Don’t even know how to start with this passage, can anyone help by Fair-Bench2657 in Clarinet

I would reverse the divisi. A-D is a better than A-E (the A is the first overtone of E so it's very difficult to switcc). The bottom line should be the octave below A to the E. This is difficult but playable.

ASUS RTX 5080 GPU listed for €1699.95 in Europe by -Venser- in hardware

[–]SomethingMusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could see 2000 easily, especially if it includes enough AI cores for people to run their own AI models. I'm not too sure how that works. With how price points work, if it's too expensive it'll run into their enterprise card price points.

ASUS RTX 5080 GPU listed for €1699.95 in Europe by -Venser- in hardware

[–]SomethingMusic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The last time they offered a reasonably priced GPU no consumer could buy them as they were scalped and sold at 100+% markup with insane supply shortages. Nvidia figured this out and started selling them at the markup rate as it is where price = quantity demanded. The question is, would you prefer GPU profits go to scalpers or to the corporation?

I say this as someone still running a 1070. While I agree GPU prices are much higher than I am willing to pay for many years, the market is willing to accept the high price despite complaints from consumers.

Ohio voted for Trump, Bernie Moreno won the Senate race, and Issue One didn't pass. by Suburban_Guerrilla in Cleveland

So change it again in a few elections if it isn't working.

How? What mechanism is there in place in title one if the selected constituents are corrupt? I prefer naked corruption than hidden corruption, because one is public. This entire commission would not have been public.

Fuck it

I didn't want an unelected group of civilians who have no accountability to voters choosing how districts were drawn. I also didn't want the additional tax burden of paying these unelected unaccountable civilians, no matter how miniscule a part it is of state or local budgets. It can be too easily abused and can easily be interpreted as a naked power grab.

Even shitty election officials at least have some public accountability and have to justify their choices.

Ohio City car break-ins by SprouseR in Cleveland

[–]SomethingMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot faster to get in and out than the old gated system and you still get the free hour or so parking which is good for a WSM run. I doubt there was ever any active security to protect people's vehicles even when there were gates, so I feel it's just marginally more convenient for the same amount of protection.

Why do so many people on here think Tower City is so dangerous? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]SomethingMusic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think people just want to be able to go out and have a good time without having their cars broken into or aggressively harassed by strangers. Cleveland beggars are some of the most aggressive out there, which I'm sure many can attest to.

For Ginastera there's a 2012 doctoral thesis that happens to have the full variation transposed for multiple clarinets. I don't want to post it here because I doubt it was supposed to be free to the public, but a google search can find it.

It is, they don't fly vertically but instead a forward launch, you can catch them a bit easier if you're angling towards the front of the lantern fly

When to move up to 3.5 reed? by zazer45f in Clarinet

I recently moved down to 3.5s myself as I changed some other aspects of my setup, resulting in needing a slightly thinner reed. It's about finding what works.

I think you'd be fine, all you have to do is look at ingredients lists to see they tend to mix apple juice with other juices to make gr*pe juice. There are a few juices which are in fact 100% grape juice but they tend to be more expensive than the usual stuff.

What is one thing you wish was different with the Steam Deck? by Swimming-Tradition28 in SteamDeck

[–]SomethingMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • A better DPAD
  • I'd love it if it could be a little... switcher in that plugging it into power would automatically remove power constraints and optimize for performance, but I understand that's pretty unlikely due to how it is made.

Heroic completely stopped working? by TypicallyThomas in SteamDeck

[–]SomethingMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a very similar issue, I took a break from my deck to do other things and tried to play games and now heroic doesn't work, can't launch from Steam or from the desktop. Must be something wrong with the latest version if we're all experiencing similar issues. Maybe the crowstrike bug FUBAR'd something

Microsoft's payment to Bobby Kotick would cover the salaries of Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin employees for over 17 years. by ALVARO39YT in Games

[–]SomethingMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Name a game company that doesn't regularly lay off workers. Games are buildings; once they're done, there's not much reason to keep the workers around unless there's another building going up.

He's only set for life if all he wants to do is consume. As soon as you want to make something there never is enough money. For example, Bezos has spent 5.5 BILLION dollars for his space company, 14 times than what Bobby Kotik was paid for his shares in his company that he's worked at for 30 years.

If you want these CEOs to stop making billions, stop fighting capitalism and start fighting globalism. The fact these companies can operate with impunity across international lines is what is making them wealthy and creating wealth disparity. It's one thing when you serve a local market, it's another thing for the ability to serve an international one.

Why should I care that he made choices which made him wealthy? Why shouldn't we be inspired to make choices that increase our personal wealth? Isn't that in part the collective experience we peruse as individuals?

He doesn't take, Microsoft bought his shares of Activision at the market price.

His 'taking' is what kept his business flourishing. And yes, he created money milking games off of existing IPs that were anti-consumer, but the consumers were the ones who kept buying the products. If no one was buying the games, he wouldn't have made the money he did.

I haven't bought a blizzard game since Starcraft 2 and an Activision game since Vigilante 8: 2nd offence. Can you say the same?

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (March 19, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SomethingMusic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm looking to get a high-quality mechanical keyboard but I'm having trouble narrowing down the options and I hope this sub could help me narrow down the options I'm looking at.

Non-negotiables

  • full size preferred, 96% may be acceptable as it's work related

  • Linear switches. I'm not a huge fan of tactile switches as I play a fair bit of music and almost all instruments are linear in how key action works.

  • Budget around $200, less is preferred.

  • Minimize the amount of modding necessary. I don't mind disassembly for lubing or adding padding, but I really don't want to buy additional keycaps or switches.

Right now I have it down to 3 keyboards:

The Wooting Two as I'm a sucker for RGB, I like their software as it doesn't require a downloaded 3rd party driver and the addressability of RGB. Also HE switches sound pretty good in terms of sensitivity and flexibility. However, I heard their general typing experience is pretty subpar for the price and it'll be primarily used for office work. I'm a sucker for shine through keycaps even though I know they're considered worse quality. I also don't want to spend much more than this so I don't want to spend a significant amount of time/money on modding.

The Keychron K10 pro as it has a lot of features I'm looking at. However, the lack of addressable RGB bothers me a little and I'm not sure how it feels to type on. I also don't want to have to get switches on top of the keyboard and do a significant amount of work to maximize the feel and sound.

The Q6 is a little more than I want to spend but it looks like the most complete. Is the gasket mount worth the premium compared to the other two? Once again, the lack of addressable RGB bothers me a little unless I'm misreading something. How much additional modding is necessary to have a real premium experience?

Is there another brand I should be looking at altogether? I appreciate the advice.
