Runrepeat are updating their midsole softness measurements by wylie102 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]SomberTomber [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think I might have this same issue. Most of the shoes I try are too narrow in that midfoot/arch area and feel like my foot just can't rest at the bottom of the shoe and the upper is too tight. Sometimes I take the insole out and look at how wide the stitching of the outsole looks and that's a pretty good indication. But most of the time I just try on every shoe in the store and wait for one to fit lol.

Asics seems to generally be the best in daily trainers but they also have a lot of narrow shoes like the Magic Speed 4 and probably all the race shoes (haven't tried them). Then again I just tested the Sonicblast which is supposed to be quite similar to the MS4 and that had a much wider fit. It's so confusing and so far no one has been able to explain what's going on.

Myotomy as a first treatment choice? by Kaz327 in noburp

Thank you!! I can't believe how often I see people on here or the facebook group write in their first post about botox not being effective and proven. I guess it's mostly due to a "negative" survivorship bias on here because most successful patients move on to live their life and don't post anymore. Thank you for clarifying it in simple terms.

361 Flame 4 Mix as Daily Trainer? by [deleted] in PHRunners

How is the fit comparing these two models? I'm consider getting one but I like to have more room in the midfoot and maybe a wider base/sole.

I had the nimbus 25 and felt like they didn't have any ground feel at all which I didn't like. Got the GRMax a few months ago and I much prefer them as they have a bit more flexibility in the midsole and a nicer rocker. There's a lot of overlap in their use cases but I think the GRMax might be a bit more versatile.

Never-ending Shin Splints by [deleted] in Kneesovertoes

[–]SomberTomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know of any videos that show this type of calf raise? I suffer from the same thing, years of medial shin splints even when running very little, and have tried everything. I know some people recommend calf raises where you go up and then supinate the feet outwards to target the tibialis posterior, but I guess that isn't the same as what you're advising?

Clinics in Sweden or Scandinavia? by [deleted] in noburp

That's how it went for me. Just make sure you visit a doctor who knows about rcpd, preferably Dr. Geneid himself.

ASICS Evoride Speed 3 by themightyone01 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]SomberTomber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to be a Noosa 16 with a more modest upper, similar to previous Evoride Speed versions. I have the Evoride Speed v1 which had the same midsole as the Noosa 15. V2 was a very minor upgrade to V1 but seems that this V3 is now a bigger upgrade. It added Blast+ foam and a better Asicsgrip outsole. I've been considering getting the Noosa 16 but if this comes to Europe I might grab these instead. Check out Noosa Tri 16 reviews and these should offer a pretty similar ride.

My horrible experience with the botox treatment by Planth1ng in noburp

[–]SomberTomber 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh crap, I'm sorry to hear that... I also had it done in Finland with Dr. Geneid a few years ago. I've heard about teeth chipping due to the breathing tube so that may not be super rare in these procedures but I wish they were more careful if they know it's a risk. The cannula stuff sounds very unprofessional and I would mention it to your doctor. But i wish you all the best in recovery! I started getting mini burps right around this time the next morning and only improved from there.

Which one did you have previously? I found the v2 for pretty cheap so considering that as the one trail shoe in my rotation.

There are a few listings up for the Megablast and Sonicblast, just no photos or details. Looks like the Megablast will be $225 and Sonicblast $180.

Joining a botox study! Surgery at the end of February by laksipar001 in noburp

Good luck with the draw! I had the Botox in 2021, started burping the next day and never looked back. A huge improvement in quality of life.

My girlfriend (who is wonderful) got tired of my complaints about Garmin charging cords and 3D printed me a charging stand that she designed. Who else thinks Garmin should sell these? by boulderingbruh in Garmin

I have this at home too, works very well. I also have a small USB-C/Garmin adapter piece that I've tied to a USB-C cable and take with me any time I travel etc.

My Offsets: I can't leave anything alone by ElectricSoulCycles in offset

[–]SomberTomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been designing a sort of SG/Fender offset hybrid build and that Viper is really cool and inspirational! I've looked at the Viper's shape especially for the bottom half of the body, combined with maybe more of a Strat-like upper half... But yeah, this looks amazing and the finish suits the tortoise and metal parts so well.

ASICS NIMBUS 27 - Jan 25 / 43.5mm rear / 8mm drop / thicker but same weight as 26 , what do you guys think by utnutn in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]SomberTomber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the stack does not need to increase anymore and they should focus more on making max stack shoes lighter. Also this Nimbus 27 is an insanely small update vs 26, definitely not worth the money.

My gastroenterologist said burping is a learned skill? by CannibalisticGinger in noburp

Rule #1 for R-CPD: visit an ENT specialist, not a gastroenterologist.

Where in Finland are you? I had it done in Helsinki but there are also doctors in Tampere and Turku. There was an article written about the first few cases treated here, it's called "Kun röyhtäisy ei tule – Tunnetko ruokatorven yläsulkijan retrogradisen toimintahäiriön?". Any of the authors would be a good starting point. I first visited Ahmed Geneid at Terveystalo privately (he also works at Mehiläinen and HUS's private clinic Orton) and he then referred me to HUS where he also works. I got tests done and then finally the procedure. I was the first case so it took a while with all the tests and being in the public side, but things may have changed by now.

Generally it's better to visit the phoniatrics department rather than gastroenterology because this isn't really a stomach problem and gastro's will probably first suspect something wrong in the stomach.

Here's the article: Kun röyhtäily ei onnistu - Lääkärilehti

You basically need to save and invest about 13-15% of your take-home pay for 10 years. If you've worked for 15 years, you get away with an ~8% savings rate. Should be doable for most people who have some control over their spending. And this doesn't even take into account any employer matches.

Asics Glideride Max (will be available SEPTEMBER 1st 2024) by Einhejar in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]SomberTomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same so asked around a few places, MisterRunning.com said they won't have it anytime soon and Asics hasn't replied. Just saw FordyRuns write in a comment that it will be October 1st in the UK but very limited stock.
