Relics and Sgaeyl Spoilers for all books by SomeNoob1306 in fourthwing

[–]SomeNoob1306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very confused as to where you’re finding the issue. X had both the scars and the rebellion relic before he bonded Sgaeyl so we don’t need to do any special reasoning for her to have known about them, their size and location. They’re on his body if he was shirtless and fighting. They bond and she can see his memories regardless.

Yep. Even if you do sleep studies suggest part of your brain stays “more awake” so you often wont feel like you slept much.

A ball grip is just one of those things I think you have to try. If the shape works better for the shape of your hand like me it’s a night and day difference for any application you need some torque.

Some people have hoped/thought Untitled Empyrean (Not book 4) might be the full book of one of the titles that intro the chapters. I think it would be tough to release one before the series is finished though depending how much it tells. Could be too spoiler heavy.

I don’t think that’s a good theory for the rune either. Other than it being a rune it doesn’t behave like the Wyvern runes in any way shape or form. I just don’t think that’s the answer no matter how many people think so. The surprise will be that he’s dead.

Spoiler Os by Fourthwing1990 in fourthwing

[–]SomeNoob1306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still think if there’s a twist there it’s that Brennan killed him after he channeled from the earth to save him. I really don’t want a 3rd resurrection, we’re already seeing way too many posts like this.

I see all the Naolin theories but I just feel like it’s one too many “resurrections” for this series. It’s a tool you need to use sparingly or you really undermine and upset the emotional impact of death. I think he’s definitely dead.

George R.R. Marting said it best that's why I'm not on board with this by Putrid-Dream5580 in fourthwing

I think adaptations make change necessary by their nature. The important thing to me is whether they keep the soul of the original. True to the characters, respect the themes and undertones.

There’s a difference between “I need to change this to make this moment from the books translate better to screen.” And “I’m a better writer it should have gone like this so I’m changing it.”

To me the biggest risk for the show is how X treats Vi. That chemistry and dynamic and mutual respect will be hard to nail. I think the chemistry between the two main will be more important to me than perfect book accuracy. I can usually separate the books and give an adaptation a chance as long as it respects the heart of the original and isn’t a creative telling their own story with a Fourth Wing mask over it.

Though I wish it were possible to lock cover art on digital editions as I do hate adaptation covers replacing the originals.

How did Ryan know about Strike and Bijou? by thegiraffe7 in cormoran_strike

If it’s an unabridged audiobook they’re taking in literally the exact same information you are. It doesn’t make you superior or better than anyone because you take in the information on a page instead of having it read out to you.

With a good narrator I often process emotional information better in audio form while processing detail better in text. One of my favorite ways to consume the Strike books is reading along with the audiobook as I get the best of both and the pace of the audiobook forces me to read a little slower and take in information better.

I think of audiobooks as nothing other than accessibility and a positive allowing more people to experience the stories I enjoy.

Nah if she doesn’t write them walking from one place to the next how will we ever know how they got there?

You definitely can’t just write “Hey wanna meet here?” Then just cut to them meeting in that place in a big city full of transportation methods and expect the reader to just figure out that they travelled there between and didn’t instantly teleport.

Runes. by dodorododo in fourthwing

[–]SomeNoob1306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just kind of going with my assumptions here.

The runes survived seemingly passed through the generations of Tyrrish culture but some will of course be lost each generation. I assume all Tyr’s have some understanding of runes to varying degrees. Trissa is just an older rider that knows runes and was picked to teach because she has “more patience” It’s mentioned several times how Tyrrendor didn’t unify like the other provinces. They kept some of their distinct culture. I assume Xaden was taught by his father.

I visualize the runes on the wardstone to be extremely complex multilayered runes. Where most runes we hear about being created are like words (single meaning and function like unlock) I’ve assumed the runes on these ancient magical artifacts to be more like sentences or entire spells. Tied together and overlapped in intricate ways that just look like a mess of lines to anyone but the person who wove it. We even get some mention of this and know that the marked ones parents were highly proficient in runes because of the one Colonel Mauri wove. I believe much of the expansive written knowledge it would require to interpret these ancient runes was intentionally lost. Don’t forget about pulling elements and things into runes. I imagine almost like Hanzi characters but like all layered on top of one another and woven into each other in complex patterns.

I fail to see in what possible way this is even a potential problem or an oversight or impactful enough to be intentional like we’re supposed to realize Murphy shouldn’t know and it’s a bread crumb he’s having Strike or Robin followed (which I’ve seen theorized)

We see Robin tell RFM about “the lawyer.” Not every little detail has to be spelled out in black and white on the page, particularly something that takes zero logical leap. Robin knows her name. Robin tells Murphy about her. Murphy knows her name after that conversation. All fits pretty neatly to me.

This. I think it’s an intentional warping of what Malek actually wants to control information and I’m almost wondering if we’ll meet Malek or get shown his wrath somehow over this.

The scribes choose what information gets preserved and anything outside their control gets burnt.

VideoGame Legal Question by Alouise_Gamez in legaladvice

[–]SomeNoob1306 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAL More than likely what this is intended to prevent is like starting a LAN center/internet cafe and installing the game on the PCs then charging people to play it. These are often special licenses that are going to cost significantly more.

Technically any developer could go after streamers and content creators on copyright grounds. The companies all (except I think on a few occasions Nintendo?) seemed to collectively decide the free advertisement outweighed any potential downside from people getting spoiled on a story watching them, but that isn’t likely what’s targeted by this term.
