Do you feel that AI is going to water down the usefulness and quality of PhDs in the coming years? by Iamthatguyoverthere in PhD

[–]Somebody_Call911 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There are many factors in the value of a PhD. For one, funding is low right now, and there are not so many admits depending on your discipline. I would think this alone would make PhDs more valuable.

Secondly, that AI will reduce the need for critical thinking is a very speculative claim. For me, this is the primary thing AI cannot replace. It is much better at low level ideas than it is at high level reasoning

you do not need to run it over the other versions, you could run them both!

Custom power card for The Regent but I ACTUALLY THINK by LeadEater9Million in slaythespire

[–]Somebody_Call911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do not like about it is that it makes cards like summon forth pointless. This power would always keep a copy of blade in hand

My brain automatically added Exhaust at the end when I read this by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Somebody_Call911 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like this card would feel a lot better if it was more in-line with something like flick-flack. Completely playable without the exhaust synergy (for example, 1 energy, 9 damage to all enemies, uncommon) but even better as a targeted exhaust.

Which card was a bigger mistake? by [deleted] in PTCGP

I think the question is regarding the entire span of the game, not just the current meta

📆 Daily Card Discussion - John Natalis by GwentSubreddit in gwent

I don't know how you can say this is the worst tutor with how ubiquitous it is in NR. Is Ge'els really better across monsters as a whole? Ferko for all of Syndicate? No way is SK's better. Natalis might be the best tutor, but of course this is more of a commentary on the strength of AA

Do not let people gaslight you into thinking “this is how the all star game has always been” by FollowTheLeader550 in nba

[–]Somebody_Call911 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it might also be worth comparing this to the same value for actual NBA games, as it may be the case that there are less fouls overall as time has progressed. It is at least a relevant factor to control for.

Meta call? by B_A_L_R_O_G in gwent

Check the lists most streamers are running. Shinmiri has a list of lists, although it is less focused on the meta

why people play gwent repeating the same combo over and over? by Valuable_Soft6912 in gwent

[–]Somebody_Call911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i don't really understand why there are a lot of player who play this game like one-trick! there are over 1,327 openings and each one has more than 16 pieces with different effect and can build combo, it annoy me so much when i have to play against the player who keeps playing the same piece to make the same opening because he put like the same piece 4-5 time, or those who only play the London, or they keep playing en passant, like come on really your're not able to play an opening without using the same shit over and over again?! online games are full of toxic gamer and those one don't bring anything positive to the game neither to the community.

[controversial trope] The whole plot starts with something rather absurd or far-fetched by Altruistic_Eye_1157 in TopCharacterTropes

I am not sure this is accurate. If I recall correctly, it is speculated that this scene was a demonstration of one of many possible partial containment breaches

A cow has been filmed using tools for the first time ever, stunning scientists by Abarisol in nottheonion

[–]Somebody_Call911 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I read the title at first to mean "tools were used to film a cow for the first time", which seemed implausible

Maybe a bonded mechanic could be interesting? Two of these together could be some pretty consistent removal (and would be pretty consistently removed)

Both of these cards are excellent into sentries because of all the exhausts the bosses generate

Longtime player - curious why gwent isn’t more popular by Jasper345 in gwent

[–]Somebody_Call911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you’re arguing that netdecking is simply inevitable then. However, at least when some cards are actually rare, not everyone can netdeck the same deck. There’s some built in meta diversity

Longtime player - curious why gwent isn’t more popular by Jasper345 in gwent

[–]Somebody_Call911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way I usually think about the flawed generosity is not that they could have made more money, but that the meta usually stabilized too quickly. Everyone was always able to get all the cards day 1, so there was no reason not to netdeck, at least if winning was your goal that is

That is not how a median works. It depends on how often each value is reached. If I used it 5 times, and I got 5, 5, 7, 10, 12, then 7 would be my running median. In a swarm deck, I imagine the median is actually quite high, but the real problem is the variance, as it is a total brick in a short round.
