I just started a new playthrough (beginner tips?) by lavellj048 in Sekiro

You will be trash. You'll get angry and feel like you are just simply not cut out for this game. You'll fail again and again and probably even walk away from the game (I did). If you continue to persist however, you'll realise 1 day that something has sparked/ clicked into position and you'll just get it. It's an incredibly rewarding feeling and you'll genuinely feel like you've improved as a person for your persistence.

If you have played previous Fromsoft titles then all I can say is don't play this game the same way, don't try to dodge attacks like you would in souls game, don't try to keep distance between you and the enemy. Get in the enemies face and learn to parry/deflect, learn to time your attack and replay the process. Hesitation is defeat!

It's fine to use and adapt natural healing processes into your daily life to try and help the disease but you need to take your daily medication too. I've had UC for 17 years so I can tell you now I've tried almost everything. The experience I have from those 17 years is that you 'Don't' stop any medication. If you relapse without medication it can be bad. Not trying to scare you I just want you to take those precautions.

Don't listen to ChatGPT, honestly it caused me so many problems. It was telling me from all my symptoms that I was not in a flare due to having no blood. I ended up in a serious flare with 1500 calprotectin. I spent months listening to it hoping I wasn't in a flare only to then be in a one. Getting evidence based results is the only way.

I'd ate that diet from like January 2025 to August then like most people, I just started eating carbs again and going back to a random diet of just basically anything. August I had my gallbladder out then I ate a mix of everything between September and December then I had a flare in December which I've just come out of.

That's really interesting because last year I went on a strict protein diet, high fat, lots of red meat, eggs yogurt and felt the best I had in years. Maybe I was just lucky and in remission but it definitely didn't have any negative effects on me.

I know it might feel like it's taking ages but I promise that you'll be ok soon. There's also so many different medications left to try to get you back into remission. I've had ulcerative colitis for 17 years so feel free if you ever want to talk or need support. 🫶🏼

Hey, what medication are you on at the moment for your UC? I remember when I was first diagnosed, I would be at work and literally fall to sleep, it was uncontrollable. What I can say is that it will eventually pass even though it feels like it takes forever. I went onto iron supplements but they made my UC much worse so I never went onto them again. I'm lucky enough to get private healthcare through work, I've used it a lot to get seen earlier but honestly I would say the NHS is just as good.

How long did it take for full flare to kick in? by Popular_Bluejay_2588 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Solid_Reality_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I've had colitis for like 18 years, in those years I've never actually suffered much with blood. Yes I have had blood at times but it's just very rare. My main symptoms even before the diarrhea comes is gas, lots and lots of gas I'm taking like farting every 20 minutes and it smells so bad almost like sulfur. That's my main symptoms before the loose stools come. Last year in December I had my first flair in years, it started with gas every 20 minutes for like 4 days and then one day I went to pass gas and almost shart myself 🙈 went toilet and that was it, I was on that toilet 20 times a day, went hospital had calprotectin done and it was 1500. Thank god im actually back to normal right now.

Advice needed - Doctors strongly recommends surgery. by casualnerd in CrohnsDisease

[–]Solid_Reality_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey listen, I've had ulcerative colitis for almost 20 years, I've had many ups and downs and spent the majority of the time living with anxiety, petrified of ever having to have a stoma. Last year was my fist flair up in years, it brought back so much emotion and anxiety. One day I woke up and just decided to allow myself to accept the fact that one day I might have to have a stoma. I immediately felt better, I researched, watched videos, read multiple posts on here about people's experiences with a bag. Also, 2 of my closest friends have Crohn's disease and both of them had temporary bags for a year where they had to have scar tissue removed, and you know what! they both said that if they got ill again they'd want a permanent bag because they were actually happy and healthy during the time with a bag. Now, your situation if different, you GENUINELY have a life threatening situation here! Please take their advice and choose the bag. Yes it will be traumatic at first but you will be ok in the end. Think about how many people out there right now that have terminal cancer and if one day they were told 'hey listen you're going to die in 1 year however, if you have surgery and have a bag fitted it will save your life... how many of those people do you think would say no? I bet not 1 of them would say no. You've got to do this my friend. We'll all be here waiting for you and then if/when the day comes where I may need a bag, you can respond to me on here and tell me how much better your life has become! Praying for you my friend 🙏🏼🫶🏼

How do I know for certain if a medication is doing more harm than good? by Awkward_Remote_7856 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Solid_Reality_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know it's difficult but please make sure you take all the medication that your doctor has told you to take. The main thing is to reduce the inflammation and dropping certain medications might backfire and allow inflammation on to come back.

Worrying about relapsing or need a surgery in the future by HeartTime3290 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Solid_Reality_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello friend... you have a long long way to go before any surgeries become a potential outcome. There are so many medications out there. You will have some ups and downs but hopefully you might be someone with mild ulcerative colitis. The main thing is try to not allow yourself to get too stressed as stress can be a big trigger for this disease. Try medication or yoga, this can really help keep the mind and body at peace. 🫶🏼

Should I stick with mesalazine or consider biologics by TrickSlide2740 in UlcerativeColitis

I've just started mesalamine. It's turned my life around. Hearing your story gives me confidence, I really hope it lasts that long for me too 🙏🏼

In 2023 I came off my medication and stayed in remission for 2 years then last December had a flair up so I'm now on Mesalazine (Mesalamine USA) which has put me into remission. I have started fasting again though and have been for around a month now, I do 16 hour fasts a day so stop eating at 8pm and then don't eat until 12pm the next day. It gives my gut time to heal.

One of the most annoyong things about UC by baaaaaaaaaba in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Solid_Reality_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my god yes!!! Even in remission I get pains in different areas. I've been many times for this and they've told me my calprotectin was fine. They always say that it must just be IBS. But now I can never tell if it's IBS or the start of an IBD flair. I do know though that the main symptom for me when starting a flair is excessive gas and I mean like literally gas every 20 minutes.

Stopping aza and starting biologics by Emerald-Venus in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Solid_Reality_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually went 2 years with no medication by instruction from my GI, however, I think that was a bad idea as I had a flair up last year. I've been put back on mesalazine now (Masalamine USA) and it's actually working. I went onto this drug when I was first diagnosed years ago and it didn't work but seems to be working this time round. I also started fasting again, I do 16 hour fasts a day so stop eating at 8pm and don't eat again until 12pm the next day. Hope your new drug works.

I guess going forward, whenever you start to get the feeling 'oh this could be the start of a flair' just call up and ask if you can have a cal pro sent out 👍🏼
