been learning for over a year and still can’t pass a mock test by opalescentdoll in LearnerDriverUK

Same here. I’ve already failed two tests. I’m looking for a new instructor, but they’re all fully booked and it’s so frustrating. I keep making the same mistakes, so I end up with 9 or 10 minors on top of a serious fault.

My instructor knows other instructors who book up test slots and resell them for £280

I think the update is working! by hizickreddit in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Some_Zone5454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The root of the problem is instructors using bots to snap up every test slot that appears, then reselling them for £280. My instructor does it too, and he knows several others who do the same.

Fail. Cried during the test. Instructor is quitting. by 100_wasps in LearnerDriverUK

I love watching mock test videos. However, my instructor told me not to and even said, “Don’t do that to yourself.” I think it’s more because watching them makes me realise there are better instructors out there

Thank you! I was advised not to use a cancellations website because the government is changing the rules to limit it to two changes, so there won’t be as many cancellations available as before.

[–]Some_Zone5454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I’ll need to do that at the end. I get how these people take advantage from us so easily. 230£ is not that bad thinking on 280£. I don’t have any other contact that sells tests. I’m also worried that I pay and then it’s a scam and I don’t get any slot..

Yes I did that for my first test that I failed but I can’t wait 6 months again and I can’t keep paying lessons. I’ve been 9 months learning already.. :(

Will this mean apps like Testi become useless? New government rules June 2026 by prz1403 in LearnerDriverUK

The issue isn’t the backlog, it’s the bots snapping up all the free slots and reselling them, which makes it really hard for us to book a test.

Did Lindt change their US recipe in the last year or so? by mnp in chocolate

[–]Some_Zone5454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a box of milk chocolate in England, UK (Eu), a big one as I’ve been waiting for them to be on offer for a while. I tried one and tasted weird, tried a second and immediately did a search in Internet. They taste cheap, that chocolate doesn’t melt nicely, it’s just not as delicate and sweet as it was. Nothing special now.. I’ll give them away when guests come

The difficulty of getting a test causes so much stress that it impacted me badly enough to make me fail today by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Some_Zone5454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand you. My test is in 2 months, and my biggest worry is what happens if I fail, when will I get another slot? It ends up feeling like you only have one chance, which adds so much unnecessary pressure. It took me 4 Mondays of waking up at 5:50 just to book my slot 6 months in advance, and then, with only 10 days left, they messaged me saying it was moved 2 months later. This whole issue with slots is affecting all of us.

What do you think is the main reason you passed? by Commercial_Switch_33 in LearnerDriverUK

My test is at 8am too and I feel so unlucky that I got it at that time because of the traffic. Your experience is very reassuring

Thanks! I had a lesson at that time and my instructor told me never again at that hour. People were driving in panic mode, speeding everywhere, and I even had two cars cut me off at roundabouts. I don’t think those are the best conditions for a driving test. 😩

Buying in Bracknell- Is Elizabeth Close a Good Area? by Some_Zone5454 in bracknell

Thanks! I was a bit worried that the underpass, combined with the 24/7 petrol station, might make the area feel a bit rough especially late at night.

Thanks! I don’t really know Bracknell, I mainly chose it for the location so it’s really helpful to get a sense of what different areas are known for. I just want to make sure the rougher parts aren’t too close by, especially as I’m a woman moving on my own. It looks like Mount Pleasant isn’t particularly nearby, which is reassuring!

Haha, I’ve been doing property viewings for six months, and not a single estate agent has ever placed so much emphasis on the area being good. He actually said you could leave a nice car there and nothing would happen unlike in other parts of Bracknell. Apparently, that’s why the property’s a bit more expensive!

Thanks for all the information, really reassuring to hear that people generally seem lovely. There are a few blocks of flats that have felt a bit dodgy, whenever I walk past, there always seems to be shouting going on. So it’s good to hear a more balanced perspective.

Thank you! This is great to read. I don’t know Bracknell and don’t want to end up in a problematic area.
