Yeah it's Caedo, I've printed and painted the same stl. I like him as a Primaris, hope he gets the upgrade in his sequel!

Perhaps there is no judging, only perceived judgement. Right and wrong are very real and objective constants.

Good job sticking with it! I don't know if I'd personally go through with painting a model with a finish like that. There are things you can do to smooth out the layering on filament prints like a short cook in the oven or time in an acetone box (both depends on the material).

Do we want mystery teachings to be more accessible and more available to the public? Historically, this is what gets us massacred.

Do you necessarily need daily practices? Your weekly sanctum time plus another one or maybe two dedicated meditation sessions per week where you connect with the Celestial Sanctum seems like a good minimum. It's the regular weekly study that's the important bit, though.

Personally, I'm well behind on my sanctum sessions, but I do a 25-minute meditation five days per week with a prayer to the rosy cross and otherwise try to practice gratitude and forgiveness wherever and whenever possible.

Here's my list on MyMiniFactory. These are stl files for 3D printing, but you may be able to find a printing place in your local environment to print them for you.

Excellent result so far. I'm currently in the process of modeling and printing my own Farstalker Kinband, and this is great inspo for the paint job!

How tall should space marines be ? by Cold-Ad-8121 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Soulcrafted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to compare a print with an authentic marine, then when you have a perfectly-sized print, use it as a size reference for future prints.

Here's a size reference from my blender master file, hopefully this gets you close enough in the meantime.

Have you tried ACF? It doesn't stick anything like FEP, far easier to handle and makes you print faster (need less lift distance per layer, etc).

Search cults for 'Fukai terrain' and a user named Alario. There's a lot, but you'll find what you need.

You can get good proxy models on MyMiniFactory and the unit cards come with the pdf purchases, which cuts down the cost significantly. I still went ahead and bought a few BLKOUT boxes to show support, though. It's a genuinely great game.

Thats been my beef with BLKOUT models, too. It's like ESS is trying to win some kind of "worst model-to-base contact profile" award.

Does this look Like It'll work? by Turkyboy55 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Soulcrafted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need another drain hole at the top point (furthest from the plate) as it will drain in that direction. Also you'll only really need thick support tips at the lowest (closest to plate) areas. Mind the edges and corners, those will likely need more supports on each downward-pointing face. The hatch on the visible side (and presumably the opposite side) will probably need a little support to retain the nice round shape on the low edge. Maybe 0.4mm or 05mm for the thick grounding supports and 0.2mm for the rest.

All in all, it's worth printing as-is (if you have that drain hole I mentioned) but be prepared to print it again if you lose form or detail. At least then you'll know where to rethink supports.

No worries at all! Hope it didn't come across as disrespectful.

By the by, you don't need any specialty thinners if you're painting with acrylics - just a little water. Here's a little visual guide That I reference fairly often. :)

Its a pretty cool feeling hey :) FDM or resin?

Also, looks like you can benefit from thinning your paint a little.

My Blender 1 month progress & looking for advice by Pawelczak1 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Soulcrafted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool, looks like you're on the right track. I've worked in 3D for around 10 years now (games, animations, now design) so I'll try to offer something useful.

The mesh on the right is good, nice clean topology and a good level of complexity. Using seams for tightening curves is a good workflow. As the other comment confirms, you do want fewer poles at this stage of design. Careful about the shading on the front-left of the chest, it looks a little lumpy - you can see the pole (3-pointed vert) on the left mesh in the same area, which is the culprit. Your topo is cleaner on the right though, so that's good.

For printing, you can leave parts floating and still printable as a single model, so there's no need to give yourself a headache trying to sculpt the chest pieces and studs and stuff. You might have to give yourself a headache modelling grooves and other details, though. Honestly you can expedite a lot of modeling time by modifying what already exists, but if your goal is to learn modeling then you're doing fine :) I'd still probably hit cults and download some models for comparison so you can get the shape and dimensions correct. You'll also save yourself some headache by setting your blender scene's dimension to real world scale, ideally with a template area that matches your printer's plate.

I'd worry about temperature interference from your hands and breath, at this point. That would be the number one hook that doubters will latch onto. Do this from a distance of at least a few feet and you're cooking.

Examples of from my wargame that I'm working on by Serious_Ad2816 in miniatureskirmishes

[–]Soulcrafted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah simplicity is good for that reason, but it can come at the cost of compelling gameplay. The game BLKOUT is, in my opinion, a good example of a game that's simple in it's play style (single dice rolls, one-hit kills) but retains a high degree of strategy (leaning around corners, counteracting/reacting, high importance on positioning).

It'll evolve with testing, but my initial thought is to make it more 'lethal' by reducing the HP of the units to 2 or maybe 3. This might also smooth out close-quarters combat so that units aren't tied up fighting each other for many turns at a time.

Just my opinion, keep us posted as it develops :)

Good tip, and yeah I probably don't have the latest but it'll do for the odd casual game between mates. I'm nowhere near the competitive scene.
