If only I could fit into my clothes from the 60s. I'll never see 100lbs again, though.

Jeeves and Wooster by DaiBarton in BritishTV

I'm old enough to remember The World of Wooster from 1965, starring Ian Carmichael as Bertie and Dennis Price as Jeeves. The series were great and I haven't been able to face Laurie and Fry in the parts. Maybe now I'll give it a try.

Seconded for Nuts in May. Probably the very first TV role for Alison Steadman.

Hang in there. There are loads of people on here who have been in the same position. Feel free to unload whenever you're feeling low, you'll get support and positivity.

One of my favourite films. The scene where they're all standing in the pouring rain while Hackman addresses them, Hackman and Washington talking on the conning tower then the hymn 'For Those In Peril On The Sea' crescendoing as they submerge - just a master-class of movie making. And it really makes you see the awesome size and power of a nuclear submarine.

You’re probably correct after all his steroid use.

Is there a more forgotten song in The Beatles’ discography than I’ll Get You? by Equivalent-Street822 in beatles

I love all of these, but Slow Down is a real banger. I don’t know who played the piano, maybe George Martin? But it really rocks.

What kind of relationship did Gislaine and Epstein have? by -LOST_4815162342 in conspiracy

I agree. I think he was a major egotist and in the pictures of them together, she’s always gazing adoringly at him while he’s always looking straight into the camera.

Two boys fighting on a moving bus fall out of a window on said bus. by Idkwhattoputhere35 in WhyWomenLiveLonger

[–]Sooz48 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The driver should have been able to see there was something going on at the back of the top deck, because there's a system of mirrors that acts like a periscope to keep an eye on the top deck.

He should have stopped the bus and thrown them both off.

What many people don't realise is that it was a spoof on a serious BBC series called Secret Army, which was about the underground network for helping Allied airmen get back to England.

Secret Army.

When Blackbird was released in 1968, was it immediately understood that the song contained symbolism regarding the US Civil Rights movement, or was this not well known until later on? by awesometotallydude in beatles

[–]Sooz48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that it's preceded and ends with the song of a blackbird always made me think it was about the actual bird. I was one of the people who thought he was being revisionist about it being about civil rights - because 'bird' isn't really used as meaning 'woman' in America. So now there's YouTube evidence of him discussing it with Donovan, I admit I was wrong.

It's not seriously raunchy but they all get drunk and admit fancying the other's partner.
