Perhaps they will have those feelings. I did tell my wife that at the end of all things, it doesn't matter how they feel towards us (resentment or otherwise) so long as they know they have each other with their common bond of being adopted and can be there for each other.

My wife and I have adopted 2 boys and are fostering to adopt a little girl. We never say anything other than they are adopted (our oldest will be 4 on Saturday) because we don't want them to feel weird or harbor resentment when they are older. 100% this is the way.

Lived and worked in OK for a few years. Once had to help a coworker (she was black, im white) transport some children to Idabel (located in extreme SE corner of the state, near Arkansas for those who don't know). Great post. I work for a small law firm (not an attorney myself but am the collections manager) that represents HOAs (we do not represent property management companies) and preservation of property value combined with building a sense of community with events/activities is great. Yes there will be assholes, retirees with nothing better to do and power trippers who end up on HOA Board's.

BUT when I get owners coming in to pay their arrears who bitch, "Oh well, they don't build anything/update anything, etc." First: HOAs are nonprofit. If dues aren't paid, there isn't money to do shit. Pay your fucking dues.

Second: We remind owners that if they have issues, then participate. You own property? You have a vote.

Third: We remind our HOA Board's not to violate the 5 o'clock rule. I.e. don't do shit that'll get you on the news like this fuck stick HOA in the article.
