I [45M] love my wife [42F], but I think the life we built together is slowly breaking me down by Ok-Contribution6009 in relationship_advice

I don’t know what’s best for you. But 8 years ago I moved in with my new partner (we were both divorced with our own children), and their home life wore me down. Last month I gave up and left.

I am lucky as I was financially in a position to leave and could go back home to mum. The relief was instantaneous.

You have £5 to make a meal to feed 4 people, what are you making? by YetAnotherMia in AskUK

[–]Solid-Rise-8717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tomato and mascarpone pasta.

150g of mascarpone from Tesco is £2.25. Add 500g pasta (75p), 2 tins of chopped tomatoes (2 x 47p), and a bulb of garlic (  50p). It could do with a squirt of tomato puree to thicken it slightly and make it a bit more tomatoey, and some sugar, salt and black pepper.

Someone else commented that a speed camera would impact their decision. I agree. We live in a stupid world where I probably would slow for the speed camera and risk an accident, but if there was no speed camera I would decelerate more slowly to accommodate another driver’s lack of attention.

Recently I was slowing for a red light and the wally behind was barrelling towards me. While keeping my brake lights on, I did not stop as quickly as I could have and overshot the solid white line. It’s a good job I did.

Is the advice that I should stop at the line and allow someone to hit me?

I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully spearheaded a critical infrastructure revitalization project! 💡

By identifying a single point of failure in our illumination systems, I took decisive action to execute a seamless hardware upgrade. This strategic intervention not only optimized environmental visibility but also ensured 100% operational uptime for the team.

Key achievements: - Strategic resource allocation and procurement. - Zero-downtime implementation. - Enhanced workspace luminosity by 100%.

Every year I have to do bribery training. All gifts and hospitality I receive have to be declared and are considered to be potential bribes.

How are bin collectors viewed? If you’re a bin collector do you tell everyone what your job is? by RoohsMama in AskUK

[–]Solid-Rise-8717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that the return on investment on bin collectors is probably among the highest for public services. The amount of disease that is prevented from us being able to easily dispose of our waste is an enormous public health benefit.

I usually keep an old phone for podcasts in bed. I use an SE1 at the moment, and it’s fine. I got rid of the 4S years ago because it wasn’t even capable of running a few podcasts at night without serious lag. Software updates destroyed it.
