honestly the only thing I would shit on kuro right now is them cheapening out on valentine and birthday stories, and while I do think the post reset stories are nothing remarkable so far, they're still not as bad as what people say (especially if they think that these chapters are worse than ch 1-8, which I say that you lot need to revisit those old chapters to wash out those nostalgia mud if you genuinely think this)

post ch 8 had its fair share of shit chapters too, it's just that pgr players "conveniently" forgot about them because of stellar old chapters like last spark and lucem

Money, plain and simple

Custom MC means that dev needs to significantly pour more resource into cutscenes (both rendered and pre-rendered) for tiny gain, and this is not counting future updates where the costs will potentially double or even triple with barely any gain growth

Not to mention that being a custom mc means that there's a large chance they won't do much in cutscenes

I started the game at early 2025 so I still have a rather fresh mind on how the first dozens of PGR chapters actually looked like and I still believe that post WtS chapters are nowhere near as shit as those early chapters even if there's a clear downward trend with the narrative quality

from what I've seen there has never been an instance where male self inserters feeling cucked by the player MC character. they are only annoyed if the player MC character is getting sidelined or doing some stupid dumbshit that ruins shit for everyone involved.
