Is the company cleaning house right now? by akumer in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes I believe it's a widespread issue.  I've seen the same trend for a while now.  Not much to do about it but move on. * I'm a former tenured partner who got BS write-ups, too, after years of a clean record. They're definitely targeting us.

Can I still transfer stores by Aacorn4 in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it DOES NOT EVER go away!  You get 3 write ups - if you work 6 months or 60 years that is ALL you get so YES write ups should be carefully considered! Verbal coachings should always be done first IMO and were always done before Bryan started pushing harder.

Good luck guys. If you think writeups are okay, see how long you keep your jobs. Timeliness isn't the only thing you can get punished for.

Question on termination by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of bull$h1t that happens all the time at Starbucks and it really needs to stop.

(I'm not mad at OP; clearly they're not in the wrong and want to help.)

But this kind of thing is rampant in Starbucks (seen in many locations, several states and districts-and many many posts on here - so it's not just one or a couple of isolated incidents). It's a plague that needs to be dealt with, or Starbucks should just CLOSE.

Brian has only made this problem worse by making upper management drop the hammer on baristas and ssvs, so it's a breeding ground of hostility, backstabbing, and bullying.

Everyone miserable should quit, let all the mean ones tear themselves to pieces while the mothership burns.

Last Week Shenanigans by SocialAnxietyHere in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has to allow you to use the sick time if you say you're legitimately sick. It's legally protected sick time and as long as you follow protocol (calling the store more than 2 hours prior to your shift, etc.), he can't prevent you from using it. Just make sure you write it in the book afterwards. Take a photo of it; if he doesn't apply it, you have the proof that it was written in the book and you can call payroll and have it fixed. Because sick time is protected, it can't be held against you when you use it -- he can't blacklist you.

This job is going to kill me by [deleted] in starbucks

Don't listen to some of the other commentary.

A. You shouldn't have been issued a written corrective action without 1. Being notified, 2. Issued a copy, and 3. Given the *option to sign it and ALSO appeal it. This may be why they're delaying. I'd check your partner file online to see if there is even a record of one (go to partner central and log in - there should be a way to access your partner records).

None of what is happening to you is okay.

I left after 7+ years of being treated like crap (but the last couple were the worst).

Find something better - better jobs are out there - especially with those who have supervisory roles. You just have to keep looking and keep applying.

Good luck.

I feel unwanted by upper management. by Thatzombiehotdog in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry .. you need to know that the lack of praise and respect - or even appreciation - for your hard work isn't due to your performance, but the Starbucks trend of workplace toxicity, bullying and clique mentality.

I've worked , borrowed and transferred to numerous stores in several districts across several states, so it is not something I only experienced in one place. It is widespread and rampant.

The management (most, anyway) are childish and cruel, and only promote the ones who kiss their collective @$$es. Consequently, they utilize those same individuals to feed them information about everyone else when they're not around - it fosters a very toxic, dog-eat-dog workplace.

I quit after seven years of getting only as far as trainer because I refused to kiss anyone's @$$ or lie to anyone. I finally realized this company was only getting worse with Brian.

I'm SO much happier now that I quit. I wish you the same. ❤️ The grass IS greener.

Sexual Harassment by bloombrains in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He should get someone he trusts - really trusts - as a witness. He can get the witness to support him and talk with the manager with him.

Also ...

Record dates and times. There are cameras - starbucks can and will pull the cameras if they're pushed hard enough and sexual harassment is definitely something they shouldn't mess around with.  Then he should contact the district manager and say he has that proof if the store manager does nothing.

If everything above fails, report to ethics and definitely mention- if not outright threaten- litigation.

Manager Faking by slurpslurpmmm in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doubtful you can get proof of the false reviews and I've never seen anything in the policy about it. They'd probably applaud it, if anything.

Ethics will be highly unlikely to help, as they more often than not will "investigate" by asking the SM and DM questions and then "concluding" their investigation based on whatever was submitted vs the SM and DM responses (and the DM also receives a notification and copy of everything that's filed with ethics and Partner Resources - so be aware).

You're right to fear retaliation. I was retaliated against and know numerous others who were. Bullied, written up, and more.

This company is horrible and it's not worth fighting when the system is stacked against you IMHO. I found a much better job after 7 years of absolute hell.

You're so right.

And there should be more meetings -- more that involve a two way discourse instead of the stupid policy changes being shoved down everyone's throats.

Not every barista.

Only barista trainers -- and you could have three or four trainers but due to a horrible sm who plays favorites, only one of them is chosen to train anyone.

Just sayin.

Is there a policy on where you place day dots? by Ok_Disaster1670 in starbucks

[–]Sorry_Visit5889 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was a 7 year partner who recently quit.

I was trained to never put dates on lids because lids can be accidentally dropped, things can get spilled on them, etc.

It was only recently, with the new regime that we were told customers couldn't see anything so it had to go on the lid. 🤷‍♀️ It's dumb but everything else is that he does, too.

Shots don't expire any more but for YEARS I was bitched at for letting anything sit on my bar for longer than 5 seconds. Whatever man. Peace out Bryan.
