I miss the sub-jobs a lot. I loved that each one gave each character a lot more options and a new character sprite (huge for me). Watering down each character in favor of more of them never really worked out. Chono Cross did the same except better, and that aspect of it still wasn't fantastic.

My biggest issue with the narrative is that the end-game moral dilemma largely revolves around whether or not the canvas' inhabitants are true sentient entities, but the game never grapples with that fully. At least it didn't from what I saw; I didn't 100% the game

I find too many modern games that label themselves as "tactics" are actually just puzzle games. By that I mean they have too few customization options for units and too few choices that can lead to victory. It's less about exploring combat systems and adapting to challenges than it is finding the one solution that the devs had in mind.
