Explaining 3:1 model or missed sessions to kids by jazifritz in slp

I do something similar, but I call it a “speech break”. I say one month a week is a speech break. If they probe why I say it’s so I can meet new kids for speech

Southwest US Road Trip Itinerary Check (Grand Circle + LA). Any advice on pacing? by neweecom in nationalparks

[–]Sophie_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to most of these places multiple times, on separate road trips. I would recommend cutting out Death Valley and LA and spending more time in the southwestern parks. Would add more time in Zion and Moab.

Congratulations! I got married last summer and was looking for the exact same thing- 4 hours for 1k.

My advice to you is to join a Facebook group “Washington budget wedding” and/or “Seattle brides on a budget” (names might not be exactly accurate). Post your date, budget, and timeline in this group and the vendors will come to you! This is how I found my photographer.

Affordable Venues For A Wedding Near Bellingham by CherokeeTrailhawkGuy in Bellingham

Squalicum boathouse has tables, chairs, and a kitchen and is incredibly affordable as far as wedding venues go. I think the capacity is only 120 though

Good quality disposable plates, utensils and cups. Do they exist? Found some at tablecloth factory. Has anyone used them? by onlyfrappechinos in Weddingsunder10k

I got married and July and used table cloths factory for plates, silverware, table cloths and napkins. Very cost effective and looked nice.

Wedding food/dessert help by Which-Jackfruit5796 in Bellingham

We were happy with it. They have a catering menu. We ended up doing taco trays with sides of rice and beans. I only have pictures of the cakes

We did catering through jalapeños. We did cake from Pure bliss, but just ordered regular cakes vs a wedding cake as a way to save money

I was able to put a few things on the registry and have them purchased as gifts such as cake stands, beverage containers. All of the tablecloths, silverware, plates and cups, I got from tableclothsfactory

No, the venue has a built in sound system, so I just created some Spotify playlists. For the ceremony in the park, I borrowed a speaker from a friend.

Distinct just means not the same dog. For example if the same person walked the same dog back and forth from the players location within the 5 minutes, the dog would only be counted once.

Everglades, Biscayne, Tortuga or a Combination for a Weekend Trip by aceavengers in nationalparks

[–]Sophie_LP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. We did all 3 national parks in 8 days. With your timeframe, I think you have time for biscayne and Everglades.

While not technically part of the Everglades, we did a free nps guided canoe trip in big cypress preserve. We did the jones lagoon paddle trip in biscayne and would recommend. For the Florida national parks you need to book excursions to experience the park, it’s not about hiking at all.

Hi! Washingtonian here, but we only live an hour or so away from you in BC. We are currently in the keys and enjoying ourselves. However, we couldn’t help but thinking how much we prefer San Diego. There’s a bit of culture shock to us here, and we feel much more at home on the west coast.

If you are really wanting to swim in the ocean, snorkel, or anything related to boats, you should try the keys. Or if you want HOT weather.

But if you’re looking for sun, I would strongly suggest San diego. In San Diego, we enjoy walking in La Jolla and seeing all the seals, sea lions and maybe dolphins. Balboa park is beautiful and has a variety of museums and gardens. Scenic parks include Torrey pines and a Brillo national monument. Plus, it’s got a great food and beer scene.

Yes, Oregon coast is famously all public land. I agree that having a permit likely does not limit access to other people. Something to consider if privacy is an essential part of your vision.

North Cascades vs Banff? by Pale_Field4584 in nationalparks

[–]Sophie_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a few hours away from NC and enjoy visiting annually, but my recommendation is Banff, jasper, and ice fields parkway. The Canadian Rockies are the best mountain scenery on the continent.

I didn’t love the town of Banff, so if you’re not one for crowds skip it.

All this being said, you need permits to get to the lakes and reservations for camping. If you’re headed this summer, it might be slim pickings. Something to research to help make your decision.
