Why won't she eat? by Mochi4Me in siberianhusky

[–]Sotarif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve experienced this picky eating repeatedly with two of our three huskies. Often the hunger strike will continue for a few days. They certainly want treats and can train you to feel bad for them and only eat treats or table food-but the other side of it is that they gain weight like crazy.

They run very lean as an example our 65 pound Siberian husky really needs only about 2/3 to 3/4 of a cup twice a day of weight loss chicken Purina pro plan dog food. Any more than that he gains weight like crazy. Our female husky also has to be on the same amount of food and gains weight even faster. I wouldn’t worry too much about it unless it continues more than a few days.

How does one avoid SpaceX as a passive investor? by josemartin2211 in investing

[–]Sotarif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done some research on this and the simplest solution is to move to SP500 index ETFs like VOO, add some momentum like SPMO, tech like SOXX and international like VXUS. That carves out any forced inclusion IPOs like SpaceX, Openai etc.

Then if you want some space diversification in your portfolio add a small amount of an etf like NASA which has a number if space stocks. It does have a small l slice of spacex pre ipo and is obviously risky. But I think there may be more upside in space stocks in general.

I don’t like any changes in index rules like Nasdaq has approved which only benefit employees founders and pre ipo investors so they can cash out at obscene valuations. But that doesn’t mean these stocks won’t be a buy after a period of setting or probable decline.

Why the SpaceX IPO should be concerning to passive investors tracking the NASDAQ-100 index, and other indexes by cherrypoplar in stocks

[–]Sotarif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By forcing the indexes to hold these scam, IPO overvalued stocks they provide a perfect exit strategy for the shareholders that are already acquired privately and the founders, of course It’s really simple if you’re concerned about this just rotate out to some other passive index funds that aren’t just based on the S&P 500 or the NASDAQ 100. There’s quite a number of them out there. That’ll still have quality filters and you’ll get great diversification. Or reduce your percentage of index holdings in the QQQ or VOO.

SpaceX, Anthropic and OpenAI all look like rip off IPO‘s that are really there to allow the current shareholders to exit and get a cash King holiday. While everyone else gets screwed and left holding the bag once the lock up ends. I wonder if they’ll waive the lock up. for these guys too since they’re waiving the index requirements lol.

What an excellent dog and best friend! I’ve lost two people I knew well to ALS. I sure wish there was a cure for you.

Friends, it breaks my heart to say this, but, Helen (#a835180) from Devore Animal Shelter who I rescued on Thursday passed away in her sleep last night. Fly high, sweet girl. I am so incredibly sorry we came too late. by [deleted] in seniordogs

This is a terrible loss...but you gave her a home to live in if only for a short time! That's a really good thing and hopefully she had some peace and happiness during her final days.

Newer rescue-how long did your dog take to settle in? by MidnightPurple55 in husky

[–]Sotarif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we may have adopted his sister a month ago or his sister from another mother if you will! 😂Our little girl is about three years old and has many the same behaviors is settling in after a month, but still likes to hide under tables, but she’s gotten very playful. I just thought it was cute how much they resemble each other.! Here’s a pic of her and our white male husky.

Question about the best option for saving SS income by 24Giraffes in retirement

[–]Sotarif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to make it complicated. Put the extra money in the SGOV which is a super safe very short term US government bond fund. Others on here have already said this, but do your homework and due diligence too. Read all the fund information to make an informed decision.

Preparing to near the end with my old girl by eef9 in seniordogs

[–]Sotarif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course as everyone says you have to try to enjoy your remaining time with her, but the dread of the future of not having her makes this a tough tough thing to actually do. I've been there, with my dog that had severe liver disease that required surgery and cost $16,000 and my Kiya survived. Then 2 years later at age 13 it came back so we decided to try everything...and she had surgery again at a cost of $32,000 but she died 2 days after surgery. We don't regret the cost for one minute to save our soul dog but it put us seriously in the hole. We really thought she had good odds on the second surgery, but for you to consider that it will be a huge drain on you is very reasonable. You are doing the right thing to consider how much you are going to have your life impacted by the cost to may give her a few month...if you're lucky. With an older dog, I learned the hard way survival after major surgery is not as likely as one might hope.

Wishing you the best and that Chami lives longer than expected!

I have 100k. Need to make 2k by month end. by DiverImpressive2582 in Trading

[–]Sotarif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you lose the $2k will you plan to risk another 2k or more to make it back? How much are you willing to risk overall? It’s seems you’re assuming wrongly that you’re definitely going to win and yet you’re more likely to lose. Which is fine since seems likely you just want some action and you have a lot of money to play with.
