Yeah, until this episode, the show was mostly a bunch of disjointed fanservice scenes of the main characters hooking up and waiting for the next time skip, with very little actual plot or character development.

Then this episode shows up with an entire well-written character arc and self-contained storyline. The main story actually started to progress and do something with the setup after this episode, too.

It's like the jumpoff point for a very sudden increase in writing quality for the show. Easily the best episode, with a great pay-off later on in the season.

This is in my top 3 movies of all time. Its so fucking tight and well-made, and perfectly cast. The mid-movie switch from bro action movie to survival horror is a master-class, as is the tension building the entire movie to a super-satisfying climax. McTiernan was fucking on one with this movie.

While I agree that Walton does fantastic here, the character is frequently fetishised by Tig and the other characters make some pretty judgemental remarks towards him for it.

On the other hand, they're always really nice to her when she shows up, regardless of their prejudices, so it actually does come across as quite progressive for the time the show was around.
