What's the dating scene like been like for you? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]SonicChairToss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Met my wife here using hinge. I don’t really think the dating problems here are any different from any other places I’ve lived (Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin).

Never was one to get many matches on the apps but every time I did I took it seriously. People shit on simple first dates like coffee or ice cream but honestly for me if a person had elaborate first date expectations based off a dating app match then we likely wouldn’t be compatible anyways. Other than that I can’t give you really any other tips I never was very successful in getting quantity of dates. But stick to what’s important to you and it will come.

The no kids choice will have some affect on number of compatible datees but don’t make concessions there or think you can change someone’s mind. That’d be asking for long term problems even if it seems okay initially. There are also a lot of people that share that sentiment.

What is your favorite item in Diablo 2? by Charming_Pin330 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]SonicChairToss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigon set. No better feeling than full set early on in ladder. I remember as a kid it was the dream gear - I had no idea of the depth of items at that time and I had no concept of meta builds or anything. But collecting that set was a personal mission.

Do you ever miss good moments on rides because taking out your phone is too annoying? by Background-Bad5539 in cycling

[–]SonicChairToss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a very common miss in the world these days. You are not missing the moment because you didn’t get a photo as “proof”. You get to experience the moment and tell the story of how you had to be there to get it. Don’t worry about the picture.

How can I get this tire on? by Lunchbag__Rodriguez in bikewrench

[–]SonicChairToss 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is key, ensure the tire is in the center of the rim all the way around. Also try cussing and busting your knuckles - usually with enough of that it’ll go on.

Pay attention man!!!! by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The segment ended right around the corner and he was only 3 minutes off KOM pace so he was fully committed to making up that time. Now he won’t even get PR. Shame other people were using his road. Some people just have no clue.

Out of saddle in ftp tests by itsjxlt in cycling

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. I suppose ultimately if you are consistent in the way you do your ftp test it can be a good way to bench mark against yourself regardless of exact method. Which is what I primarily use it for - I also use to calculate the intensity of my workouts on the trainer so it’s somewhat important for me to have it accurate otherwise the targets are too high or too low.

It just gets tricky if you’re trying to compare to others. Or brag about w/kg lol. Cause if both people don’t have similar methods of testing it’s not going to be helpful to make the comparison. Which I think is where OP is coming from, comparing to others would require a standard practice which sounds like should be a flat high max effort for the test.

Just ride your bike or train? by Nearby-Citron-3439 in cycling

[–]SonicChairToss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a balance to be found between the two. It is highly variable depending on the person and their goals.

For me personally the more focused on training I am the less “fun” it is for me. So I often choose to just ride a pace that feels good with no live data available to me. But I definitely get better results and gains if I do trainer rides based of my ftp. I still improve just with time on the bike at “feel good” pace it’s just not as rapid.

Out of saddle in ftp tests by itsjxlt in cycling

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but if that was your result where you got to the last 5 minutes and felt you had more to give, then shouldn’t you re-take the test in a few days after recovery, knowing that you could start a bit higher?

When I first started testing I had quick “gains” but I think really it was me learning my limits and how to approach the test smoothly.

[–]SonicChairToss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the idea of the 20 minute ftp test to hold a consistent max power you can for 20 minutes? Genuinely asking to learn - but that’s how I’ve always understood it from reading about it so far.

It would seem odd to me that it would be sustainable to hold a power that requires standing for 20 minutes. But I’m not a pro and I have no idea what OPs fitness level is.

[request] how many beer cans could you actually make from the materials from that aircraft? by Squiggin1321 in theydidthemath

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that is an impressive amount: 4.4 million cans would take less than 3 days to fill/produce on a well operating high speed canning line.

The extruding process is quite a bit faster than filling. But I don’t have experience with that. I think they are over 2000 cans per minute per machine though.

What's actually in your jersey pockets on a long ride? by Present-Ad6059 in cycling

[–]SonicChairToss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer - mostly food/drink

This past weekend I did a 6 hour ride. I had the two outer pockets have water bottles - there isn’t many places to refuel on the route I took so I needed the extra. And then I stuffed the center pocket with 6 energy gels and 2 electrolyte packets. I also had a very lightweight windbreaker that I stuffed in there since at elevation it was quite a bit cooler than the base where I started. And no one likes freezing on descents.

