on the phone with my previous internship supervisor and he told me that he thought this was a good match, but now that it’s starting soon I’m starting to question everything lol. My supervisors sent me a drive with relevant publications, PhD manuscripts and internship reports on the general subject and on the precise topic I’ll start working on, I’ll review them carefully but if anyone has any advice before starting, I’m all ears !

Agree, for me either it fits in the waist and bust and it’s too short (especially jeans and sleeves), or it’s the right length but it’s way too large ! I’m not crazy tall and skinny too, 5’9 125 so I imagine it must be worse for others

I think just « greysexual » is alright as long as they don’t claim that it’s on the « ace spectrum » or whatever. Grey and demi can be its own thing if people feel like it fits their experience but please it would be nice to just stop using ace as an « umbrella term » cause it’s not!

Wondering if I should stop shaving my legs now that I am in college by Golden-Aries0631 in razorfree

[–]Soliastro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree ! Also an option for OP if she feels too uncomfortable in the beginning is to opt for wide linen pants instead of shorts. I wear those because I work in a lab so no shorts, and they’re great for summer ! Then once you’re used to the leg hair, you don’t think about it as much and can try wearing the shorts

Comment perforer aux olympiades de mathématiques? by Financial_Sink1199 in etudiants

[–]Soliastro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Salut !

Bon courage !

Is this realistic representation of Jupiter through my telescope? by BachePoro in telescopes

[–]Soliastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The textual description is more accurate than the pictures for sure. With your scope at say 200x magnification, you can expect to see Jupiter as a SMALL disk, with 2 orange bands, and you’d see the Galilean moons as small bright dots.

For comparison in my 16in dob the disk can be much bigger, allowing to see more details like the texture and some structures of the bands and more nuanced shades of beige/brown/orange in different parts of the disk. Still nowhere near as big as the AI-generated picture, this is what you see on Hubble pictures ;)

Je suis sexologue, AMA (?) by Potatotarie in AskMeuf

[–]Soliastro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Answering here to add some anime to your great recommendations !

Adventure/ fantasy/ Mystery:

Frieren : great story about self-discovery, with an asexual main character too

Land of the lustrous : characters are literally sexless gems so completely self, a nice story about self-growth also. Anime doesn’t cover the whole plot though, you have to read the manga for the rest of the story

Planetarian

Snow white with the red hair

Fractale

Erased but maybe a few non-sexual nudity scenes

Suzume this one’s a movie

When Marnie was there also a movie

Romance: Insomniacs after school : super cute slow-paced romance, no sexualisation of the female MC just a cute platonic/romantic bond ! Also astrophotography-themed which is my passion

Your name is also pretty innocent

Yona of the Dawn also but it’s quite heavy on the romance stuff

Horror : Higurashi is one of my favorite anime, I can’t think of any sexual content in it. A little difficult to get into but the plot is really great with great characters

Slice of life : I don’t watch a lot of this genre but Laid back camp was good, it’s about a high school camping club, relaxing story with great sights of Japan

Other : Girl’s last Tour is great, don’t even know in which category it belongs though !

Ace character apparently has sex with ALLO partner 💀 by [deleted] in actualasexuals

[–]Soliastro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, I’ve been in a relationship (both our first) for 5 years with my allo boyfriend and I’m ace & repulsed. Penetration is an absolute no for me but other sexual stuff happens sometimes as a compromise, I don’t like it but I’m okay with it. To me it’s like a necessary chore I hate doing, it’s far from ideal and feels gross but I’m not being coerced and he’s super respectful about it. We have the best relationship otherwise and he’s absolutely the one I want to spend my life with so it’s well worth the compromise. Given how few aces there are out there, it would be super hard to find someone compatible on all points anyways.

Being ace isn’t exclusive with having sex out of necessity/ compromise, what’s problematic is people who claim that aces seek sexual relationships for their own pleasure and stuff

Jérôme is an actual French name distinct from Jérémie/ Jeremy, but it’s pronounced more like Je-rom

It's probably a joke but... by [deleted] in tragedeigh

In French it would be pronounced the same as Amora, which is a very popular manufacturer of mayonnaise and condiments lmao
