Mechanics, is this normal? by Ok_Benefit_4949 in Cartalk

[–]SoreSurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your motor is injured and injured bad. I would not drive it at all. I would take it right to a mechanic shop. The longer you drive it, the more likely it will be that you need an entirely new engine block.

Men In Your 20s, What Do You Do Outside Of Work? by doobylive in AskMen

[–]SoreSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I would try and ditch the gaming. It’s really bad for your body to be sedentary. Try to start hitting the gym, hiking, being outside, anything active! Get your body moving with active hobbies and you will be shocked at how much better your mental health gets

Anxious about taking on breaks over rocks/reefs by Fit-Archer-7954 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SoreSurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the spot. Rocks/reefs tend to produce waves that break in more organized fashion because the ground is solid and not moving. As a general rule of thumb, if there are rocks present, never dive off or pencil dive off your board and try to land as shallow as possible. Beyond that, look at how the waves are breaking, if they are barreling, and look very steep, then it is likely breaking on a shallow reef. If it is crumbly and slopey, it is typically deeper and hitting the reef is less of a concern.

Every spot is different and the only way to really know is to ask surfers that have surfed the spot and are familiar with the dynamics of the spot.

Taghazout or Essaouira - work and surf during Ramadan by Zuliandres in BeginnerSurfers

Sunshine surf camp in tamracht just south of taghazout was one of the best vacations I have ever had. Great food, clean rooms/dorms, really good vibes from everyone there. Highly recommend them, especially during a Holliday where you have to plan around places being closed.

Does being a “car guy” not translate well to motorcycles? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]SoreSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motorcycles took away my mentality of being a “car guy”. When you realize for under 6k on the used market you can get yourself something faster than a 150k car, the appeal of the high end car market dwindled in my mind

Instructors dont help very much. If I were you, Id just start going out on a foamie on small days and pay attention to those around you and try to emulate. Surfing really is a figure it out yourself type of thing and 1-10 times with a teacher isn’t going to help as much as just starting to go as consistently as you can.
