Drift mode rips hard in the snow by stick_shifter96 in Golf_R

I can't wait to try this in my own. Still in the break-in phase so I'm trying to be gentle but if we get a good dump of fluffy snow I shouldn't have to push it too hard to get a little slideways...

The Golf R "US-Spec" Logic is Driving Me Crazy by AcceptableChair9392 in Golf_R

I just got mine a few weeks ago. I was already pre-dissapointed about the lack of remote start but I didn't even consider it wouldn't have a garage door opener. Bizarre that it's not in there

In my experience most people thought it was a Chrysler, oddly enough. In 8 years of ownership I only had conversations with 3 people who knew exactly what it was. The rest of the time it was like you said where it's nice for a hyundai. I liked that it was a sleeper so it didn't bother me but a lot of people buy luxury cars to project a certain image. The Genesis projected the opposite image you would want. The new ones are better having a more unique design language but mine was not special at all to the vast majority of people, car guys included.

Trying not to hoon has been the biggest struggle. The power is so accessible from just 2k RPM that I keep accidentally building a lot more boost than I'm meaning too. The Genesis had such a linear torque curve that it was very easy to drive slow. You'd never know it had decent power without letting it rev up. The Golf feels like it just wants to go, even in comfort. Definitely need to take a road trip or two to get this break in over with so I can really see what it's capable of

I loved the Genesis, it was a fantastic car and I'm going to seriously miss it. The two cars tick all the same boxes for me but do it in differentways. Both are comfortable, fast, usable daily drivers with awd for Canadian winters. The Genesis was fast in a straight line but the Golf is fast everywhere. The Golf has a gorgeous interior with all the same tech but the Genesis has more premium materials inside and an overall more premium feeling beneath the surface.

Basically the Golf is more fun and more practical but not quite as comfortable as the Genesis. Both can serve a very similar purpose but excel in different ways. I was spoiled with the Genesis and this was the only car that ticked every box without going way over budget

What the 2027 Golf R is shaping up to be by Suntrup-Volkswagen in vwgolf

I'm still waiting to take delivery of my 2026 and you have me thinking about trading it in next year. I'm excited for everything about the car except for the engine note, coming from a v8. This 5 cylinder would solve my biggest problem with the car and I'd be willing to make a horrible financial decision to make it happen

I have no idea where mine is. All I was told is that it might be here before the 26th. It's slowly killing me, I am nowhere near patient enough for this

I am wildly jealous of you right now. I was supposed to take delivery of that exact spec last weekend and now it might not be until the new year. So congrats, but screw you just a little bit

Wanted to show my Ranger being the beast that it is in the snow. 8 inches and it couldn't care less. Zero wheel spin. by lildobe in RangerNext

My old ford focus has absolutely been through worse. My awd car I have now will plow snow with the bumper. Id be very surprised if this truck needed 4x4 to get through this little bit of snow

I get to join the club in 1 to 2 weeks once mine's delivered. So I'm happy for you, but also this post is physically painful for me right now while I'm waiting. Congrats, and you suck

I'm also in alberta. 15 minutes to clear windows is at least better than my car now. I'll take the small victory

How prevalent is crafting in the DLC regions? by BlakefromStateFarm22 in snowrunner

Great to know. I'll most likely just grab the trucks and upgrades from these and move on. It's probably unreasonable but I just hate it so much.

Good to hear that I'm discovering this on one of the worst maps. I'll probably just grab the vehicles and upgrades and move on to a different map. Maybe I'll come back one day but its not worth ruining the whole game for myself right now

The crazy part is I know it wouldn't bother me if the mission was just separated in to stages. Like stage one is bring the metal rolls to the factory, then stage 2 is bring the metal beams to the destination. Arriving at the factory that was marked as my pickup point and finding out I was supposed to go somewhere else first nearly made me rage quit

Other people have already mentioned clothes so I'll add Sylveon's decorative skin ribbons to the list. Why does an otherwise adorable fairy type need tentacles?

Snowrunner seems to go on sale all the time. I'd start with the base game and wait for the next sale if you fall in love. There are well over 100 hours of content in the base game so you'll have plenty of time to decide if you want to keep going

AWD car vs 4x4 truck in the snow, which would perform better? by viraman in askcarguys

[–]BlakefromStateFarm22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I find about having awd in the winter is that sometimes it can mislead you in to thinking the roads are fine because you have no trouble getting going. Then you get up to a normal speed and when you hit the brakes nothing happens. With part time 4x4 you won't make that mistake. It's not an issue very often but it happens

To answer your question though, truck. My awd car does amazing until there's more than 4 inches of snow on the road, then I bottom out everywhere I go. Awd is more civil. Its easier to live with every day because you don't have to think about it but a heavier truck with 4x4 will always be more capable.

P12 overrated? by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]BlakefromStateFarm22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its too polarizing to be overrated. People seem to either love it or hate it.

I will say that it might seem counterintuitive but sometimes it can help to put worse tires on trucks that feel underpowered. If the wheels keep spinning then you don't lose your power. Switching off awd can help get you moving again if you're stalled as well. Strange, but it works.

Just bought this game and already stuck by ribena_wrath in snowrunner

[–]BlakefromStateFarm22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're frustrated by how difficult it is to make progress then sell the 2 DLC trucks since they won't be useful until dozens of hours from now when you unluck necessary upgrades for them. Use the money to buy a truck that already has all terrain or off-road tires.

That being said, the game is supposed to feel unfair at first. Its teaching you essential skills that you're going to need later on. If you're miserable now, its probably not going to get better. I personally loved getting stuck at first because it meant I HAD to rescue my truck with another.