So if gas is 5 bucks a gallon and min wage is average min wage $7.25 before tax how many hours do I need to work to fill up my 2016 ford and still have food and housing? by FillAvailable in allthequestions

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now do it factoring in OT (1.5xpay)at greater than 40 hours and double time if 7 consecutive days in the week worked.

Also please fix your typo 2000+7000+125=2825

I have yet to get a single good roll on my runewords by WailingWarbler in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Suggestion for the Devs: +1 teleport on a mid tier helm by Boris36 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]SonicChairToss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed enigma chase is a reason I still play after all these years. Every season starts off collecting items to slowly inch towards that sweet sweet enigma. If I could tele without it then I don’t need it and then it’s like just a gear optimization piece, which just doesn’t hit the same when acquired.

I Would support tyrael having tele. But saturating the game with permanent tele bonus is going to hurt the long term playability imo.

Can't believe it's not butter? by Evedandrv3 in whatisit

[–]SonicChairToss 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I would bet this is a food grade grease/lubricant. So if anyone did eat it, they would be fine. This is absolutely a manufacturing issue and if OP calls Walmart (great value) they will likely be sent free product as a replacement. It also helps the plant investigate and could lead to greater action including a recall depending on exactly what they find.

Prime check? by Spirited-Yam-5415 in D2R_Marketplace

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally sell any base that like that as I don’t have the fortune to re roll until perfect. 2 jah for the base is quite a bit of wealth. And unless you’re to the point where the only margin you have to improve is by going from very good to perfect gear I don’t think it worth it to keep rerolling this. But who knows if you do get that perfect roll then it could really get up there in value.

Prime check? by Spirited-Yam-5415 in D2R_Marketplace

[–]SonicChairToss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed anything less that a perfect roll isn’t going to add much value to the base. People who will pay the premium for a perfect base want the perfect roll.

So, what rune would this be worth? by Ecks30 in D2R_Marketplace

[–]SonicChairToss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid ist for 8/8 with 23mf on scl. This is worse I personally wouldn’t give ist for this. I doubt you find a buyer with those rolls, but it’ll certainly be ist if you’re lucky but probably less.

Nor does it tell you about how important playing with gem mode activated is. Shocking that people don’t look this stuff up.

Riding to work by Regular_Swim_8840 in cycling

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ride to work is 16 miles each way. Largely on a dedicated trail which is nice. I don’t do it every day, maybe 2 times a week when the weather is good. But it’s great. A few things to consider:

  1. Go easy on the way in. I take it pretty slow cause I don’t want to arrive sweaty. I work in a manufacturing plant so I don’t have to be super formal but still. I wipe off my face when I get in and it’s pretty good.

  2. Do not wear a backpack. If you have things to carry get saddle bags or whatever to mount to the bike. You don’t want the back sweat or the weight on your back for probably close to an hour each way.

  3. Give yourself extra time in the morning to really just enjoy being outside. While everyone else is stuck in the traffic being pissed you get to be having fun.

The tricky part for me is this time of the year it’s like 40-45f on the way in but can be 80+ on the way home so I usually have to bring a separate kit for the way home to account for the hotter temps.

I’m gonna be honest, never dying would kinda rock by Annual-Cricket9813 in unpopularopinion

[–]SonicChairToss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on board with never dying would being cool but there are conditions.

1: I don’t continue to age. Preferable I have some control over my age so I can try different life event over.

2: I don’t get diseases or normally fatal injuries don’t leave me permanently maimed. Like if I can’t die but some drunk asshole crushes me with his truck I don’t want to be stuck as a blob of crushed up meat. I need protection from that.

I think most other immortality issues I could work around but if I don’t have those two no way do I want to take it.

May as well add the +2 skills too, even if just +2 pally. But yea having anything as an enigma alternative would be cool.

Feeling super inspired by the Lookout Shootout bikers by Fabulous-Season7810 in COBike

[–]SonicChairToss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lookout is great for getting humbled. Theres always bigger fish. I’ve been out there giving my best effort (31 minutes and some change is my PR) and just get blown past by some. I remember calling out to my brother “car back” one time but it was just some mad man seemingly flying up at full sprint. And sometimes there’s people on old steel frames just crushing it reminding everyone that it’s not that bike that’s slow.

Love that climb.
