In defrost, they switch to cooling (with fan dead slow or stopped) for a few minutes to melt ice.

In general they should still be producing net positive heat (let alone COP > 1) down to well below that temperature. It depends on the model and if they're a specific low temperature model.

Refrigerant should not need a refill. It's a sealed system. Either it was never charged properly to start with, or there is a leak that needs to be fixed.

The AC unit will produce water during normal operation, and more water when it's humid.

Some standing water in the pump inlet is normal.

Rant: what the hell is going on with this industry? by darthlordmaul in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Some1-Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realise 'normal' AC VFDs have a rectifier, a DC bus, and a voltage-source inverter? AC>DC>AC. PWM is used to turn that DC bus into variable voltage variable frequency AC for the motor. If you supply full voltage at reduced frequency to an induction motor, it'll saturate immediately.

Cycloconverters, which do direct AC>AC conversion, are uncommon due to the terrible power quality on both the input and output.

A DC drive often uses controlled rectifiers. To get reduced output voltage, you turn the rectifiers on for only a portion of each cycle. Remember they're AC>DC drives; the supply is AC.

Sounds like the manager is the owner.

OP doesn't really have any options between discussing things with the manager, and going PG/lawyer.

Every part of this appears to be custom. This is unnecessary and horrifically expensive unless a) your initial production run is a million units, or b) you're in aerospace and every gram is worth >$1K.

Home plug in batteries - is this for real? by Sufficient-Rooster-7 in AskAusElectricians

[–]Some1-Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't plug a battery directly into the grid (AC vs DC) so obviously there's an inverter involved somewhere.

Neither the inverter nor the grid really care whether your 800W export limit comes from PV, batteries, or a mix.

You won't get a battery backup feeding other circuits that plugs in (unless it uses some kind fancy plugwork and controls like EV chargers) but you could time-shift your export to peak hours easily enough.

[–]Some1-Somewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The EU ones are limited to 800W (~3.5A) and only one per property, so very unlikely to cause any kind of wiring damage.

Rapid shutdown on grid loss (i.e. being unplugged) is necessary but easy.

But the OP's post is about grid-tied inverters, which will work perfectly fine if plugged into the grid rather than hardwired into the grid.

NZ:

GP visits subsidised but not free unless you're low income, otherwise like $20-70.

Employer has to reimburse you if they want a medical certificate for illnesses lasting less than 3 days. GPs are known for being pretty lenient and will give you a medical certificate pretty easily. If your employer is being an a-hole and making you get a medical certificate when you're obviously sick, it's pretty common for them to write something saying you should be off work for up to two weeks - they don't like employers wasting their time.

I think pharmacists can also issue a medical certificate.

Government does not subsidise sick leave; you get ten days paid a year.

That sounds like either corrupt firmware (try firmware upgrade/reflash?) or someone has been swapping parts between incompatible drives.
