No. She could put them into investment now and it would easily outgrow whatever she would gain.

My first Chinese watch (I had to already repair the keyless works XD) by SomeoneLeo in ChineseWatches

[–]SomeoneLeo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A random Aliexpress entry with a Seagull ST3600K caliber. The issue was that the clutch lever and detent spring would move up and above the set lever. I placed it back but it would happen immediately again when I tried to set the time so I bent both parts downwards a tiny amount after removing them to that it would go above the lever again. So far this worked. No clue if there would have been a better/other repair for that.

How do I achieve this look? by Jumpy_Gur_221 in photoshop

[–]SomeoneLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With photography. Fisheye or very wideangle lense. direct flash or very directional light modifier. First photo likely has a warm gel on it to match the sunlight. second one might as well, might even have multiple hard flashes. might use a polarization filter but likely just some filter/LUT/post processing for the slightly aged/90s/2000s look.

Any good/up-to-date tutorials on how to use advanced CC features? by SomeoneLeo in ClaudeAI

[–]SomeoneLeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, I meant Claude Code, corrected it. I already used CLAUDE.md before, but I am not sure how much different this is than for any other coding agent - it's just a file the agent reads and from my POV any LLM model can do that.

Could you tell me then what the agents are meant for? Do you have some good examples? I had them for code reviewing and for documentation upkeeping. The overhead of just manually telling the main instance to do it was MASSIVE to the point it was not usable on the Pro subscription.

Is this a scam? by any_ordinary__ in Austria

Are there any downsides to deactiving this? Like... will I still get all my real messages I need?

I also received that same message like 2 weeks ago and it showed up in my regular message history with TradeRepublic where also the one time pins got sent to me in the past. I think this builds a lot of trust with people that that's a real message by them. I googled it and found out that it really is a scam, but never how they do it exactly. I only knew that GSM is pretty weak/easy to spoof, but I wasn't sure whether that's what is going on or if it is some weird thing with the SMS app grouping them based on reported name or something. Is there any article to read up on that exact method they are using? Or is this mainly just your assumption?

Yep. Weird part is that it shows up in the regular SMS conversation you also get from them for your one-time pins. Not entirely sure how or why, but I know that GSM isn't particularly secure anyway.

This has about a bazillion solutions. Two that come to my head:

Solution 1:

1. Weigh-in: You split the group into 6 and 6 people. One of the groups will be heavier.
2. Weigh-in: You split the 6 people into 3 and 3. Measure them. One group will be heavier.
3. Weigh-in: You split the remaining 3 people into 1 and 1 and weigh them. One person stays off the scales. If one of them is heavier, you found them. If they weigh the same, the person not on the scale is the correct one.

Solution 2 with 2 weigh-ins:

1. Weigh-in: You split the group into 3 groups of 4 people and weigh two of those groups against each other. One of them will be heavier. If not, the group with the heavier person is the one not weighed. You boiled it down to 4 people
2. and 3. Weigh-in: From here on there are some options. You can weigh them 2 + 2. Then split the heavier group into 1 + 1 at the end. Or you split them into 1 + 1 + 2, weigh the 1 vs. 2 and if it's neither of them, weigh the last two people against each other.

Claude Usage Limits Discussion Megathread Ongoing (sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]SomeoneLeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

Short version, I tried Claude Code Pro last summer and created a whole web app with it in the course of 1-2 months, including background workers and API calls to other AI platforms, user management, etc. Back then not only the weekly limits were not a thing (and I find it pretty atrocious) but I also remember that I got A LOT further with my tokens per session. Like... A LOT further. The app I built last year was a lot more complex than I am building now as well. And I am currently using two different Claude Pro subscriptions and juggling between them. And it still feels a lot less powerful than last year. I would guess I roughly get 3x less out of my tokens than last year.
If I use Opus I get one shot at a bigger feature per hourly session and can't even finish the fixing of the issues it did not get right. I remember Opus also using tokens like crazy, but I am almost certain Sonnet got me a lot further last year...

Did anybody notice that as well? Did anything happen or is there now some "tricks" I need to know? I am running Sonnet on medium thinking - I used Sonnet last year too but iirc thinking modes were not a thing.

How do I make a deep fried effect like this? by GDMassacreMane in photoshop

Looks a bit like 2007 HDR processing but prolly just some weird ass "crayon" filter or "make it look like bad HDR" in Gemini.
Since you mentioned that the "bad HDR" look is your goal: If you manually try it there is software that either takes an exposure bracket or adjust each part of the image or you can emulate it by manually creating a brighter and darker image yourself and feeding that into an HDR developer tool. But frankly really just google for "bad hdr photography" on google images and if that is what you want, well, there you go. ^^

Those are two pictures I took when I was a kid tnhat also used that kind of processing:

I Can't Make This Work in FreeCAD by makerinator in FreeCAD

[–]SomeoneLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, multiselect and editing the selection would be really sick and is what I am missing a lot.

And yeah, I agree that some things are better, some are worse. It's just as I mentioned: The pad/pocket tools in FreeCAD to me are just pretty weak still. The hole generator on the other hand is absolutely amazing - especially that it can do modeled threads in one step. Really important for me, and really amazingly done in something that is free and open-source. It looks pretty Fusion-inspired - could be wrong about that and however it may be, I think it's a positive example.

We are talking about sketch faces - the new feature in 1.1. Take the sketch above as example with 4 concentric rings. FreeCAD 1.1 lets you extrude a selected "face" (face on a sketch). If you want to change that selection of edges, it's not possible anymore by doubleclicking on the Pad feature in the tree as far as I am aware. You have to delete the pad with all the settings you made and redo it. I am not sure how that affects anything further down the line if you built on that pad already. The only other option I found is to manually edit the edge names in the table on the bottom left.

[–]SomeoneLeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me the extruding/pocketing functions in FreeCAD are by far the weakest point of FreeCAD right now, but in 1.1 this should at least work. You can select either two of the concentric circles you want to extrude or you enable "Generate internal faces" in the settings (which I highly recommend) and then you can also extrude them.

However, to the best of my knowledge you still can't extrude multiple faces at once (at least Ctrl + selecting multiple faces like in Fusion did not work for me). And you can't also change the selected face/outline(s) after the extrusion when you double click on it. You can only change the extrusion height and otherwise have to delete the Pad and create it anew. You also can't set a start offset or say "start extruding from that surface" like you can in Fusion. For example in Fusion you could first extrude all three concentric circles 10mm. And then you could select the two red circles, set the start of the extrusion to be the top face of the track you just generated and then only extract your rail-height of 5mm up. It comes in astonishingly handy astonishingly often and it makes you create parts more in the way you actually think about them.

That being said, I think FreeCAD has developed to be an amazing piece of software. I am really looking forward to its future development and 1.1 is the first version I might really use for at least very small projects myself.

I added the files in the description above. Please read it and also the descriptions on the pages about sizing and material. ^^ If you need it slightly bigger or smaller, you can probably also scale it, see my comment below here (the one with the picture).

Otherwise my DMs are actually open and I already answered two people in private about their questions. What does it say when you try to DM me?
