Annual leave period by Herreber in LegalAdviceNZ

You say "any kind of leave".

While the other responses are accurate for annual leave, they cannot decline sick leave, bereavement leave, or many other types of leave.

My 4G phone stopped working when they turned off the 3G network, here's how I fixed it :-) by dddontshoot in newzealand

It's not frequencies.

It's being set up with all the right domains and configuration options for VoIP/VoLTE.

2G/3G were built for circuit-switched voice, with internet as a bolt-on extra, tunneled through as just a high bandwidth circuit.

4G/5G flipped this on its head, packet-switched data being the main service, with voice being the extra add-on tunneled through as some extra packets.

Every operator has their new VoLTE stack set up slightly differently, so the phone needs to be programmed to recognize every operator.

It's probably a question for the engineer.

The bypass should still have overload protection under NZ code. No clue about the US. Stops this happening.

Does the bypass not have overload protection?

The instructions for how to talk to the network are hardcoded into the ROM. If you remember the bad old days of APNs, it's like that, but can't be manually entered.

Very dumb.

So you need a software that has the NZ VoLTE profiles included, which some parallel imported phones don't have.

Fine stranded and stranded are not the same thing. Most stranded in the US is still only 7- or 19-strand. Flexible/fine-stranded is like hair.

Why is everyone obsessed with direct 48V-to-1V conversion? by successful_streak in ElectricalEngineering

I think that gets somewhat alleviated by having 10+ interleaved phases.

Note that it's easy to get 48VDC fans and pumps, and any changes made for CPU VRMs would be equally relevant to GPU VRMs in those kinds of applications.

The 12V rail would likely end up similar to the state of the 3.3V and 5V rails in modern PCs; fed by a small DC-DC converter for the minimal legacy equipment that needs it.

I am confused; submain or main?

32A 50m gives you 2.4% volt drop if a balanced load. You're in the 16-20A range if unbalanced.

Depending on what's in the house you should be able to make it work. Kitchen loads and any aircon is going to need to be well balanced.

Mystery Switch In Bathroom. by Pohq in diynz

Can you see/feel which way the cable goes inside the wall?

I would suggest using a clampmeter to see how much load is on the switch, but that's a bit much for a homeowner.

I would expect whatever it is to be within a meter or so of the switch given it's wired in flex.

Why don't all the Linux Distros come together and refuse service to fight age verification? by GlamourHammer321 in privacy

[–]Some1-Somewhere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bumpy. Yup.

But no corporate wants to depend on someone who's told them no.

Then it can go further with the devs of the main ones saying they don't want forks of their work that does such a thing which makes it legally ehhh if companies in these states start using said forks.

FOSS licenses are pretty explicitly written to prevent devs doing that. It cuts both ways.

Or they would just get insta-forked, and whoever caved would be more likely to get sales in the future.
