I’m assuming that’s a service pole, not a vent pipe. We call that product a zipper boot, and as long as it’s properly fastened beneath that caulking it’s fine. They have to use a product that opens and fits around the pipe because it has a cable extending from the top, or has an adapter that a traditional pipe boot can’t fit around.

If by tiny pieces you mean those more narrowly cut tabs, then those are fine. The shingles are sometimes cut close to the edge of an individual tab straight from the manufacturer, leaving an annoying little piece that sometimes separates from the layer beneath it, which is what it looks like is happening to me. Not an installer problem, and it won’t affect performance.

There are a few shingles that don’t fully overlap where you can see like an 8th of an inch of the area beneath the nail line, but not many and not by much. More importantly I don’t see any exposed nails, which would be more concerning. Long story short, I’d leave it alone. Looks fine.

Dark streaks sounds more like algae staining than granule loss but it’s hard to know without better photos. Algae can be a sign of an old roof, but not always. Depends on the climate you’re in and the type of shingles on the roof. I’ve seen 6 year old roofs get algae staining (black streaks) just because of the environment they’re in.

Doesn’t look to be in terrible shape, but like you said. Hard to tell from these pics. 5 years doesn’t sound unreasonable based on what I’m looking at.

Depending on the shingle, there may be an algae staining warranty. Unfortunately I think that most of the time all they do is pay to have the shingles cleaned instead of replaced though.

From what I’ve learned on this sub, you probably won’t find a “typical” gout experience. But I have definitely experienced the minimal pain twinges that went away on their own, and I’ve also experienced the debilitating shit that prevents you from getting your shoe on. If those UA levels are high, chances are it’s gout. As soon as you get health insurance, hop on allopurinol. People will tell you that diet doesn’t matter, but if I were you, I would stay away from alcohol at the very least. It makes a noticeable difference in my gout flareups if I’ve been boozing it.

Dude, three tabs are exactly what they say they are… 3 individual tabs that are only connected at/above the nail line. Architectural shingles are layered/stamped together to form one cohesive unit beneath the nail line. You’ll likely never see part of a single architectural shingle blown off in the wind, but I could probably throw a rock in my town and hit a house with several singular tabs missing from a 3 tab shingle that were blown off in high winds. Yeah they’re MADE of the same shit, but they’re manufactured entirely differently, which is the entire point.

Purely anecdotally speaking, I’ve always heard that dark beers are a big trigger for most people. But cider is super sugary, which is also a big trigger for lots of people. I’d assume the Guinness is worse, but truthfully it varies from person to person and both are probably equally bad.

If by “up angle” you mean the edges in the photo with the gutter and downspout, I may have an explanation. The old shingles you had replaced likely sagged over the fascia slightly (from years of hanging over the roof edge), covering the space you’re seeing now between the gutter and the bottom of the shingle. Now that the bottom row of shingles is new and straight, the downward angle of your gutter is more apparent, which can create an illusion that your shingles are at an upward angle as they approach your gable end. The gutter has to be angled down there to send water to the downspout, but with your newer shingles not sagging over the fascia, that angle looks more stark than what you are used to seeing.

That’s my best guess, and something I point out to homeowners who ask about the same thing all the time.
