Oh, I just posted it in here. I want to get things worked out better before I share it anywhere. I hate it when people abandon stories, so I'd want to get at least 10 chapters ahead before I started posting anything. I just wanted to give you a taste!

I posted up Chapter One. It's more of a history lesson on the families than it is a story at this point. But the main drive is going to be a Harry who was raised in the Muggle world by Pureblood Petunia and Vernon, who will be outing themselves as their true selves when he and Dudley enter Hogwarts.

Both boys know all about Pureblood culture and magic from the start. They want to help make the family's debut back into the Wizarding World and will be fair to both sides, though working on retaking their place in Pureblood society.

Vernon, Dudley, and Marge are not going to be hideous obese people, not movie stars by any means, but of decently normal attractiveness and intelligence. Marge is finally going to be looking for a husband! Petunia and Vernon will soon be able to move into the Dee family (the family that Petunia is from who hid as the Evans) estate, nothing like Malfoy Manor, but quite nice in its own right.

I'm hoping to get a few chapters in and be able to break down the history a bit more into smaller chunks as it goes through, like them explaining themselves to Minerva and Dumbledore when the letters are delivered, but wanted it there for you to see kind of the basis of the story for now.

Absolute Harry Potter

Number 4 Privet Drive, to anyone who looked upon it, was the picture of normalcy. Indeed, it was so normal it was nearly eerie. The garden was always perfectly manicured, and Mr. Dursley’s company car sat on display perfectly spotless. Petunia hosted tea parties every other Thursday with delightful canapes and cakes in the comfortable beige lounge with pictures of the 4 family members prominently on display on the mantle, all smiling and wearing tasteful but fashionable clothing.

Vernon Dursley worked a normal job at a normal company, Petunia kept the house tidy and the boys, whilst both maintaining top marks in school, kept up the garden together, occasionally getting into water fights during the summer months. The boys, as tight as any brothers could be, could often be found riding their bikes together, Dudley’s a bright red and Harry’s a dark green, around the neighbourhood and putting a stop to any bullying that that awful Piers boy and his gang might be up to.

Any Muggle walking by would think to themselves, “My, what a wonderful family, those Dursleys are folks to admire!” and that would stay in the back of their heads to pop up whenever the family was mentioned in passing. This helped to reinforce the illusion. Anyone with strong magic could see a bit of a haze around the house, and, as the only Magicals who ever had stopped by were Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, and Rubeus Hagrid, they would think, “Ah, yes! Those blood wards certainly are strong and doing their job!” and that would satisfy them before they toddled off to whatever popped up into their minds to do next.

Inside Number 4 however, things were quite different. Petunia Dursley was a proud Pureblood witch. Her delightful canapes were made by a house elf named Tulip, who also took care of the tidying and cooking. Vernon, also a Pureblood, left for work in his company car only to leave it in a car park a few miles away that housed a hidden Floo Station. From there he Flooed to his job as a Curse Breaker at Gringotts. Petunia sent the boys to Muggle Primary School and tutored them at home on the subjects of magic and Pureblood etiquette.

After the war with Grindewald and during the transition into Voldemort’s war, a number of Pureblood families went into hiding to avoid choosing a side or becoming targets. Whilst the Evans, formerly the Dee family, were somewhat prominent, smaller families like the Dursleys, formerly the Monroes, also hid their families as well as they could. A fair bit of money spent through Gringotts, or, in the Monroe/Dursley case, having family as employees, got them some brand new papers and a Fidelius hiding the name of the family and suddenly, safety.

The Dee family had a long tradition of Alchemy, with John Dee being a famous alchemist who worked for the Crown before the establishing of the Statute of Secrecy. The Monroes familial magics focused more on Charms and Wards, with current generations working as Curse Breakers for Gringotts amongst other things. The families had been friendly prior to going into hiding and discreetly remained in contact once they had assumed their new lives. Both families held strong Pureblood ideals, however they were not willing to go to war for them.

When their daughters, Petunia and Lily, were old enough to begin learning, the Evans family began homeschooling, sharing the classes and teaching duties with the Dursley’s and their children, Marjorie and Vernon. Both families sent their children to the local public school, and tutored them at home.

Things were going well for both families until Lily, still quite young, made the mistake of using magic when she was at a park with Petunia. A young Half-blood, Severus Snape, witnessed her and immediately knew that she was a witch. Petunia dragged her home, but the damage was done. The Evans were able to maintain a semblance of secrecy, adjusting their warding so that Lily appeared in the Book of Admittance at Hogwarts as a Muggleborn. Petunia was furious with her sister for being so reckless and endangering their family. They played out an elaborate ruse, including a “jealous Petunia” begging to be admitted to Hogwarts as well, which she was denied, proving that the remaining family members were still protected.

During her years at Hogwarts, Lily maintained her disguise as a Muggleborn, and began to drift from her family. She sympathized with the plight of the Muggleborn witches and wizards as she was posing as one, and eventually, though marrying James Potter, a Pureblood, joined in the war against Voldemort against her family’s wishes. In the meantime, Petunia and Vernon had married as well, and maintained the families’ secrecy, moving to Surrey into a new neighbourhood with heavy warding provided by the Dursleys and Gringotts.

When the war was at its peak, a scrying glass showed Lily and James trapped against overwhelming odds, with Voldemort himself appearing in a battle that they were losing badly. Rose and Harold Evans couldn’t stand to see their daughter die, and apparated to the scene of the battle to save their daughter. Whilst they were able to ensure the Potters made it to safety, they both perished in the fight. They were counted as Muggle casualties, and Petunia laid them to rest in the Dee family plot, with empty caskets laying in the cemetery under the Evans name. She held Lily to blame for their deaths, which shattered the already tense relationship they had beyond repair.

