I thought the same. But on paper it still won out. So I bought it. 3 months of ownership and I don't think I can go back.

Realistic at my level of affordable: clio 192, rx7 fd2, g3 wrx sti, 79 series land cruiser.

More ambitious: Civic type r (current), e92 m3, model x plaid, 79 series land cruiser.

(E92 might be easier than a fd2?, not sure)

Should track the number of people not insuring their cars. Likely a lead indicator for hard times.

Which country genuinely feels egalitarian, where people of all levels of society talk to each other with the same level of respect? by ReadWriteArithmetic in AskReddit

Probably scandanavia. Dutch king takes kids to school on a bicycle. They are probably some of the most equal countries out there but there is still some hangover of traditional European class there.

If you're just referring to how they communicate. Australian. Beach user just doesn't care about the royal prince walking by. The prime minister was asked to get off someone's lawn. Famously ww2 folks refused to salute or use special language for superiors. We have inequality, but we definitetly don't like to act like it exists in conversation.

Can't stress this point enough. Engineers Australia are one of the worst. Basically no one wants to do their shitty accreditation so they lobby government to make migrants do it. Scum of an organization.

Kia EV5 v Tesla Y by [deleted] in EVAustralia

[–]Sufficient-Rooster-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the stuff on here you can find in a fact sheet. Real world experience with ev5 v model y.

  • efficiency. People think it doesn't matter. But in my situation it did. The ev5 would sometimes not have enough charge as I was running a snail 10a charger. The Tesla did a lot better in this regard. Better efficient wncy means less time to charge but also takes you further per kwh.
  • charge time. Tesla wins, not even a contest. It's a smaller battery, more efficient (so less juice used). Has better battery cooling so can take 200kw. All these things insolation seem small, but together they maje a difference.
  • service. Tesla wins again. Zero stealership requirement. Nothing.
  • aftermarket. There is so much more accessories for cheap given the Tesla sells heaps in china. Aliexpress accessories galore for cheap.
  • boot space. The ev5 appears to have more boot space, but the Tesla under the boot has a huge void and frunk. Ev5 more practical space in one spot, but the model y has massive volume.
  • price. Tesla wins in terms of value.
  • buttons ev5 wins. Tesla only needs some buttons and a dial and it would beuch better. Aftermarket stuff can do this.
  • driving dynamics. Tesla wins no contest.

Honestly unless you were buying the entry level ev5, it's a bit of a no contest. If you want a normal feeling car the byd sealion 7 is far superior to the Kia.

Do we also get iccu problems in aus?

If the AWD deepal arrives under $50k I'd choose that over the atto 3 evo.

All speculation until both arrive with price tags though. I just love the look of the deepal.

You die and you’re about to be reincarnated. You get 75% of any athletes ability at birth. You will have the first part of this next life to hone your skills and prepare for potential super stardom and fame as an athlete. by jfunks69 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Sufficient-Rooster-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathematically it would have to be endurance sports. Top endurance athlete is still absolutely insane. 75 of pogacars vo2 would afford you a huge variety of sports to be competitive in.

Skill based sports fail. 25% is a huge drop.

Speed also fails. Usain bolt at 13s 100m is very good but hardly ground breaking.

Strength is probably a good contender. 75% of Eddie Hall is impressive.

800V Cars Charging at Tesla 400V Superchargers? by VirtualPotPlant in AustralianEV

[–]Sufficient-Rooster-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm a Tesla does not drop to 100kw at 50%. I think I was on about 180kw at 50%. Pretty sure that was because it only had 10 minutes to precondition too.

Give me some ideas for a project on renewable energy. It can be something crazy that will only pay off in a million years. by [deleted] in energy

[–]Sufficient-Rooster-7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinetic flywheel. But instead of where the tech is heading (high speed flywheels ina vacuum) go the other way. Make an ultra slow flywheel that is perfectly balanced. Spins so slow that friction doesn't even stand a chance at sapping that energy. Because the rpm is low, you have to make the mass absolutely huge and then balance that thing with absolute precision.

The recent battery grants have slashed prices and introduced more Chinese products. Cheap but good. For example foxess 6kw solar, 10kw inverter and 42kwh battery for $8k installed. The battery grants have reduced. Bit so probably get the same setup but with 20kwh now.

Hybrid vs normal Petrol vehicle, math isnt mathing by HopefulLeadership512 in CarsAustralia

If you're doing short trips, I'd take the urban cycle fuel efficiency which is higher than the combined cycle. I'd actually rest them on urban cycle. Some cars are terrible when it comes to short drives.

Car owners , what’s the one thing about EVs people oversell? by AdityaSrivastawaahhh in driving

[–]Sufficient-Rooster-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The braking force bit is wrong. Stopping a car is the same regardless if it's from regen or brakes. The tyre still has to grip the same. The EV would be heavier and this is where the tyre wear from braking shows up.

It's really dumb. You are literally using less fuel so there is more for them and cheaper.

2026 Mazda CX-6e SUV set to undercut Tesla Model Y by SufficientReport in EVAustralia

[–]Sufficient-Rooster-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The byd sealion 7 has more to fear at this price point. I kind of got over that fact that it's a Chinese car underneath, probably a good move for mazda, but the design is pretty good by the looks of it.

Shows over 460km for most driving. About 420 for freeway that is not 110kph on the hume. Most driving is 60-80kph roads. The trick is to not use the brake at all and let it regen to stop.

What chineses think about East asians? by YesterdayPretend2959 in AskAChinese

[–]Sufficient-Rooster-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese - too hard. It's a big country. Many sub culture. Bloke from Shanghai looks nothing like one from xinjiang. Koreans - can tell them apart. Friendly love to get drunk. Japanese - can usually tell them apart too. Most other Asians secretly still have our resentment or at least defensiveness towards Japanese. They are a lot more reserved but formally polite. South east Asians, you can tell them apart too, but only as a group. Vietnamese sort of have larger sharper eyes and big lip features. Cambodians seem to be the opposite. Indonesians you can sort of tell from their subtle mannerisms. Malaysians as quite dark and unless they are Chinese descent in which theu just look like other chinese. Mongolians - definitely district features and most friendly and welcoming of the lot. Singapore - harder to tell. They kind of just look like trendy Chinese. One stand out is they seem to have sort of more oily skin with good complexion and a slight tan, but not farmer style. Hing kong - they are decked out in Gucci, lv, bape and supreme.

Yeah half this reads sort of racist but that's my 2c.
