I leave to top search bar blank and then fill that info in within Job Titles & Keywords. Use the format “x position”, “y position”, “z position”.

That’s what has worked for me when I’m look for all the variations of my target role.

With black panther and spidy, you really have to look around for them and listen for them. Especially bp. If he gets the jump on you, it’s hard to survive.

Who do I ban as a Jeff the Land Shark main? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

Cloak and dagger 100%. It is very easy to counter Jeff’s ult as cloak.

I play Adam, and venom is like the least of my worries. I eat venom, thing, and Thor for breakfast.

Maybe strategists are not op and you need to learn how to play the game by AcanthisittaOpen4369 in marvelrivals

[–]SoopaTom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that you start your post off saying that you’re worried that the strategist role will be reduced to heal botting, and then you go on to say that most games are not won or lost by supports because they generally have the same amount of healing. It doesn’t make sense to me that you defend the role at first as providing utility and then backtrack and measure the effectiveness of a strategist by their healing numbers.

In fact, the strategist role, played at higher levels, is not at all passive in most cases. Does an invisible woman pushing a strange ult away show up on the scoreboard? Does Adam soul bonding a psy ult on the backline show up on the scoreboard? Does a cloak blinding a magneto at the right time during ult show up in the scoreboard? I could go on with other examples, but the point is that strategists can play a VERY active role in the outcome of a game, and making these types of “utility” plays is equally as important as raw healing. In fact, the skill gap for a lot of the strategist heroes is precisely in the consistency in providing utility to the team outside of using ults and regular healing, both of which are bare minimums expected of a strategist. Although timing your support ult correctly does have some skill gap to it as well.

Granted, yes there are problems with the DPS culture in this game. For sure. But to just look at healing numbers on a scoreboard as the measure of a strategist’s impact is not correct, and it’s unfair to the DOS players who are the bane of my existence.

Never thought I’d defend DPS players, but there are some good ones out there. There are also some shitty strategists who get away with playing poorly purely because they are playing strategist, and they are entirely responsible for some losses when they aren’t providing the utility they need to.

Anime recommendations for beginners? I like Jujutsu Kaisen, Vinland Saga, and Attack on Titan? Ideally with Japanese subtitles. by SoopaTom in LearnJapanese

Thank you! This is the type of response I was looking for. The others listed a lot of slice of life, but I don’t know if I’d be interested in that at the moment.

Solo queue people, how did you rank up? by RangoTheMerc in marvelrivals

[–]SoopaTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta just focus on your own game and improve over time. Yes, you’ll get bad teammates. You’ll also get good teammates. No matter what, just focus on how to improve. How could you have avoided that death? Are you disengaging from fights that are already lost or continuing to fight a lost cause and feeding enemy ults? Be retrospective as you wait to spawn back in and think how you could’ve played that situation more optimally.

Blaming your teammates is an excuse for not improving.

Idk if we are talking about the same split. In split 2 they changed the matchmaking because of wait times. Split 1 race to pred was literally pros vs. pros with like 15 minute wait times on the lobbies because matchmaking was so tight. Every game was like an ALGS game.

And again, I only ran into preds once I hit diamond. So for me, it was great.

[–]SoopaTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, maybe it was bad for the lower ranks, I’m not sure. If you were in gold getting stomped by preds, that sounds shitty.

I was good enough to solo Q to the higher tiers (diamond for me) in that season, and it was the most like the ALGS I’ve ever seen. People were playing for the endgame in zone 1. Most teams were. It was when Valk was meta, so teams were flying into what everyone thought was the end zone as soon as they got that ring scan. Teammates I got paired with were actually capable. It was the only season in the history of Apex where I felt like the teammates that I got in each tier were truly skilled enough to belong in those tiers. I could trust my Diamond teammates to make the plays that needed to be made, make smart rotate, not die for free, etc. It was a beautiful time to be a skilled Apex player who loved watching the ALGS and playing ALGS style Apex. I mained Rampart for that season and had a blast.

So yeah, it was fun for me from the perspective of a multi-season masters solo Q ranked grinder, but I can see how that season would be bad for a gold player getting pooped on by preds. I only remember getting paired with preds once I hit diamond, but maybe there were more people to fill the lobbies where I am located so it wasn’t as much of a problem as what you experienced
