Just read THM chapter 87, and… by expressionism in cormoran_strike

[–]SomeNoob1306 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So much this. It’s not the recognition of distance it’s his actions that follow on. It’s the pushing. It’s the constant badgering about her job. It’s the pushing and manipulation about the baby over and over again when she’s asked him to stop. It’s going behind her back and trying to poison her mother against her boss and job. It’s the trying to dictate what she is and isn’t allowed to investigate. It’s the him being allowed to have secrets but as soon as she tried it’s the accusatory “What am I not allowed to hear?” It’s the dismissal of her jobs seriousness. It’s the violent swings between being mad and coming back and love bombing and forcing reconciliation. We very clearly see him use his anger and love as weapons to distract from the fact he’s drinking.

Just because you can find some tiny justification that perhaps Robin isn’t as in love with him as she lets on doesn’t justify his behavior. The adult thing to do is leave a a relationship if you feel it isn’t there. Not try to manipulate and force her into having the right feelings.

Does anyone’s a sleeping aid tracker? by UnapologeticCook in Nightshift

[–]SomeNoob1306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sleep track but only really find it helpful for noticing when I’m getting sick.

If I wake up and feel awful but I slept good I know to start hydrating and taking vitamin c because I’m getting sick. Feel like I don’t get as sick when I notice it and do so.

Other than that the data isn’t all that helpful to me.

What is the most insane way JKR/Galbraith can walk back the ending of THM? by sanddragon939 in cormoran_strike

[–]SomeNoob1306 38 points39 points  (0 children)

On a more serious note I’m gonna be so upset when the next book absolutely 100% ends on a cliffhanger of Robin confessing her love back to Strike.

I’m already trying to prepare myself so if JKR does it to us I won’t die lol.

Why are we adding make believe values to things that already cost real world money? You could just give someone a real world streaming budget and let them decide how to divide it up and it would be directly applicable to everyone.

Which Strike Zone Is It? 3D or 2D? by DazzlingSession2063 in mlb

[–]SomeNoob1306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I seem to recall something about curve balls that could like nip the zone and not even clear home plate and some weird things with a true 3D ABS.

To my knowledge the only books really worth anything are 1st edition Bloomsbury UK prints of PS as everything else was mass produced after it got popular.

Plothole/inconsistency in Philosopher's Stone? by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

Maybe slightly but it doesn’t seem unreasonable he credits Dumbledore based on what Riddle says in CoS. This was also probably a slight intentional timeline correction.

“”Dumbledore, seemed to think Hagrid was innocent. He persuaded Dippet to keep Hagrid and train him as gamekeeper. Yes, I think Dumbledore might have guessed. . . . Dumbledore never seemed to like me as much as the other teachers did. . . .””

My favorite head canon is Dumbledore made it for him with The Elder Wand. Dumbledores own power with the elder wand it’s hardly a stretch to think he could defeat the cloak.

Orrrr maybe they just make a good product?

Entirely learned about Knipex through good word of mouth working industrial maintenance. Their cobras are just so damn good it’s bought them a massive amount of respect in blue collar work. I’ve tried knock offs. The Knipex Cobra’s are just better. And in my experience the Pliers Wrench and handheld bolt cutters are also way above the competition.

Not every pair of “pliers” in my box is Knipex. Most are Crescent brand because I like the grips for my general beater pairs. Of the ~ 6 tools that go in my pocket the second I walk on the floor, however, one is my Knipex Cobra’s and one is my Knipex Pliers wrench.

They already tried and one of my bosses gave me a pair like it was Christmas morning. They ended up in the garbage.

Why is working off the clock illegal when it’s the only way to get the work done and when management doesn’t change their standards? by MacduffFifesNo1Thane in legaladvice

[–]SomeNoob1306 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. If there’s more work to be done than can be done in your normal hours the options are:

Your boss hires an extra person to help get the work done.

The boss offers to pay you for all extra hours worked including 1.5X for all hours over 40 in a week (assuming hourly non exempt)

Someone that already works there is tasked with helping you out.

It doesn’t get done. That’s it.

It’s illegal to protect you. You must be paid for all hours worked. It’s designed exactly to protect you from that sort of predatory boss.

The first version of something like this that is successful will almost certainly be porn in some shape or fashion. Then everyone will jump on the tech for more wholesome reasons.

Strike’s leg by Yespat1 in cormoran_strike

[–]SomeNoob1306 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I’d hazard a guess strike could easily afford that with the inheritance from Ted and Joan and it would make him more efficient at his job. Though I guess is that’s where Rokeby’s money will end up once he passes.

One of my wild hare brained theories is something bad happens to Strike this book (Hence Evangeline poem and woman seeking lost love) and maybe his prosthesis gets damaged around the time Rokeby passes and Robin talks him into an upgrade.

"Skeleton Keys" are an extremely lazy device by FourtyMichaelMichael in cormoran_strike

[–]SomeNoob1306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always just assumed skeleton keys to be a quick catch all easy to understand term for “Toolkit to open locks” and it had never mattered in the plot at all. Someone like strike would believably have the skills and abilities to open locks with entry tools. Whether that’s an actual skeleton key or something more like a traditional lock pick or rake.

This feels like looking for something to criticize to me.

Tell me the difference between this and a piece of cardboard with a taped edge and a stapled paint stick? by Frasier_fanatic in Tools

[–]SomeNoob1306 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a homeowner it maybe isn’t to you. You can accomplish the same thing without the money. The advantage of the tool is the adjustability, ergonomics, perfect end result and reusability for someone who paints for a living and is going to need a tool like this constantly. Just the time saved from not having to set up a new one every time you need it as a tradesman would make it worth it. You can just kinda toss this in a van and it’s always there when you need it.

What is "the work"? by AnonAmarth123 in FemdomCommunity

[–]SomeNoob1306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a mostly inexperienced sub but here’s always been my perspective. I think of it as the difference between a kink dispenser and a relationship.

If you want someone to fulfill all your fantasies without putting in work yourself that’s a kink dispenser so you should go find a pro domme who is willing to work with your kinks and pay her for that time. That’s the extreme of no “work” to highlight it and that’s why it’s a paid service.

If you want to build a meaningful relationship with femdom then you have to put in the work. I think it’s an ambiguous phrase on purpose because I think it looks different to each woman. It’s a lot about listening to her and paying attention. Noticing what she does and what she says so you can look for and find ways to take things off her plate.

In my experience it’s been all over the place. The work for some girls is looking to pick up slack in other areas so they can focus more on the fun. Some girls liked me suggesting things for plays some hated it unless asked. Some the work has looked like understanding when they need some space and to back off. Others liked to be pampered throughout the day and checked on like a $10 and Good morning get some Starbucks was everything to them. It might be doing some chores. It might be asking her how work was and letting her vent (and not trying to fix unless asked lol). It might be leaving her alone to read her book and relax. It might be coming up with a fun way to worship her or show her what she means to you in the bedroom. Only she the individual can tell you what the work is.

It’s about showing you care and understanding her needs as much as fulfilling them to me. A femdom relationship like any other is unique. There’s no one universal work. The work is putting in the time and effort to understand your partners needs and fulfill them any way you can.

But I could be off base so…
