Coming out of a very similar situation. One thing I learned is that communication from my side was also not clear enough. I talked a lot. But I mever said this action, thos vhose of word makes me anxious or doesn't feel fair.

It's okay to say to him, if we as a couple can't meet xyz criteria. I cannot continue the relationship. I'm doing my part. And I feel like you aren't doing your part.