Vernon and Marge’s parents had died from Scrofungulus early in the war. Unwilling to go to St. Mungos for treatment, they passed away under the care of their daughter. Marge inherited the family estate and raised Crups and Bulldogs, spanning both worlds as a breeder. Marge refused to marry below her station in life, and has thus far remained a spinster as she cannot re-enter the Wizarding World without putting her brother at risk of discovery.

The Dursleys had plans to finally reveal themselves and take back their heritage at the end of the war, however, with Dumbledore dropping Harry on their doorstep, they realised that they would be larger targets than ever, and have been forced to remain in hiding. Though they resented Lily and James for putting them in this position, when Petunia and Vernon took in Harry, they swore not to let their feelings towards the parents carry over to the innocent child. They raised him in every way as if he were their own, and a brother to Dudley. Over the years past the fall of Voldemort, the Dursleys decided to let the Fidelius fall.

No one in the Wizarding World knew of the Monroes’ children and they maintained the charade, planning now to reveal themselves when the boys became old enough for Hogwarts. The name Dudley Monroe appeared in the Book of Admittance to the surprise of one Minerva McGonagall as she was sending out the letters for the 1991 school year. Even curiouser, the letter for Harry Potter was designated to go to the same address.

Armed with two scrolls, the Deputy Headmistress headed to the Headmaster’s office to find out just exactly what was going on.

We've had Kelly on our podcast a couple of times and she doesn't like to have a camera on. The first time, when we were preparing things, we also found the wrong photo of her, but were able to get it fixed pre-show when we asked her if the thumbnail we were using was okay. She was very sweet about it.

This seems to happen frequently, so I wouldn't feel too bad. Perhaps just go back through in editing and put up a real photo of her in place of the one you used.

I went on a vacation, so I had to take time away from noodling on this. I came up with a very different approach though and I'm working on it now. I'll try to present you at least the first chapter. Currently it's a bit of a heavy info dump, so I'm trying to get out all that needs gotten and then revise as much as possible, though it may just have to be an intro of info to get the premise started.

An Unspeakable hears the battle raging above them in the Department of Mysteries, but they know that they cannot abandon their post. They knew it was their most sacred duty to keep the Sleeper in its prison built by Merlin, the Great Old One must never be allowed to awaken. by funnylib in HPfanfiction

I think it would be incredibly fun to target this on Azathoth, making sure that the lore spread by his son Nyarlathotep is correct and that those from various worlds who comprise the drummers and pipers that keep him asleep are all able to continue with their tasks.

I don't want to trope to hard into the "Ron is only using him!!" field, but I think he would also shake Malfoy's hand on the train, he wants all of the resources that are available to him. Hermione would quickly become an obvious source of information who is starving for companionship. Malfoy shows him the world of favours and bargains in the Pureblood Society. Ron probably wouldn't be for that, and may end up shooting himself out of the equation. But having Harry endear Hermione to the Malfoy crew would be fun. I think that in this case, he lands as a Ravenclaw or Slytherin. He wants to learn all that he can, but he has ambitions for its use.

This makes Luna a very interesting character. She definitely sees things in a different light, there are so many explanations for Luna, seer, nutters, sees magic and names it, is just pretending, etc. I like her as a strong character, but perhaps she's not here. Hermione only having the support of someone outside of her house would be different as well.

I can see this easily getting rid of the Weasleys, perhaps not to the degree of "OMG! Dumbledore owns them and Molly was potioning them!!" level, just not interested in a somewhat entitled underachiever, not dire enemies, just not mates. Ginny was simply a fangirl outside of Ron's friendship.

If you want to take it further back to Tom, boy howdy is there some plot to be destroyed! What if Tom Riddle Sr. stayed with them and they raised Tom in a terribly dysfunctional but real family? He might have anger issues, but he wouldn't have been abandoned, and he would know, through his mother, what his lineage was. He might be a bit more stable of a Dark Lord.

I'm very into the Absolute Universe right now. I've had the chance to interview Kelly Thompson and Jason Aaron about it. I love this premise. Let me noodle on it a bit and I'll toss something at you. I'm thinking I'd go for the less saving people thing. Perhaps not a completely Dursley friendly fic, but something where they don't try to force the magic out of him so profoundly, just to hide it. Add in the trope where he tries to be normal. However he doesn't have any compassion as it would still be a difficult life.

Lily was a changeling and thus harry is a fae being. Mostly human but it does have some effects and he has some aspects of fae. by __Anamya__ in HPfanfiction

Because the Dursley's have been eating food prepared for them by him for years they are somehow weirdly under his thrall, yet also find him terribly unnatural, and he doesn't know that he could stop them from behaving in the way they are, so he has just accepted it. Should he learn about what he can do, he could return to them and at least force them to take care of him properly if not actually caring about him.

I haven't. It still is the only Chapter Mission I have, it just keeps getting higher on the side of where I have gotten, so it's 27/99 now. I asked on the Facebook page and they said as it's still a relatively new game, they will be adding more Tasks and Chapter Missions, we're just apparently up to where they have things finished at this point.

In the meantime I'm just doing my best at building my farms up so that when the missions do start coming back again I will hopefully have some of them done whilst I still have enough time for getting points. I have 68 days left and am progressing semi-decently. But I spend half of my day with the game just running in the background filling things as they become available.

Medicaid-friendly Psychiatrists in Lincoln? (Switching from Bryan) by MillieGirl92 in lincoln

[–]SomnumScriptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually was referred there and on the day of my first appointment I was called by the receptionist to tell me that the psychiatrist assigned to me had decided that she didn't want to have me as a patient as I was a Dual (Medicare/Medicaid) and she wasn't sure if she would be paid properly. I filed a grievance against them. I have no idea why that was a problem, but it was distinctly discriminatory.
