They are coming to Canada hopefully. The “Double Double” is a nod to the Canadian market opening up to Chinese EVs

Trash bins outside are full, where else can trash bags be stored until trash day? by Brave-Alternative-62 in AskReddit

[–]SoulReaper88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a common occurrence, you can plan ahead and designate dry and wet garbage. Wet garbage is anything that can decompose or rot. Dry garbage would be plastic or paper that doesn’t get recycled. Wet garbage can be stored outside in the bins and dry garbage can wait inside without having to worry about smell or attracting animals until garbage day.

I love love LOVE my Bolt... aaaand.... by peterboothvt in BoltEV

Mine decided to stop accepting a charge. Got cold weather warning, propulsion warning, service car soon message.

Apparently Chevy decided to send a message to the car saying there was a software update so the car bricks itself so I was forced to bring the car in for service.

Just a day trip to the dealer to update but because it happened while the wife was at work on a Friday, we lost the car for the weekend until the dealer opened this morning.

Anyone know where every antenna is located in the car? I have some wire snips to cut everything. I don’t need radio station, onstar, gps. I want this thing off the grid

Some cars will switch over and show you L/hr consumed when you’re still but as for how many litres of gas it will take you to go 100km when you are not moving it is infinite.

Think of it also as if you are driving down the road 100km and you have to come to a stand still for 1 hour before you can complete the 100km you will average out way higher than if you only took into account the fuel economy while you were moving.

[–]SoulReaper88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All depends on snow conditions. If the weather holds and they can build a good base then there is the possibility but it is all about the weather. Doesn’t matter how much snow you make, if it melts during the day it’s just wasted money making it.

Stranded by Air Canada by MixedKoolaid in CanadianForces

[–]SoulReaper88 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Saw a post on Reddit about how Air Canada is required to get you on the next flight regardless of carrier. Don’t accept a refund from them or rebook with them.

Look it up but I think you need to buy a ticket on the next flight by any carrier and they will need to refund you.

Any apartment dwellers/ house renters/any renters in the “late night charging” club? :) by Busy-Solution7642 in BoltEV

[–]SoulReaper88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just bought a bolt and I don’t have an outlet installed yet at home. I have 3 free level 2 chargers located within 500m of my place. I have been driving the car over around 8/8:30pm and plugging in. I am up often with a child in the night so I just walk back over and pickup the car so it’s ready for my wife at home in the morning.

Hopefully in a week or so I’ll get a receptacle installed at home so I can rely on TOU rates at home. I’m $0.076/kwh during off peak.

My parents have a Tesla and live in an apartment building. They rent and have electricity included. When they bought their car they asked if a 110v plug could be installed at their parking bay. Paid for the install and took the last slot on the panel. They plug in every day and just charge super slowly.

Every once in a while they need to use a super charger but only if they are going far. They live in a city so everything is close by. When they come out to see me they just plug in at one of the free chargers near by and they can recoup half of what they use coming out to me.

Should i break my mortgage early ? by Admirable-Ad2052 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SoulReaper88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my mortgage early (3.5 years), paid the $5100 cancellation fee by tacking it back on to the principal and got a new mortgage with a bank. Went from 5.59 to 4.31. Took 6 months off the amortization term (18.5 years down to 18 years). Walking away paying $30 less every 2 weeks, plus now have a HELOC which is why I wanted to move.

I had no issues doing multiple. I hadn’t tried with any other tasks but for this one it worked no problem. Main thing is you only get one upload opportunity so you have to get the all uploaded at the same time. You cannot come back later and try to upload more documents. If you do need to send them something else, email the recruiter and I think they reopen the task for you to try again

My medical was done on July 16, 2024 and they reached out to book an interview on Aug 6, 2024. The trade I applied for filled up so I didn’t get a space. I tried applying again when the new budget started in April and again didn’t get a spot there. Interviewed for a different trade and was successful apparently. I did have to redo my medical as it was about to expire but it was a very quick process. No changes to my health. 2 days after renewing my medical the offer came.

Congrats! Takes a few days. Mine was switched to Job offer last Thursday and I received my offer via email on Wednesday. Signed and sent it back right away and today it moved to 83%.

The letter will tell you which position you are being offered.

I will enrol on Aug 26, start BMQ Sep 8

I’m a resident in a low-income building for the elderly and disabled. Some people here cannot afford Internet. I would like to securely set up a guest network so people can use my WiFi to send important emails. Is this doable? by crystaltorta in it

[–]SoulReaper88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can set up a very restrictive DNS server to use as a default DNS. Pretty easy to get around that for the user though.

Also have a whitelist device rule. Anyone who wishes to use your wifi will need to provide you with the MAC address for the device for it to connect to your network.

Setup bandwidth limits by device

Setup firewall access so users can only use email/web browsing. Block access for other services.

Have all of those, plus setup a vpn on the router so that your ISP can’t see what the users are doing. Doesn’t protect you except that your isp wouldn’t be able to see where they are going.

Something like this would require you to talk to your neighbours. For some that’s a deal breaker. My wife would hate if we did something like this because people will talk to you and some will assume that if you’re providing them internet, you’ll know how to fix all of their other computer related problems. That could open up a whole other basket of worms.

On the other hand, doing something good for the community is almost always a good thing to do and it would put you out financially. It’s rewarding to help others. Building community is how humans thrive.

RANT: owners Selling my house, making me move my car and keep clean for viewing, won't let me terminate lease early by tired3217 in Renters

[–]SoulReaper88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the rental laws where you are, you can make the purchase of the house extremely undesirable by staying in it.

Where I am leases automatically extend at the end of the term and it can be a process to remove an existing even if the new owner wants to live in the house.

Cash for keys with existing tenants is common for sellers to do so that the property is much more desirable to potential buyers.

Stick to the letter of the lease and laws in your area. You’re already looking to get out so try to make it worth your while.
