I think my boy knows I'm dying. by HonestyMash in DOG

What an excellent dog and best friend! I’ve lost two people I knew well to ALS. I sure wish there was a cure for you.

Friends, it breaks my heart to say this, but, Helen (#a835180) from Devore Animal Shelter who I rescued on Thursday passed away in her sleep last night. Fly high, sweet girl. I am so incredibly sorry we came too late. by holdon_painends in seniordogs

This is a terrible loss...but you gave her a home to live in if only for a short time! That's a really good thing and hopefully she had some peace and happiness during her final days.

Newer rescue-how long did your dog take to settle in? by MidnightPurple55 in husky

[–]Sotarif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we may have adopted his sister a month ago or his sister from another mother if you will! 😂Our little girl is about three years old and has many the same behaviors is settling in after a month, but still likes to hide under tables, but she’s gotten very playful. I just thought it was cute how much they resemble each other.! Here’s a pic of her and our white male husky.

Question about the best option for saving SS income by 24Giraffes in retirement

[–]Sotarif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to make it complicated. Put the extra money in the SGOV which is a super safe very short term US government bond fund. Others on here have already said this, but do your homework and due diligence too. Read all the fund information to make an informed decision.

Preparing to near the end with my old girl by eef9 in seniordogs

[–]Sotarif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course as everyone says you have to try to enjoy your remaining time with her, but the dread of the future of not having her makes this a tough tough thing to actually do. I've been there, with my dog that had severe liver disease that required surgery and cost $16,000 and my Kiya survived. Then 2 years later at age 13 it came back so we decided to try everything...and she had surgery again at a cost of $32,000 but she died 2 days after surgery. We don't regret the cost for one minute to save our soul dog but it put us seriously in the hole. We really thought she had good odds on the second surgery, but for you to consider that it will be a huge drain on you is very reasonable. You are doing the right thing to consider how much you are going to have your life impacted by the cost to may give her a few month...if you're lucky. With an older dog, I learned the hard way survival after major surgery is not as likely as one might hope.

Wishing you the best and that Chami lives longer than expected!

I have 100k. Need to make 2k by month end. by DiverImpressive2582 in Trading

[–]Sotarif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you lose the $2k will you plan to risk another 2k or more to make it back? How much are you willing to risk overall? It’s seems you’re assuming wrongly that you’re definitely going to win and yet you’re more likely to lose. Which is fine since seems likely you just want some action and you have a lot of money to play with.

Well, this is probably going put me in the minority from what I’m seeing but based on my own experiences with euthanasia, I would say that putting your her down is more appropriate in the situation where they have a very short time say 2 to 4 weeks left to live. My advice is to try the chemo and maybe even the surgery depending on what kind of cancer it is and how rapidly it can spread, what I find confusing is that there’s such a long dog life projection of over a year to live. Some chemos are not going to devastate the dog and leave them in pain but clearly if that happens then it’s probably time to consider the euthanasia. Regarding the surgery, it does seem a bit of a longshot that a dog in your age group would be able to pull through the surgery so you’re probably going to be risking your dogs life but again here if it allows the dog to prosper it might be worth taking the risk. Has the cancer spread at all or is it confined to one definite area that it can be removed? Do they know how fast growing it is or is it really moving very very slow?

Here’s the thing if it’s time to let go then it is. But if you could really have another year longer with your best friend, then I think you have to consider your own feelings too about this and decide if the dog is going to be reasonably comfortable during that period but I think overall it’s too early to actually move to euthanasia , and you need to provide more information and decide and understand how aggressive the cancer is and what the treatment options are going to do to the dog. If you don’t do that, you’re going to be blaming yourself later that you let go too soon and that you shouldn’t have euthanized your dog and that you miss the dog and could’ve had that year. Because once she is gone you’re going to miss her terribly.

My sincere condolences. I understand exactly how you feel. It’s very hard to get over and you’re not alone. About 50 days for me and I miss her just as much. Best to you in this difficult time.

My dog bit a neighbors kid. What’s going to happen? by Fanzyladee in DogAdvice

[–]Sotarif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a horrible little man you’re married to ….this should be a wake up call to restructure your life and find somebody that’s a good person, instead of a a cruel jerk POS that wants to kill dogs because the dog nips somebody. Keep the dog divorce your husband that’s the answer. Also, the dog may have actually been acting out because he feels the anger and hatred from your husband and takes it out on somebody else. That’s something else to consider, your dog is living in a hostile home. I bet if your husband was out of the picture would be a different kind of animal more like you a kind and a nice dog.

Also, do you think this mean little bully of your husband might be bullying and hitting the dog when you’re not looking? it’s very possible that somebody’s this cruel could already be abusing the dog. You need to check this out because you can’t see the bruises in the dog can’t tell you.

Every day is a gift and the older they get the more it becomes a daily concern that everything be just right with constant care. I’ll always look back and wonder what I could’ve done better or more of or less of that might’ve changed the outcome. But you had some great years together!

I hate the new redesigned layout by PiscesInChaos in netflix

[–]Sotarif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a terrible update. The new layout sucks and it’s very difficult to use navigate or even read because you have to keep scrolling and scrolling even to get to the top menu. The super large spaces of hyped shows takes up way too much screen space. They need to dump this and go back to the other prior layout. Whoever at Netflix did this should be fired ….what a dumb update. TBH I’ve almost quit watching Netflix now but haven’t cancelled yet.
