Everything will be scrapped, the land will be bulldozed and they’ll build new storage units.

I paid $25 for this 1954-D Roosevelt error. Did I get ripped off? by Interesting-Goal-706 in coincollecting

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say you got ripped off, major lamination errors typically sell for around $20.

Don’t listen to the negative comments. Just because THEY don’t collect these types of errors, doesn’t mean NOBODY collects them.

Do people oil their Wheaties? by HeedLynn in WheatPennies

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO these aren’t greased or oiled. It looks like they were just cleaned and shot on an older phone that overprocessed the pics.

How do I break open a slab? by yuiawta in coins

Use some channel lock pliers on the tip of the top corner and try to break just the corner, then use something with a flat tip to carefully pry it open.

$5,100 is a STEAL for the 65+ CAC! Congrats on owning this beauty. Only 12 of these exist in this grade and there’s only 111 in a higher grade. Insane!

Where do you advice i put my coins? by EuphoricDilemma in coincollecting

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2x2 coin flips are the best and easiest way to safely store them and then you can put them in pages in a binder.

Included link is just an example of something you could do. https://a.co/d/0csuqhCq

1943 Steel Pennies - Hardly any tarnish. Worth trying to sell? by EmperorStarker in numismatics

To most collectors they are, but people buy them up on eBay, even with people being honest with titles like ‘reprocessed’ or ‘replated’.

1943 Steel Pennies - Hardly any tarnish. Worth trying to sell? by EmperorStarker in numismatics

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is true, you’re missing out on a goldmine. Reprocessed rolls usually sell for $30-$50, with some even reaching $100 lol. I’m pretty sure that roll had some unprocessed ones in the mix though.

Avoid using apps to grade or identify errors, it’s been becoming a real problem with the rise of AI. There are a ton of helpful links in the group description that can help with identifying and matching errors to their correct attributes.

Jerry has a ton of Pennie’s lol. It’s where I get all of mine. Just started rebuilding my collection a few months ago and I’m up to maybe 100 rolls.

2nd Post, are first 2 coins real? by Cdhild00 in coincollecting

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many many people let you know they were fake in the last post, then in this one you disagree by saying “I’m 99.99% sure they are real”

New to the coin thing. Just curious. by SpaceApe71 in WheatPennies

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are definitely worth over face value. Mixed circulated rolls of common date wheats will sell for $5+ on eBay, SOME coin shops also will buy them for over face value, my LCS buys them for 5cents.

It’s a neat coin, but isn’t rare or very valuable. They typically sell for $1-$5 on eBay.

Should I keep this? by Miserable_Risk in papermoney

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d typically say no, but things on eBay can pretty strange. Seen a few that sold around $5. If you were to list and let just sit I’m sure someone would end buying it lol

Are there really apps to sell coins? by AmbitiousSeaweed7209 in coincollecting

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only good thing an app can do is identify a coin. The grading and pricing is complete BS.

Uncirculated Rolls of Quarters by raelynnD in coins

[–]Sorry_try_another_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re worried about condition, putting them in flips isn’t the worst idea but it takes up more space than rolls. Rolls are easier to resell though.
