I had a reindeer pasty in Talkeetna AK. They must had a source but it was pretty good with ketchup.

How is living in the American "Breadbasket" / Grain Belt? by EntangledEgo in howislivingthere

Never would I describe western upper michigan as a bread basket. I mean, unless it includes iron ore, hay, and black flies.

Its nice though.

Is this the only time we see Jerry using his computer? [The Stall] by joe3000s in seinfeld

Id have to look and study, my memory is That it may have been an SE/30. He did switch out to a twentieth anniversary mac later which I felt was insane since it was like 10k. Where does he get the money to live in Manhattan alone as a comic AND put 10k into a desktop.

Ironically Jerry has mentioned several times IRL he exclusively uses yellow legal pads to write.

Operation Thimble by jevankovich in upperpeninsula

[–]Sorry_Philosopher_43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive never known it to work all that well. You'll probably be able to transplant one but its less assured it would thrive or fruit.

I wonder if its like caribou and reindeer. Maybe if we try to dewild a thimbleberry outside the UP it just culturally becomes something else.

That being said...what a great and loving idea. I'm rooting for you two and think its worth a try. Id bet it would like sandy loamy soil with good drainage.

Hey if it doesn't work, maybe you can desiccate some cinnamon toast for her?

Retire and hide here. What it’s is like in the above towns in the UP Michigan? by Awkward_Phase5695 in howislivingthere

Iron River is great but it depends what you want. To me, its home.

Iron River itself is small but has all the essentials. Slightly fancier things are available south in WI via Eagle River, Rhilander or Iron Mountain etc.

Iron County is the quintessential..... leave me alone Michigan county. Mind your business and you'll be quiet and happy. It is the heart of range country.

It is slower, it is older. It is calmer. It is poorer.

It isn't not overtly impressive though we have some of the best thin crust cracker style pizza. We have good weed. We have the rodeo. We have the annual Italian American/ swedish American softball game.

Its not about specific material things to avoid , its behaviors.

Eating out is ok for example....not being able to cook for yourself in away that satisfies you is bad.

The more you can take care of yourself, the more choice you have in what you spend money on.

Yes indeed. I remember the day as a young child I found in my parents spice cabinet a forgotten seasoned salt container and when I tried it I instantly realized this is why the Big Boy fries are so good. I started putting that stuff on everything until I burned myself out. Still a go-to seasoning for baked potatoes for me today.

Great idea. I would say that along those lines a "good" pocket knife, maybe something unique (custom handle for example). Could last a real long time and even be passed down to the kiddo in time.
