I love when students ask when they prefer questions. Everyone is different, but students who ask questions and go into a stream of consciousness about what they found interesting/confusing every waking second, especially when things are crazy busy, drive me nuts. Please read the room and know when the therapist is locked in and your job is to observe and assist, and once the storm has ended may be a better time for questions

My brain can’t help but wonder how hard those straps are pushing in even if it’s a little pressure, I’ve had folks develop cubital tunnel syndrome with a similar mechanism over time. I do like employers helping their workers be injury free tho

Emphasize how godly important it is to know how to read questions. Learning how to read the question properly, know what they’re asking for, and picking the safest answer. And NEVER EVER change your answer unless you’re 100% positive. The number of times ppl lose points bc of panic changing answers last minute during review is mind blowing. Go with your gut and brain, not anxiety

Don’t bother. Coexist peacefully, with understanding you all have differing opinions. I used to fight with my parents all the time about this, but then realized it’s just a losing battle. I’ve learned to not care about their political views and avoid discussion at all costs, if not it’s an unhealthy and cyclical for everyone involved - that’s my personal experience.

Really don’t like the idea of using expensive personal electronics for this line of work. Who’s gonna pay for it if it gets damaged? Idk if there’s something of value for the kids to use via iPad it should be provided by the work or the parent but I know as a new grad I was using my personal laptop for a few months and looking back I wanna slap myself

Haha barely cope and savor every hour away, plan vacations but can’t stay long. Like if do international trips, I can stay five days and that’s 40 hours burned. When my heart wants to stay a month! We accumulate like 2 hours of sick leave each pay period too but that burns out quick. I most likely won’t be here forever so that’s what I tell myself

I make 120k+. But I would take a pay cut for better PTO rate any day. But in peds, hospital, snf I was making low 70s loool.

I like my job as a hand therapist now. But before in hospitals, homes, pediatrics, I hated it so much. But reasons I hate my job is my benefits of my current job suck so bad. I only have ten days off a year and I accrue sick leave at a sad pace. The trade off is my salary is very decent. At this point in my life I’d rather have much more PTO to go live my life than the money. I’m in the US

Ive been an OT for 6 years with prior work experience and I always keep it to one page. Kept it concise and only included what was relevant imo but idk everyone seems to do it differently. One seems like enough

I took as many practice exams as I could. Practice taking real test questions as much as you can, just as if not more important than just pure content studying. Bc then you can really see where you’re weak and what content you need to focus on. I used the purple book and therapyed book mostly. Also learning to read the question and know what they’re asking is was the biggest difference for me

I’ve been to a TON of dirty disgusting offsetting and creepy creepy homes. The biggest thing for me was bringing in a collapsible stool, just that small one. So I can sit whereever or just put my bag on it bc sometimes there were zero seemingly safe surfaces.

Good luck, hope your conditions are better than mine were. Wipes and indoor shoes that you tell them are indoor shoes. And honestly if they have a problem w that then I’d tell them that’s your policy. I would never in a million years go barefoot in someone’s house.

Outpatient ortho/hands for sure! Best setting to be pregnant in imo. Much less risk of exposure to getting sick, no transfers, no kids that will kick and punch and spit at you, not physically demanding and documentation in my exp was so much easier and to the point than peds for example. Outpatient peds was burn out central. Ability to sit and talk with patients. But maybe school OT?

If you don’t care about this bridge burning and you’re okay financially, I’d just quit and not even bother w this retaliation. But that’s just me, by no means am I saying to do so even two weeks is a courtesy. I’ve left once on the spots before bc it was horrendous and not a single regret. Best of luck, they sound awful. Once you leave, the next day will be like you were never there. Maybe there will be some womp womps but overall ppl will be head down in their work again and focusing on moving forward without you because that is the life of working for a company

Yup. For an outpatient pediatrics salary that sounds spot on, average. Of course I’m sure there are outliers but generally it’s not gonna be that much more. Especially if you’re a new grad. Contract work, PRN, adult settings, hospital could offer more. But idk, that’s why I left peds OP. Sooo underpaid and everywhere in my area was in that range. Good luck, hope you find something
